this im not 100% he'll be terrible. but leave it to the jets to nickname guys "sanchize" and "mangenius" WAY prematurely.
You see, but that's the beauty of it. Sanchez was mediocre in 1 year at USC. His mechanics are awkward, he is not nearly mature enough to lead a team, and Pete Carrol was right , he definately needed another year in College (I think perhaps 2 if he had the eligibility). Tack on that, the Jests traded away the draft for this kid and viola, epic FAIL!!!!
Where have all our Jet fans gone? You know they would be all over here if they had been winning. They are 1-4 in the division.
The main difference between Henne and Sanchez IMO is that Henne actually learns from his mistakes, when he throws a pick he doesnt get rattled and throws 3 more picks, nope he stays calm and leads (Or tries to anyway, assuming the WRs hold onto the ball) his team down the field. Who?
Sorry to bring this thread back up after a few days, nice bebate going on here, so here a my 2 pennies worths... Sanchez still ha a lot to learn and to rememebr to learn as well... Looking at his 10 game stats, it shows that he has had 3 or more Turn Overs in 3 of these games (NO, Bills and NE)... He has also has a combine 21 Turn Overs (INTs, and Fumbles) till now... How they won the frst 3 games??? All of 4 Turn Overs in those games helped the cause... Sanchez does seem to have the skills (arm, scrambling abilty) to be an NFL QB, but does he have the intangibles (reading D's, QB smarts)??? That is the question and IMO Rex Ryan is hindering him from progressing, by keeping him on the field intead of in the "classroom" and learning the game from the sidelines... Henne, well after a year on the sidelines, he goes and throws a pick 6 in the SD game... Some of us came out and said, including myself, he had not learn a thing... and we were going to be in bad shape for the rest of the year... Well what a surprise he has turned out to be... Sure he had still made mistakes early, sacks, and a few bone head INTs, but over all he has played really well and exceded most of our expectations... he has progressed game by game, limiting mistakes made previously... A year of coaching and watching the games from the sidelines have served him well... Henne is 5-2 as a starter, everyone knows that, and you can just about say that if his receivers did not have a case of the dropsies he could have been 6-1 or 7-0... In these last 7 games, the Fins have not lost because of Henne, the case of the Jets (IMO), it was from lack of playmakers when it counted the most... something that Sanchez has had more of (playmakers) with the Jets, IMO... Sanches, by all accounts, shows talent and skills but seem to lack the ability to remember... He is not just a rookie, but with one year of College QB play, he is a Pre-Rookie, that really never got coached properly at the College level... and now he is being let out to the wolves and to fend for himself... Seems like Ryan is missing this point as a HC, the kid has to learn and memorize the fundamentals first and foremost before letting him out on the field, which could affect his career in two ways, IMO and I am not coach, so correct me if I am wrong... If Sanchez is let to continue and the outcomes are about the same... 1-It will lengthen his QB maturation process, might take more than 3 years to be able to judge him correctly... 2- Will cause friction with his team mates, since they mostly have the capability to win now... 3- Will cause personality conflict within Sanchez himself, which can ruin his confidence or set him back... 4- Will eventually improve his performance, though I do believe there is the slightest chance this happens this year... 5- Big locker room issues could rise and Ryan could loose the team, but doubt this will happen since it seems that the team has bought into the Ryan scheme since TC... Unless the Jets finish last in the AFC East... Ugly... their players and fans thought they would be in the Post Season after 3 games... Yes Dolfans, we are extremely lucky to have Parcells bring in Sporano and company to steer our beloved team... there is no mis-undertanding that the Jets could have a good/great QB in their team, but their HC has really no clue how to get it out of him consistantly and most of their fans are just as clueless (just like me at times)... It takes more than just a great QB to perform and succeed, it takes a good HC to give him the resources on the field to help him succeed... both Sporano and Ryan have done this for their QBs, but you win in planning and preparation first (IMO), then you can take it to the field... Preparation is what Mark Sanchez is missing and what Ryan is also lacking in...
Sanchez should have spent more time studying & practicing and less time doing his pretty boy photo spread. Unless he improves in these final games the NY media is going to chew him up.
In all fairness, Henne had a year sitting behind Pennington and is still tutored by Pennington. Sanchez does not have a Veteran to lean on for help unless you count Clemens. Not having a veteran backup was a huge mistake by the Jets. I think Sanchez will be a good QB still (Although I do love watching him struggle)
Exactly. Where are all the Jets fans? Oh yeah, I forgot...hiding under a rock. Just like last season after the epic fail after starting 8-3. Sanchez is the next Ryan Leaf. Plain and simple....the Jets are who we thought they were.
