My question is if we go, for example, 6 - 0 in the division but have a losing record overall ( 7 - 9 for example ). Do we still get the playoff birth because we won the division? Anyone have a link that explains the playoff tie breakers and such? Current Standings: http://www.nfl.com/standings The Pats game will be huge if the above is true. We would have to win both this game and then the Bills @ buffalo, but at that point we would lock the playoffs up.. is that possible?
Researched it a bit and it looks like it is the overall record first and then divisional record second... oh well.
Team within Division with best overall record wins Division. If teams end with same overall record, record within the division is winner. After that I think it goes to record against common opponents and then points scored vs points allowed.
Right. Division record means nothing if you don't have the best overall record. It's only used as a tiebreaker if overall records are the same.
Yea. I always thought it was overall record, but I heard some quotes that made me question that. I was just double checking. Glad you could contribute to the thread. Stay classy my man. Stay classy.
You shouldn't concern yourself. The Jests aren't going to have ANY of the qualifying criteria so it really doesn't matter
I would have thought that the person originally asking about a real question would know the answer. If the guy doesn't know and wants to learn why can't he ask? Thats one way I learn things, if you're afraid to ask, then you won't know very much about anything.
