Big day of Carolina football games for the tomorrow. Gotta hope on a wing & a prayer that Duke beats Georgia Tech at noon. And even if they don't, we still need to make sure Miami leaves UNC with a win. I didn't even realize that our football team has never won in Chapel Hill before, hope to change that little stat tomorrow afternoon at 3:30 (game is on ABC). Let's get it done Canes!
Another blown beauiful drive by a ridiculously thrown floater that wobbles right into the defenders hands by Jacory. I don't understand this dumb offense. We've got eveything working perfectly and we blow it with an unncessary shot down the field on first down.

This team will win nothing with Randy Shannon as the coach. Nothing at all. All he can do is recruit and be a good disciplinarian. As for the going deep, I love it. Going deep isn't the problem, it's Jacory's decision making that is. Just becayse the play is designed to go deep doesn't mean you have can't check it down. Jacory will learn that, hopefully. He has all the physical tools to be a great QB. The pass defense has been **** all year, so nobody should be too surprised when they suck. Run defense was great, then got owned when it mattered most on that last drive of the game. Main thing is, we're going nowhere with Randy Shannon.
What a disappointing day of football. I started to get excited with the comeback but then that swift kick in the nuts came with the int & runback for the td. Can't seem to ever get it done in Chapel Hill. Another year of hot & cold weeks of Hurricanes football down the tubes. I know there's two weeks left but who cares, there's always next year.
I know I say a lot of things off quick reaction when I'm pissed, and you guys know it too from the Dolphins AND Canes games threads... ****, Heat too. But man, I really mean it when I say that Jacory Harris single handedly blew this season down the drain for us. We had the ACC right in our hands and blew it because of a loss to an inferior opponent at home. That's pathetic. Even after that embarrassment in our own stadium, we had a BCS at large bid in our hands with USC's loss, IMO. Blew that too. Talk about the defense all you want. Talk about the coaching. Talk about the injuries. Talk about the poor special teams coverage unit, especially against Clemson. Talk about simply not being able to beat Butch. Screw all of that garbage. I'm talking about the 4 INT, 3 (or 4?) in North Carolina territory WHILE THREATENING TO SCORE, 2 of which were returned for 14 points. That's what killed us today. That's what killed us against Clemson (the pick 6) when momentum was CLEARLY shifting in our favor. Not only are we giving up possessions but we're giving up points. That is the recipe to lose. I love Jacory Harris. He's my favorite active football player aside from Ed Reed, pro or college (obviously), but come on... please learn from this and tear it up next year. You've got the talent, smarts, passion, and most importantly that poise and killer instinct. Look, **** North Carolina and Clemson. They suck in comparison to The U... and not our potential, but RIGHT NOW. Call me bitter all you want, but I don't give a damn. I can say that confidently. We blew our chances this year, and I really WANT it to be because of the youth on this team. I sure hope so. We shot ourselves in the foot in both games. We had no business losing neither one. Coulda woulda shoulda... call me sore... I sound like a Jets fan... blah... but I won't credit neither program. To hell with them.
Nonetheless, I have complete 110% confidence that we're an ACC crowned BCS team in 2010 and a National Title FAVORITE going into the 2011 season. I am sold on it. I have blamed Shannon quite a bit in the past as well, but as mentioned and credited for recruiting, that's just it... his recruits. This team is being anchored in large part by a group that cannot even purchase alcohol yet (legally). Of course they struggle to live up to the pressure. We didn't win the title in Dorsey's first year as a starter, did we? And he sure had a lot more vet leadership on that team. Maybe this is a blessing. Honestly although I really wanted that BCS bid... we probably get CRUSHED by one of the many experienced teams competing for a BCS birth. Now we can go into a Bowl game against most likely an inferior opponent, and taste victory of a winning a trophy to ready ourselves for postseason play next year. Should have done that last year against Cal's garbage *** team, but whatever. These kids don't know the feeling yet. Not on this level. Get your Bowl win. Hold your trophy. Watch Bama or Florida on TV weeks later with the bigger and badder trophy in hand... GET HUNGRY FOR IT. I mean, that's as optimistic as one can be right now.
Dude we won a title with Larry Coker... if you stock pile that talent to a certain degree and build an actual TEAM out of it (rather than a bunch of individuals), YOU WILL WIN. Quite frankly, I've yet to see this team get completely out coached aside from the Va Tech game where we simply didn't show up as a whole.
Honestly, though, and sorry to spam... I don't think I've ever seen a QB throw the ball into double, triple, and/or tight coverage as much as Jacory does. And the craziest part is, he does it on 1st down the majority of the time. I don't get it. I truly don't. Sometimes (most, actually) he doesn't even look at any of his other options. He needs to have his rights to throw the deep ball to anyone but a wide open receiver or a receiver in man coverage revoked. Don't know why he doesn't scramble more. Don't know why he stopped stepping into the pocket once it collapses like he did in the beginning of the year. Don't know why he doesn't check down or throw it away. Only thing I do know, and this is dating back to my ties with Northwestern... this kid is a grinder. He's a worker. He's a study-a-holic. He WILL get it together whether it's next week or next season. He will mature. We need to convert completely to the spread offense next year though. He's made for it and we've got the personnel. Don't care who agrees or disagrees.

I would be pissed if Iowa went to the Champs Sports Bowl. I am expecting at the very least, the Capitol One Bowl... unless we lose to Minnesota this weekend.
We need to go to the Ice bowl. It feels like we got kicked in the nuts last weekend. It's just not our time right now. We've had to be kinda mediocre for awhile. After six years it just wears on you a bit. Another lackluster year, going to a bs bowl that doesn't mean much of anything. Enjoy your Championship run Skeet.
We do know the feeling (sorta), we did have Ron Zook for a few years too many. Seriously, for a team with such a great history as UM, it is hard not to be on top. Good news, just like the phins, it does look like they are going in the right direction!
The best case scenario for a Bowl would be the Emerald Bowl vs. USC. then...a matchup with Notre Dame would come in a close second. But a matchup with USC would be a dream.

HD..get with it...it is now tradition...if Jacory does not throw that 1st quarter INT...he can;t play. Nice game for him in the end. Big conversions..Berry was a beast and the D made a play. onto to USF..beat them..and let's get in the gator bowl... in the end...it pisses me off we lost the games we did... but if we end up 10-3...come on..you gotta be damn happy.
Yeah, our guys looked terrible in the first half, but holding Duke to 3 points and scoring 24 on them in the 2nd half was a nice job.
When I looked at the schedule I predicted 8-4, so I'd be thrilled with a 9-3 finish, although after the early success it'd be a disappointing finish but one that I could live with since this team is so young and extremely inexperienced. As for Jacory, as I've stated many times... he's my favorite player and I have high hopes for him in the future. He's the QB I see leading this program to its first ACC title and getting us at least into the National Title talks in 2010 and 2011. But he's got to get it together and limit the mistakes. I kind of want to blame Whipple for Jacory's recent struggles. Why on earth are we throwing the football so much? 45 pass attempts? Come on. This game got blown out of reach for Duke when Damien Berry touched the football -- coincidence? I think not. Right now he's the best player on this offense. He's the complete package. We're throwing the football 10 consecutive plays and using the PLAY ACTION on all of them without running the football to set it up. It makes no sense! Sometimes I question whether or not that's Patrick Nix calling the plays, and it shouldn't seem so because Whipple is a damn good OC. We're just airing it out far too much. We're going for the home run on every play when we have the personnel to chip away and get down the field much safer... and easier. This defense is banged up big time and they're on the field far too much. We can't have a first half like we've been having the entire second half of the season @USF. We can't afford to. We NEED that Gator Bowl... January play. It'd mean all the world for this young group's confidence to win out, especially in a pretty big bowl outside of the BCS. Our ACC schedule next year (not to look ahead, but oh well) is the easiest it'll ever be avoiding Blacksburg and Chapel Hill. I'm not worried about Georgia Tech that much without Dwyer (and hopefully Nesbitt and/or Thomas as well). They're going to lose their bread and butter to this next year's draft class.
Anyway, I want to beat the CRAP out of USF. They've been running their mouths a ton lately -- going as far as to saying Florida no longer has a big 3, there is a big 4 now. Are they kidding? They might be a bit relevant of a program currently, but there is no history at all behind such a statement. Win some titles, then put yourself into the elite in this state. You're NOT there. In fact, probably NEVER will be.
