    Don't kill the messenger.

I would love nothing more than for Ginn to succeed. Team first! I just have zero confidence in him succeeding.

    LETS GO PHINS!

He's good for a play here and there......this is a good night for him to make one of his rare appearances. We could damn sure use it.

And regardless of who the starters are, Ginn isn't being denied opportunities to make a play. Tonight should be no different, he needs to step up, earn his pay and show us why we should keep him around. The chances to do this are being laid in his hands and he just keeps dropping them.

These next several games are make or break for Teddy

Whoo! I wish we had more threads trashing out players on a night we won the game!

It's funny - I honestly think people would rather Ginn fail than us win games.

Tonight's numbers will hopefully get him lower on the list. He played very well and made some great sideline catches. I think they are finding there groove with Henne...

You do realize that this thread was started before the game, right?

All this thread did was show his totals since Henne has been the starter. So that aside...are you saying you were happy with Ginn's numbers? Are you saying he shouldn't be called out, win or lose?

    Here are the updated numbers:

    Thrown to: 24
    Receptions: 10
    Rec Yards: 116
    Yards per Rec: 11.6
    Drops: 7

Those are numbers that make you happy? fwiw...that is over 8 games.

Look...I am thrilled we won the game tonight. I am thrilled that Ginn didn't drop a pass and helped the team instead of hurting the team. However, his performance as a whole this year is the story. Just because we won doesn't mean Ginn gets a free pass for his previous games.

4 catches for 32 yards didn't help his numbers. The 0 drops is nice, but he is still tied for 3rd most in the NFL. Though haynos might have tied him in this game alone. Ugh.

I agree with you the guys numbers have been bad all year. Today's game will hopefully get him going in the right direction. He has a long way to go before he will not be brought up in our threads. If the guy can make a turn around with today's game that would be awesome. The numbers do not lie, a zero will kill any average but if the guy starts making up for what he has done bad so far this season and helps us in winning games, than I would think the numbers could fade and loose importance as he builds and starts holding on to the ball!!!!

I would love nothing more than that. I just don't have the confidence in him to do so. I hope to be proven wrong because the only thing that matters to me is the success of the team. Either you are helping push that success or you are standing in the way of it. Right now he has been on the see-saw.

I'm sorry...you must not have seen all my other posts on this topic or on any other subjects. The purpose of a message board is to put information out there for discussion. That is what I did. I don't care if it is dead horse or not...it is still a topic of discussion with this team. Sorry if this concept is new to you.

It was a something NFL Network showed on the screen during pregame in a discussion abourt Ginn. I paused the screen so I could type out the info. If you need further proof, find someonme who recorded the pregame and ask them for a screenshot.

Well, I think you need to defend your thread... others state they have different numbers.. someone is wrong.. back up your numbers with proof or the entire thread is invalid. The burdon of proof is upon you, it is your thread.

btw.. you should leave your ***OFFICIAL*** thread title "joke" on the website you found it, we have an infraction catagory for deceptive thread titles.. hate to apply it to you.. :wink2:

Really? Reread the subject line of the thread. "Since Henne has been starter"

Now...lets look at these numbers by the game:

    Buffalo: 4 yards
    Jets: 57 Yards
    Saints: 16 yards
    jets: 0 yards
    NE: 7 yards
    TB: 0 Yards

Now you tell me where that was wrong? I am sorry that you didn't see " ***OFFICIAL*** Ted Ginn Jr's stats since Henne has been the starter...".

TO has been high on that list for years. However, he has also been very productive as well for most of those years.

The only ones I would put in the elite category at this point are Randy Moss, DeSean Jackson, and Roddy White. As with TO, these guys still produce. They might drop one here or there, but you can live with that because of what they still put up game in and game out.

The next level is Gates, Holmes, Colston and Avery.

Ginn, imo, isn't in the category with any of them right now. Could he be? Possibly. But he needs to show it and show it over a period of time. A flash here or there just doesn't cut it.

My only and final thoughts on Ginn. He's a great Kick Returner... THAT'S IT.... he is NOT the Devin Hester we thought he was... and if you want to crown his *** then CROWN HIM.... wait.. sorry...
Fact is, I think we need to make a serious play at Anquan Boldin this offseason. He has expressed great interest in Miami, and with Zona's new golden child Steve Breaston... Boldin is on his way out.... Let's get this done and FINALLY get a deffinite #1 guy.

I am still wondering why we don't see Ginn at PR. I mean, we did draft a punt returner, right? Also, Bess with his 99% fair catch rate is just not getting it done.

A couple of things ... since I actually saw the segment in context of what we're talking about.

1)The Drops piece was in the context of a total season thing ... they just added it as a footnote to the overall discussion. Deon took Ted to task.

    2) I've been charting Henne's attempts and completions by receiver since he took over. The other numbers are correct ... up until last night he only had 6 catches from Henne since he started against Buffalo (NFL Network actually did Ginn a favor here, and ignored his 4 targets against the Chargers).

    3) It doesn't seem like much, but when you go from averaging 1 catch a game to catching 4 in a game that's a very positive sign. And - here's a good stat - this is the first time since Henne took over that his target to catch ratio has been above 50%. It was 66% last night, 4 catches on 6 targets.

I think part of this has to do with Ginn being involved in the passing game beyond just deep balls. He showed in Indy that he can do a lot of the underneath stuff. We got away from using him in our normal passing game and turned him into a one-trick pony, not that he didn't deserve it with some of his drops, but I think any player is better when you give him chances to make some easy catches and get in a rhythm.

Also - the targets to catches thing is somewhat misleading for a guy who rarely gets passes under 20 yards. The percentage of catchable balls decreases significantly. I don't see this as a stat that means much of anything - if it were possible to see targets by length of throw I think it would be interesting as well (Bess probably catches everything because almost everything is <10 yards. Ginn is the opposite.)

Just for the record - Ginn's hands have been horrible before last night - not trying to defend him, just the use of targets to catches.
