And thats 0-0-3 with 3 straight OT losses lol.
Tavares is an animal. G and A tonight. 5 points in 3 games. Now we just gotta get the kid some help. A healthy Dipietro and some defensive help would be a nice start. :)

I hope the performance my Bruins are putting forth today is not a harbinger of things to come for the Phins today. Their pentaly kill is 68% right now, just AWFUL and they just gave up a shorty on a clear cut breakaway.

Andrew Ference needs to go right now. Matt Hunwick can join him. Peter Chiarelli needs to fix the defense right now. they have a million draft picks to deal. Flip their own first (don't trade the Leafs pick) and another pick to someone for a defenseman.

Julien needs to fix the penalty kill, that is a coaching thing. They are siting back and letting teams collapse down on them.

They are not getting big saves when they need them. Tuukka has been good again today, he's had a couple of bad bounces but sometimes you need your goaltender to stand on his head to give you some momentum.

It's early though. They need a road trip. They've been home for 2 weeks. You get too comfortable, spending time with the family and friends. They need to get away from that, get some good practice time in, get hammered and play a few grind it out ugly road games.

Hey my isles got their first win. Of course it wasn't easy. We blew 3-1 lead in 1:08 late in the third before winning in the shootout. Only took 7 games

Is there any guilty pleasure that beats cheering for a team to lose because you own their draft pick? God, it's fun cheering against the Leafs this year.

Also, it's fun to listen to 98.5 Boston streaming radio and not fork out a ton of money for the NHL package.

My Isles are hanging around for a playoff spot at 9-8-7...but still buried in last in the ridiculously hard Atlantic division.

On the good side Tavares has been the real deal, Matt Moulson has been a find, and our forwards as a whole can really skate. Dipietro is almost back as well. They can start shopping Biron now and may they can get a defenseman worth a damn because the only one we have is Streit

Congrats to Martin Brodeur for tying Terry Sawchuck's SO record of 103.

And since dropping their first two games of the season the Devils have gone 20-5-1 despite at times fielding half of an AHL team due to injuries to SIX regulars, just an amazing team.

Ahh...football season is over, the Draft is not really a sport.

    Time to follow some NHL.

My Hurricanes are unwatchable, the Sabres look surprisingly good for a team that missed the playoffs.

Ryan Miller is a decent goalie, no Hasek, but good.

My Isles are hanging in there and on the verge of getting Dipietro back. Anyone think they can ride his significant skills in to a playoff spot if he stays healthy? He should represent an upgrade over Roloson if he is as good as he was pre-injury. They probably need another goal scorer to get there, maybe two imo.

I have to say I am quite pleased with them this year though. I thought this was a bottom 5 team team at the start of the year but Scott Gordon is a hell of a good coach and the young talent is blooming a year or so earlier then I expected.

Far be it for me to defend anything Ranger related or John Tortarella but Larry Brooks is such a hack and the Post such a rag I hope Torts continues to put him in his place.

On the + side my Isles are still playing well and beat the Panthers who the Isles never seem to beat!

I LOVE that trade as a Bruins fan.

Burke shipped out his best D-man (Ian White), a decent center (Stajan) and a good winger (Hagman) for a guy who is the most overrated player in the league.

The Leafs have trouble scoring so they trade away 50 goals and 100+ total points? Where is their scoring going to come from?

Burke did a few good things though...

1.) Unloaded Blakes contract. That was a good move but trumped by taking Giggy's contract back.

2.) He got Keith Aulie in the deal. He has a ton of potential.

This deal is about the future. Aulie could be good and if Phaneuf ever decides to work at his game again he CAN be a #1. He was a #3 in Calgary though. don't buy the hype, he's been TERRIBLE for the last 18 months.

Giggy is not an upgrade in any way shape or form. His numbers are brutal (and before anyone says he is playing on a bad team go look at Jonas Hiller's numbers playing for the same team).

Potentially a good deal going forward for the Leafs. Burke will buy Giggy out at the end of the year and he's rid of Blake's contract. He'll have cap room in the summer to sign some forwards but right now it is a bad deal.

BTW...my Bruins are terrible and can't score, that's why I've been absent from this thread for a while...LOL!

  32. phunwin

phunwin Happy kids are Dolfans. Luxury Box

I thought they gave up an awful lot for Phaneuf. Too much, in fact. Ian White has been really good this year; he and Kaberle have been the only things keeping that Leafs D from looking like an AHL unit. Given that they were giving up Hagman and Stajan, quality players both, I'm surprised they couldn't get away with foisting Mike Komisarek off on the Flames. They gave up 2 of their 4 best forwards, and didn't upgrade their defense a ton. So I'm okay with that deal.

The Giguere trade, though, I'm not quite on board with you. Giguere is overrated, yes. People still think of him as the dude who backstopped the Ducks to the Cup, but he's not, and hasn't been for a couple years. Last season, he hit the wall and hasn't gotten better. So, no, he's not going to steal a ton of games for them. However, it's impossible to overstate how awful Vesa Toskala has been. He hasn't been bad, he's been the NHL's worst player by a decent margin. Upgrading from Toskala to even a below-average goalie (like JSG) is a big move. And Jason Blake's not exactly a prize. They offloaded one dreadful player and one crummy one for a below-average goalie. If it saves them 2 games, that could be just enough to knock the B's out of the top 3 picks.

Giggy better stand on his head because the Leafs won't be scoring any goals.

I still like the deal for the Bruins. The Monster is capable of stealing some games but he'll see less ice now because Giggy is there.

We're picking top 3. I just wish the Oilers were not DREADFUL so we could make a run for Taylor Hall.

I really like Tyler Miles he reminds more of a Flyer style player than the typical Sabres AVIS smallish try harder player.

    another possible trade going down:
    Rags gets: Olli Jokinen
Flames get: Chris Higgins, Ales Kotalik

Per Rotoworld its official but on WFAN radio its on hold right now as the flames are supposedly waiting to sign off on it.

Off the top of my head I think he's actually 6'6".

He's Zdeno Chara with Scott Niedermayer's wheels. Dude covers half the rink in 3 strides. He's my Calder winner.
