Right, there in lies my point. you can do that stuff and not try to seek out people like ap does lol. Ronnie and ricky are frieght trains, but like you said they'll do it with a grin, or be just as happy to not be physical. guys like ap i dont think are happy unless they are physical. big difference. we need ted ginn to be like ricky and ronnie in that he doesnt seek it out, like a smith, but if its there he accepts it.

I actually think ted ginn has risen to the challenge alot so far. I think what will dictate his future now, is can he find that final level, from good/descent to good/great. I don't care if the media does it, or he just works his *** off just out of his own desire to get there. I do think given reports, it will be the latter more then the former though.

Ginn had a good day but it will not make up for what he has missed,I think we keep him as a Kr and call it even till his contract is done....

I agree, we need Ginn to be a consistent performer and aggressive but not to the level as Smith is for example. I, however, would not mind if he did go in the direction of Smith but I dont' see that happening.

I'm not sure yet about him rising to the challenge. I think this game is a start but prior to this game, he hadn't really made any progressions on a weekly basis in terms of catching the ball. I think this game is a step in the right direction, however. I just think he has to continue it, similarly to what you said about finding the next level. I say next only because I think he still has a bit to go before he becomes a good player in this league. His aggression must be there, even if it's not all about physicality, and I think he has to simply catch the ball. I can't say anything about his work ethic because I am not able to attend practices but I'll say this; his route running is not too impressive. I missed today's games but I did watch games prior to this week and his route running isn't pretty. It looked pretty good in the past but this year, it's dropped a notch in my opinion. I don't know why however.

I really didn't like the playcalling, but I think their idea was to pass to set up the run. It was clear they didn't respect our passing game with 8-9 men in the box... Was that because Ginn wasn't in much (I didn't see him in the game more than 10 snaps, honestly)? I don't know, but I do know one thing... The offense is DAMN lucky defense and special teams did more than their share.

caught them by surprise on first pass play and completely shut down for the other 59 minutes. But yeah, so long as he plays aginst CBs that have zero repsect for him he has a chance

His progression from year to year to year is apparent. He is running far better routes this year than the last two. The drops are a recent problem and nothing to be concerned about at this stage. The biggest problem I see right now is consistency. He needs to bust his *** every single week and not try to coast. He takes plays off and hass off weeks. For him to rise to that next level he has to become more professional about the game and less schoolyard. The ability is there to be Reggie Wayne or DeSean Jackson. He just needs to do it every week instead of every other week or every two weeks. Its too early to write him off. He's still getting better and he has game changing ability

Did you guys see the sideline replay after Ginn's touchdown (not sure if it was the first or second one)... but they showed Hartline, and his mouth was wideopen cheering like crazy. The guy who replaced Ginn was happy for him. I know they are both OSU and all, but that was great to see.

Ginn was in there some himself during those 59 minutes......

Ever see Ginn catch a short slant and run for big yardage?

Ever see him make more than maybe a few catches in his entire career that weren't easy to make catches?

Ever see the defense act like omg, it's Ted Ginn?

Hartline deserves a look, if Ted is in there as well fine. But the fact he's shown a chemistry with Henne and a knack for making a play, says we need to get him more snaps.

This "oh no we need Ginn as a decoy" stuff is a pointless argument when teams have been stacking the box on us regardless of the situation.

He was also right there on the sideline with Ted following the return, right in his face, pumping him up and showing he had his back.

First of all, he had no receptions today and the only way you can say he is getting better is by cherry picking the few plays he's made all year and being confused and adding his returns to the mix.....

His routes are being questioned by a bunch of former fins receivers..

And I'm sorry but those aren't "drops".......that's him showing what a limited receiver he is. He rarely makes anything but easy catches......he's pitiful in traffic or if he's required to jump and catch the ball.

He has a place on this team but as our number one WR he's a joke.....

Honestly, I don't see the route running being better. I actually think his route running last year was much better. I think the drops are a concern at this stage; he's going into his third year here and he's still struggling to hold on to the football. They aren't as big of a concern as a blogger/writer may make it out to be but I think they are a concern because it's holding back his development into a complete player.

I agree that he has potential but the difference between those two guys and Ginn is that they attack the ball.

Last, I'm not writing him off. Still too early in his development. I'll write him off if this time next year, he's still playing at the same level. Game changing ability is useless if you don't put it to use and at the moment, he's not putting it to full use because he's not holding on to the ball consistently.

Yes. He had a 60+ yarder on a slant against the Bills last year.

That's a tough one to remember although the catch against the Seahawks is one of the best I have ever seen.

I'm not sure how we could really know that.

I agree. Hartline has earned it.

I also agree that the stretch the field argument is used too often when it's not really backed up by evidence.

Why, yes actually. Revis made it his mission to not let Ginn behind him again. Easy enough, Ginn only played on a couple of pass plays (he was on the field for plays not designed to pass to him).

Everytime Ginn wasn't on the field Revis' heartbeat probably slowed down a little.

On his route running: I think he is better this year in that he is seeing the field and coverage’s better, going to the right spot, or making the right cut. He still rounds off his longer routes, but IMO he always will. He is a long strider, and that makes a difference as far as crisp cuts at full speed go. He is moving so fast that it doesn't matter though, because the DB cannot keep up. Which is why the drops are so noticeable, he is open. He has gotten open more consistently this year than last IMO.

A lot of the same people that are defending Ginn to the death on here I remember defending CHRIS CHAMBERS the very same way and yet when we traded him away it was great that we got something for him blah blah blah.

Its nothing personal against Ginn fellas but the fact is we need a better WR than what he is.

sure you do. You bench the guy to get it in his head that he needs to perform and not just coast along. Hopefully it chaps his *** that somebody (in his mind) not as good as him has taken his spot, AND it motivates him to get better and take his spot back.

Great read Marty. 22 snaps isn't a significant amount, as Sparano noted, but he made the difference on the scoreboard. I think they can continue to give him roughly 30 to 35 snaps per game but use him in several areas. I think what the coaching staff did with Ginn is limit him a bit and limit themselves a little bit. They were so hard pressed on him being a flanker that they basically didn't allow him to do anything else. He's had, what three hand offs since he's been here? How many times has he lined up in the slot? I don't recall much. What about screen passes? Slants? He's just now getting on kick offs. They tried to make him a top notch wideout and develop his game and it has backfired a little I'd say. However, at the same time, I can understand why they would try and develop his game.

I think the offense failed cause we tried to force a power game down an 11 man front. Think any WR on our team besides Ginn worries Revis? Doubt it. And with him covering Hartline and the others most of the game it was cake with our 1 WR formations. We tried to power a defense that said screw it and dared us to beat them with anything over 10-15 yards. Basically i feel we needed to spread them out with different sets, take away some of that blitz power. We got 4 WR's, use them, since they are better then Fasano. Having one out there being covered by Revis is a win for them. We needed to make plays against the other corners.

So yes our whole offensive gameplan sucked, i agree totally.
