I hate to say this but i would love to have TO,believe he is on a 1 year contract someone correct me if im wrong.
Disagree in that I think the rookies have played better BUT he is not far behind.. IMO he is a must re-sign guy.
Ugh. That's all I can say. I thought Chris Henry would have been an UFA, he was signed to a two year deal last season. Nate Burelson and Bryant headline the Wr's. Dear lord I hope we land a stud Wr in the draft.... Posted via Mobile Device
Julius Peppers fit our scheme? Might as well put him in a Pats jersey though I bet. They need to get their butts in a room and fix this CBA. Why risk hurting the success the NFL is having. Posted via Mobile Device
went through the list and these are the guys I would be interested in: DT Vince Wilfork, NT Casey Hampton, DT Fred Robbins OLB Keith Bulluck, ILB Karlos Dansby, OLB Aaron Kampman, OLB Scott Fujita S Darren Sharper WR Jerheme Urban
Actually Miles Austin may be an option. And he has that Parcells connection. Might want to keep an eye on him the rest of the year.
i remember reading rumors on fin heaven, last year, about bringing miles austin over from dallas, then dallas put a 2nd round tender on him.
I would put Miles Austin and Antonio Bryant high on the wish list this offseason, as well as spending a high draft pick on a Dez Bryant, Golten Tate, Arrelius Benn in the first/second rounds. Keep Hartline and maybe Cam and/or Bess. That said Austin imo will likely be resigned - Bryant likely will not. The big question is Running back. What we do with Ronnie will play a big part in our offseason. Should some of the premier ILBs actually hit the market as well, we should definitely take a look - Dansby, Ruud, etc.
i was thinking the same thing. it buys one year where we can draft a wr in 2011 instead of this year. 2011 iss loaded with receivers. much better class than this one. this one we should concentrate on linebackers
I don't see how Dallas could let go of Miles Austin. He's becoming very beastly. He would be absolutely perfect for our team if we were to get him though. He's just about the only receiver I would consider giving a first rounder for, aside from maybe Brandon Marshall. I'd also be up for signing Owens.
They want to observe him over the season, but unless he utterly falls apart and dissapears, they will open the checkbook for him. And Jerrah has a big big checkbook. The most realistic FA option is Antonio Bryant, who I would welcome here. Big play guy, can be a #1.
Some big names there, we really really really need ILBs, S, and a WR or two. PFW needs to keep this current, seeings how they still have Matt Roth as a Dolphin, wonder if any other names on here have changed status already.
You'd probably have a better chance of making off with Wade Phillips before Jerry Jones lets Austin leave. It is clear that Roy Williams will be gone as soon as it is palatable. Jones will do everything but name the stadium after him to keep Austin in Dallas. He worked hard to get Williams there because he believed that he was a #1. Now he has a real #1 on his team, I find it hard to believe he will be let go in any fashion. Last year, before he had this season, they used a 2nd round tender on a player that previously a UDFA. They valued him highly before the season started. Chances are they value him a hell of a lot more now. I don't know if the Franchise Tag is still an option in an uncapped year, but if it is, chances are it goes to one person in Dallas. The only way I could see them not using the tag on Austin is if someone like Marion Barber is a FA. But, even then they are deeper at RB than they would be at receiver. Maybe we could wrangle a trade for Patrick Crayton, but that is far fetched in its own right.
If I'm not mistaken without a CBA in place teams get to use two Franchise tags, among other changes. I'll confirm it ASAP and edit post. **EDIT** It's actually a single franchise tag plus two transition tags, which is still horrible for prospective FA's. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d80864e15
Yeah, I don't think the likelihood is very great at all. I just thought he'd be one of the primary targets on that list should there be any option. I also agree that they won't keep both Austin and Williams. One of them has to go and I'd prefer Austin. Problem is, I'm sure Dallas does too.
IIRC, the Parcell connection would work against that happening. They were together in Dallas and did not part on the best terms
Id break the bank for RFA's Brandon Marshall or Vincent Jackson. Would love to get Casey Hampton to clog the middle Carlos Dansby would be a nice upgrade as well. Knowing we cant upgrade all 3 positions, I would do whatever it took to get one of the WR's.
possible free agency : W/R: 1) T.O.-Buffalo ( I know, but he's a play-maker) 2) Antonio Bryant-Tampa 3) Braylon Edwards-Jets 4) Chris Henry- Bengals NT: 1) Wilford-NE 2) C. Hampton-Pitts. QB: 1) David Carr-Giants (to compete) TE: Darren Sharper-Saints RB: Leon Washington-Jets re-sign: Brown, Jones, Fasano, Ferguson (?) & Taylor, does Williams want to return? cut lose/trade whatever: Ginnjr, Jason Allen, Joey Porter, Lionel Dotson, Moses, Kory Sheets, Martin & both offensive /defensive coordinators (add Pennington to coaching cadre if possible) ----------> and then there is the draft, looking under rocks & collecting acorns
I doubt this FO goes after any big names (hence big contracts) in the off season. It's just not their MO. Having said that, if a player comes at a perceived discount, then who knows. I want no part of TO. And, after everything that was reported from their days together in Dallas, I'm guessing Big Bill don't either. I also don't see Marshall fitting their profile (they don't call him Baby TO for nuthin'). As far as WR's go, Vincent Jackson is the one that stands out to me. But, being he's a RFA, maybe he doesn't leave SD. How 'bout Kevin Walter? Big target. Good hands. No attitude. Looks like a Parcells kind of guy to me. I think most defensive player personnel moves this off season will be done in the draft. LB, NT and S, with a double tap at the LB position a strong likelihood. Although, I wouldn't mind seeing them go after Casey Hampton or Carlos Dansby. And, how schweet would it be to land either Kirk Morrison, Barret Ruud or DeMeco Ryans for ILB?
Although I would love to see a big time FA WR or a first round WR pick, I just get the feeling this FO is going defensive first. Maybe a couple ILB, a NT, possibly new S? Who knows though, we will have to wait and see, thats just my gut with this FO.
These; DT Jason Ferguson, CB Nathan Jones, TE David Martin, QB Chad Pennington, OLB Jason Taylor. Plus; Miles Austin & Vince Wilfork
Maybe we can sign Marty booker to a 10 day deal and trade him to the bears for Ogunleye before he hits FA. Otagwe - S from St. Louis would be a stellar RFA pickup. Don't imagine that will happen though. I'm sure Austin will get resigned in Dallas, he's their #1 now. Not a lot of quality interior LB's hitting the market. Could be a sign that we look for one in the draft early in rounds 1-3.
The only thing that scares me is his mouth,He already had said he does not like the play calling in buffalo
The Pats are going to resign Wilfork guys. Its the entire reason that Seymour was dealt. The only reason some of these people (Wilfork, Jackson, Austin) havent been reupped yet is that owners and agents are waiting for an official pronouncement on how the offseaon will go and any news beyond that of the CBA.
Our best and most realistic hope for a WR in free agency is Antonio Bryant, though he will certainly be looking to sign a big money contract.
