I voted for Jake long... simply because we need help on the o-line. I know if he turns out to be a RT instead of a LT, it really makes one question using a #1 pick on him. I ALSO mainly made the choice of Jake Long based on the fact that Jason Taylor is still on the roster. In a sense that slightly eliminates the immediate need for Chris Long.

Our offensive line clearly still has holes to fill. This makes Jake Long a sensible pick. Part of me still would rather have Chris Long, but like i said, i voted for Jake because we need help on the OL, if JT is here, our front 7 on our D seems to be ok.

As for Glenn Dorsey... I dont trust his health. The report floating around in the Draft Forum about him not wanting to have another medical check done so teams can further inquire about his leg, just really makes me lose all confidence in choosing him, especially with a #1 pick.

With Zach now gone, and Jason probably retiring (or traded) sometime in the near future I believe Chris will step into that captain role with ease.

btw, I'm not opposed to drafting Jake, I'd just prefer Chris and would be happy with either.

I want the name called to be Long. I'd rather have Jake but I won't be unhappy with Chris.

Chris Long! He is the best player in the draft for our system. He has the talent to be an elite player and the character and work ethic to make his teammates better and be the leader of this defense for the next decade. If it's Dorsey I'll be a little disappointed, but not too upset. If it's Jake Long, I'll be a little upset, but hope he can prove me wrong and be a great LT. If it's Ryan I'll be very upset, but pray he proves me wrong.

Deep down, I want Jake Long, and hope his desire and drive are enough to overcome the little deficit I see in his athleticism needed at Left Tackle. Personally, I want a large, mobile, agile and hostile (to borrow a phrase) front line, and I would not mind if the first two picks were O linemen. But in this day and age, I don't think it will happen simply because of the economics involved.

I also think that the Phins will pick Chris Long first because Defense is always the strong suit in consistent Championship caliber teams, and it appears that the team will be built around a stultifying defense, and an adequate offense. It also appears to be Parcells & Co. modus operandi.

I have neither the suspicion, nor the inclination to draft Matt Ryan. I'd rather take Matt Flynn in the 6th, and let McCown and Beck have at it.

The two tackles, Dorsey and Ellis, could work, but it would take some effort from what we have been told. But, basically, I don't like the 3-4 as a staple anyway so I don't know enough about it to really have an opinion other than it is the defense d'jour right now. Therefore it is being employed more and more throughout the league. I'd much rather be able to play a solid base 4-3 with the capacity to take out a DL and put in another LB than be stuck in the 3-4 (as Shula did in the old 53 Defense.) It more than likely won't be more than a few seasons before some of the Offensive gurus figure out a better way to attack it, and some other variant of a base defense will become the fad. What all this basically means is that Dorsey and Ellis will probably be way out in left field as far as the Dolphins are concerned on draft day, and we'll go whale hunting for someone to fill the middle of the dLine.

    Ah, well...

Glenn Dorsey... with all of my might. I know he is a 4-3 DT, Richard Seymour was also a 4-3 DT and he was turned into the text book of how to play 3-4 DE. The point here is that I saw Dorsey be the spirit and the anchor of a LSU team that was the NCAA champion. I saw him be the most important cog in a team and the most dominant defensive player of any position in the nation.

He just is the better player.

I uderstand your points and they are good ones but who knows how long Jason Taylor will be in the Nfl or he might be traded so I think it is important we get Chris Long and plus Jason Taylor will be playing outside line backer and he Chris Long would be playing line if Jason Taylor is still here

They said it is really hard to trde out of the top 5 now so looks like you are going to be seeing Chris Long in a Miami Dolphins uniform hopefully. I would be happy with Chris Long or Jake LOng but I would like if we picked Chris Long better.

I want to pass on the pick until we hit a reasonable salary slot (aroung pick 4 or 5), then select whoever remains of: Dorsey, C.Long, J. Long, or M. Ryan.

Unless someone offers to trade up.

I agree, not to mention he is a leader. Dorsey is my pick. I would be ok with Chris Long, less ok but still ok with Jake Long and probably needing to replace a TV if it is Ryan ...

Isn't it great that a month before the draft, the pick can only be narrowed to about 4 players... I would take Chris Long myself, but I'm not the experts. If Tunaland decides to take Jake or Glenn, so be it and I'll still be happy. Other than Ryan, I wouldn't be disappointed. It's going to be fun for the next 3 weeks though...
