Read an interview with him, it sounded to me like he was displeased with Belfort getting the shot at Silva before he did. He seems like a very down to earth guy who just wanted the fight he felt he deserved. He did not understand what Belfort did to get to jump over him into the title picture. Said he had even beat Belfort in Pride, but the UFC said they were unaware of that.
