Is he hated so much here because he's our rival? Or the whole cheating scandal? I don't understand it. Anyone that knows football knows he's going down as one of the greatest in NFL history, his accuracy is razor sharp, and makes great decisions. But why is he ridiculed and a rookie like Henne is praised like a God? I understand its the Fins forums but I'm just so curious. I don't see this type of hate for any other QB, not even Peyton Manning or Drew Brees? So what gives?
Cause he cries like a b$#% and he now has 2 rules created because of him. The tuck rule and the touch rule. Lol might as well be called the touch rule.
because he's tom brady..and he's a patriot oh and because most of the Floridians who are fans of him n the pats r all...uhh whats that word??? BANDWAGON!
Look, I'm not trying to start an argument here, so if it is headed in that direction, then mods please lock this thread. I didn't mean for it to be that way. I just wanted a mature and rational discussion as to why he is hated so much on these boards. Everyone says it because he s a Patriot. So just because he is our rival, all his stats mean nothing? Or if Henne gets tapped, you mean to tell me Fin fans/the sidelines aren't going to cry for a flag like Brady(or anybody in the league really) does?
2 main reasons I think. 1 - He's damn good for a divisional rival. Whenever he's successful he hurts us. 2 - He's been a media darling for so long people just react badly to being forcefed all glowing reports about him. Peyton Manning for example had to endure years of "can't win the big game" criticism, so there's much more of a human feel to Peyton. Brady has been portrayed as some semi-mythical greek demigod, even when he plainly is merely a very very good quarterback.
Even though I cant see the OP; Its because he is an arrogant, smug, PRICK. Even with all the success he has had, anytime he is asked a question, it is always about how great he and the Patriots are. COMMENTATOR: "Hey Tammy, which Superbowl win was the best" TAMMY BRADY"Well, thats easy, its the next one of course". COMMENTATOR: "Tammy, so and so predicted the final score as 21=17" TAMMY BRADY: "Yeah, whatever. Like all we the incredible New England Patriots are gonna score is 17...whatever...." Tack onto that, Rog Goodell (Robert Kraft's fishing buddy) seems to think he needs to portray this douche as some irreplaceable fairy tale princess.

It sounded like some little old lady.
Peyton Manning and Drew Brees are stand up guys and great professional athletes. It's hard not to like them even though they play for a different team. Tom Brady is a whiny prima donna.
because he is one gigantic mother**** ***** *** **** ****** ***** *** *********(?) **** *** ** sooooooooo......hope that explains it
I think its just because he's the typical arrogant prick that most man men don't mesh very well with. He's more than likely the guy at your job you want to punch in the nose from time to time. I'm sure he's an alright guy, but a prick, being coached by a prick, on a division rival team don't get too much the benefit of the doubt, thus.......the disdain for Tom Brady.
I'm happy he's a poppa again, grats Brady! First pic of the proud parents with junior: Shortly after that: Later, when Tommy wasn't looking:
thats just it, noone else gets flags like Marcia (Brady). if the breeze gets too close it is ejected from the stadium.
It's a perfect storm of legitimate talent (loathable in a rival) and the special (and unfair) attention he gets as a result (who else can you think of off the top of your head that is singularly responsible for the implementation of not one, but two new rules)?
most people who bother to watch football root against their team rivals and players, a bit more than the other teams and players. are you not very acquainted with football?
Because when leers at a ref after being touched, 15 yellow flags magically appear on the field . He's got every kind of protection outside of having his own set of penalty flags and bubble wrap. Because because of his injury, the game of football itself has been changed. When a defender breathes on the quarterback the wrong way, the chains move. Helmets and pads are no longer necessary when playing the quarterback position in the NFL. Today's football is something cringeworthy to have to watch if you are a a fan of hardcore shut-them-down defense. As a defender you cannot breathe on receivers, or "hit a defenseless reciever"; you can't even touch the quarterback in any way the team owners deem inappropriate. Because of Tom Brady, Pass-rushing in the NFL has been reduced to nothing more than a tea party where a gain of yardage is more likely to follow a sack. It is because (and maybe this isn't his fault), unlike Manning and Brees, his offenses don't ever hold back, run up the score on lesser teams, but also have the nerve to be the ultimate sore losers when they happen to lose. Because of the smugness they convey every time they walk off the field like "we just lost to a lesser team". Maybe it is the fact that he hates losing that makes him and his coach so sour afterwards, but the simple fact that they enjoy running up the score late in games throws that out of the window; kill the clock and go home with a W.
Well, he is just not hated on these boards, but hated all around. Why? because he is good and on the obnoxious Pats. Why? as people mentioned, the league made rules because of him. Why? because he does whine and cry everytime he is touched, just watch him look at the ref everytime. Why? he has a great looking woman Fin fans crying is different than Henne crying. fans always see penalties that just are not there because they were rose colored glasses. The problem is it's Brady that cries.
I'm with you. I don't understand the hate for the guy at all. Personally or professionally. Me, I think it speaks to the irrationality of modern society in general. I root against his team mostly, but Brady's one of my favorite players.
Plain and simple, it's envy. People love to hate those who have more. Look at how much media coverage Tiger's harem is getting, look how much attention Vick got with his dog fighting. Why? We may all claim our principles are what gets us all riled up and self righteous, and in some cases that is the reason. But more than that we love to watch the mighty tumble right back down into the masses. Imagine, just imagine for a moment, that Brady gets caught doing something stupid. The media would be all over it, and all of those rival fans and haters would be loving every moment, basking in his misery. Doesn't matter what the situation is, as long as it makes him suffer. Me? I don't hate the guy, what's he got that I don't? Besides the fame, fortune, super model wife and Super Bowl rings..... I hate that ****er!
We hate him because we all would very much enjoy to murder hookers...but we can't because they would lock us up and throw away the key. Tom Brady ...gets away with it.
OH..I also have this image in my head of Brady coming home from practice..and asking Giselle if tonight is a "pooper night"...and she says "yes"... It pisses me off. So yeah..call it envy.
Are you not acquainted with the concept of reading? In my first post, I admitted that maybe its because he's our rival but the level of hate for him is far and beyond that of Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.
they aren't in our division.................... why do people dislike sanchez? because he plays for the jets. I don't hate brady. He's a good qb, hall of famer. But I'm not going to act like its some irrational emotion for fans of the rival team to dislike him. In football you learn to dislike the opposition in football. The whole game is set up for it to be as such. Its not irrational at all to dislike him.
I defended Brady as being better than Manning a few years ago. My reasoning was that it always seemed that Brady knew what was coming. I argued he seemed to have a sixth sense and that was what gave him the edge on Manning. Now (before his slight downturn) I feel that his sixth sense was actually the result of cheating. Therefore, while I recognize that the media and fans will forget, ignore and shrug off the cheating, I see him as tarnished. He is obviously a great QB but he should be below Manning and I wonder if he got an extra SB or two b/c of the cheating. If he were a couple of SBs lighter would he still be that first ballot HOF player? I basically think that he's over rated by the media and fans b/c of accomplishments that may have been the result of an unfair advantage.
Can we please stop with the "one of the greatest of all time" nonsense? Take a good look at the super bowl wins. It's not like Brady engineered length of the field drives. Against the Panthers, the final kickoff went out of bounds and Brady had an amazing 6 play, 37 yard drive for a FG. Wow. It's not like he was Montana or Elway driving the length of the field for a TD. Aside from the fact that he's had steller talent around him. It's been proven how rattled he gets with some pressure. Sorry, I don't consider him one of the best ever. Not even top 10.
I don't hate Brady, but I do not like him by any stretch of the imagination. I think my biggest issue is how the media just inflated him into this super huge superstar. It makes me sick, he's a good player but jesus, if you stuck any of the top 10 QBs on a team with those receivers and that line, they'd be putting up pretty similar numbers. He is not nearly in class with Drew Brees, or Peyton Manning. And I think he gets a lot of credit he does not deserve. Granted, he's a good player, I will never deny that, but I'd take either of the Mannings, Roethlisberger, Brees, or Rivers before I took Tom Brady. And maybe that's just my personal opinion.
Anyone see that Entourage where the guys are golfing with Brady and Turtle hates him? I was hoping that Turtle punched him.
LOL!! Best answer hands down! Seriously, it's pretty much all the reasons that have been stated. He's good, but come on! He's human and this is football. The rules to "protect" the quarterback are all related to him which makes him some girly man in a mans sport. Also, we are a different type of football team. None of the pretty boy- go deep- we throw and head to the sidelines crap. I'm in LOVE with the hard nose, gritty, pound the ball inside Ronnie Brown type of football...it's what I grew up with, it's what I've played in all stages as a kid (pee-wee to college) living and growing up in Florida aka the U.S. football factory so it's all I know and love. I have no patience for a player that acts the way he does. Did anyone watch the pre-game show for the Pats game last week...it was all about his finger and if he had a freakin' hang nail or had been using the wrong nail polish ...poor baby. Get a pair, grab them and get on the field. I threw up in my mouth hearing about how his finger hurts and if that would affect him.
I think the bold is a very good point on why people hate him. I have all the respect in the world for him and what he has done. But I still hate him.
I am sure pats fans are not thinking to themselves how much the love Chad Henne at the moment, I am fairly sure they would like to rip his guts out through his nose. I mean I am not sure, just a feeling I have.
I don't like him because he's a smug, know it all jerk. He makes me sick in his pressers. I also don't think he's as good as he's made out to be. I agree with pagan on his post about that. Manning and some of the other qb's atleast act like decent guys. Brady is so in love with himself, he sees nothing else. IMO I also hate most qb's that play against us. But usually as the qb's, not the person.
