USF hasn't won jack, but FSU is hitting rock bottom and keeping the same people in charge, Bowden may be leaving, but it's not like Fisher is some sort of genius..
Seriously. At some point in the future I could see USF fielding a team capable of competing with the three, but that time isn't now. Though they did beat FSU.
USF can kiss my you know what. They got the whooping they deserved for talking all that trash ever since we agreed to play them. It should have been worse, somewhere on the 45-3 degree, but as long as we beat the **** out of them in their house, I'll take it. Again, forget about having a few successful seasons... win some titles and then MAYBE we'll include you in the "Big 3" Florida schools, making it a "Big 4" I do wish they'd take that "U" off their helmets, though. Change the logo to a regular ol' bull.
BTW - I am 110% sure we'd be 11-1 heading to the ACC title game and most likely an Orange Bowl bid if Damien Berry was the game plan the entire season. Every fan on every forum has been calling for it. Thanks for finally realizing, Whip... hope we stick with it.
I still think we could beat Virginia Tech if given the chance again. That loss hurt for that reason. If you think about it, they got a few early breaks. Really didn't dominate the game the way the score indicated. A fumble and a blocked punt that both resulted in touchdowns. Then when we are getting back into the game, Jimmy drops two big passes. Clemson goes directly on coaching. Third and two, and you run straight at the defense. Now I'm not saying that was a bad call...I understand it. However I think play action is a better call in that situation. The defensive gameplan was bad all game, and especially in overtime. North Carolina....that was the only game where I really felt like everything just went wrong. We almost made a comeback but too little too late. I think no matter what bowl we play in, it will be a good game.
#17 BCS. #17 AP. #17 Coaches. How the hell did we not move up in the BCS? Whatever. #15 next week after Oregon State and Pittsburgh lose this week.
Being a Cane fan and an ex UCF player the Cane victory over USF was double satisfying. You have no idea how arrogant USF fans are in Tampa. It's pretty hysterical. They've been talking for years now how they were going to replace the top 3 and be the top program in FL overnight. LMAO as much today as I did when I first heard them start talking about it.
Looks like Gator Bowl or Champs Sports... Chick-Fil-A is in between, but very unlikely to take Miami due to lack of fan support traveling, which is pretty sad. If we get a Florida bowl I'll travel for sure. School will be out, so that makes it even easier for me.
Well, for the big question, did Randy Shannon earn a new contract based on ths season? I'll vote a cautious "yes", he is a good recruiter but he needs a strong Staff because he is not that great of a Gameday Coach imho.
He's earned a two or three year extension. We've improved every year under him. I'm gonna be upset of Kirby rolls out a five year multimillion deal for him though.
BTW...It will be PITT in the Gator Bowl...they are supposed to get the Big East #2... UM vs. Wanny.... who wouldn;t want that?
FSU will receive a bid in the Gator Bowl according to its President. If it happens this is the biggest bull**** I've ever seen. How can you take a 6-6 team over 9-3 Miami, 9-3 Va Tech, 8-4 Clemson, 8-4 North Carolina, and 8-4 Boston College... WTF! Isn't there a rule that states a 6-6 team cannot be placed until all 7+ win schools are? What a joke. I don't give a damn what Bowden accomplished throughout his career... he accomplished nothing that deserves a January Bowl placement in 2009-2010, which is all that matters. Florida State sucks and they deserve the worst bowl available -- that's the harsh reality. It's not fair to the schools who deserve it, and there are 7 ACC teams in front of FSU with one obviously headed to the Orange Bowl. What a load of ****.
If Florida State gets the Gator Bowl bid that also pushes everyone back. Chick-Fil-A was always the likely choice for Virgnia Tech and Champs Sports will probably take the Georgia Tech / Clemson loser. That drops Miami into Car Care or Emerald Bowl... the same caliber bid we earned at 7-5 last year. What a joke of a way to end a damn good season by our Canes due to honoring Bobby Bowden's undeserved career. Send his sorry *** team to the Music City Bowl... not my 9-3 Canes.
HD i feel what you're saying but Ferman said something today that has me thinking Music City bowl and that was: "Hope you guys like country music." 2 seconds later i puked out my lunch.
Music City Bowl vs. South Carolina / Kentucky Or Car Care Bowl vs. Pittsburgh / West Virginia FML. Playoff System or bust man. This just isn't fair. They're picking favorites, favors, and fan support for bowls now. That's ridiculous.
Randy Shannon and your boys, Take the league by storm next year. Beat the **** out of every team you face. Force them to place you into the BCS.
ACC pretty much locked into: Orange Bowl (BCS) - Georgia Tech / Clemson (Winner) Gator Bowl - Florida State Chick-Fil-A Bowl - Virginia Tech Champs Sports Bowl - Georgia Tech / Clemson (Loser) Music City Bowl - Miami (FL) Car Care Bowl - North Carolina Emerald Bowl - Boston College South Carolina or Kentucky for Miami in the Music City Bowl. Spurrier you ****er!
This is BS. We get screwed out of the bowl we deserve because 6-6 Bobby asked for it? Send his *** to Boise. That's what they did to us when we had a 6-6 coach in his last game. email Kirby and let him know he'd better not let this happen without a fight. hocutt@miami.edu
I heard on the closing segment of something ESPN that Florida State is expected to face WVU in the Gator Bowl. I don't know how true that is though. It could have been speculation or a guess on the college football analysts part.
Should be locked in as long as Cincinnati beats Pittsburgh. If not they could fall pretty badly. BTW - it looks like TCU is Orange Bowl bound as Cincinnati looks to be heading to the Sugar Bowl. Um, I'm definitely going to the Orange Bowl now. I definitely didn't want to see GaTech / Cincinnati, but I want to see TCU slap the ACC winner around like a rag doll. TCU is for real. I could see them putting up a huge fight against Florida, Bama, and Texas. Boise State & Cincinnati -- not so much.
So 4 star DT Louis Nix decommitted from Miami and committed to...... I am shocked http://rivals.yahoo.com/florida/football/recruiting/player-Louis-Nix-84329
JUst goes along with the same pattern we've seen from Randy - you play games and he pulls the offer. Just like he did with Patrick Johnson (now Peterson) and Bryce Brown.
Randy never puller his offer. He left because he wanted to not because he was forced too. Huge difference
Canes coaches havent talked to the kid in months. Coaches not calling for months = no longer interested = no offer. Thats FACT.
I am not so sure of that but I would love to see the link. When recruits have offers pulled they are no longer commits and he has been.
Have fun spending your all of your college days with a rebuilding program instead of one on the rise and ready to compete right away. We'll be fine.
BTW - anyone headed out to the Bank Atlantic Center tonight? 7-0 Canes hoops ranked 30th in both polls take on Minnesota in the ACC / Big Ten Challenge. Should be a good game. Minnesota was ranked #16 before dropping their last two. Game will be on ESPNU if you have it. If we're able to beat Minnesota and win our first ACC game @BC this week, then we'll surely crack the top 25 on Monday. Huge progress for a team that lost its best player and was given no chance in the preseason projections. We're one of only two unbeaten teams left in the ACC. Aside from Dwayne Collins and James Dews who we're all familiar with, we've got some nice young talent to floor -- Malcolm Grant and Durand Scott have been awesome.
There's a rumor going on right now that says Mark Whipple is a candidate for UVA's job and its said that he would go there in a "heartbeat" if offered.
