Who have you seen? Who do you want to see? And who should the Dolphins be looking at? I believe the three biggest needs for the Dolphins are:

    1. A big time safety like a Brian Dawkins, Ed Reed, or Bob Sanders who would take our defense to another level. The obvious choice is Eric Berry. However he is a likely Top Ten pick and the Dolphins aren't likely to have to have a Top Ten pick. Not unless we go on a losing streak. So I've got another name for you. Reshad Jones from Georgia. A sure tackler this kid flies all over the field. Only one interception so far this season but he had five last year. He's a junior so he'll have to declare. Check him out.

    2. A playmaker at inside linebacker. Crowder is better than Ayodele but he's a thumper not a playmaker. You need a guy like Crowder but don't expect him to be Ray Lewis or Brian Urlacher. Pair him with Lewis or Urlacher and then you've got something. Again the obvious choice is a Top Ten pick. Rolando McClain from Alabama. Another junior but I'm pretty sure he will declare. So assuming McClain isn't an option the next two names that jump out are Brandon Spikes from Florida and Sean Weatherspoon from Missouri. At least one of them could be there for us when we pick in the 1st round. If none of them are on the board there's another kid from Georgia I like. Rennie Curran. Two words. Tackling machine. The Gators play the Bulldogs this Saturday so its a good time to check out both Spikes and Curran. Plus Reshad Jones.

    3. A nose tackle to eventually take the place of Ferguson. Soliai might be that guy. However since none of us are part of the front office and there are so many great defensive tackles coming out next year its worth investigating. Ndamukong Suh is the obvious choice but he's more than a Top Ten pick. He's likely to be the first player taken in April. Top 3 at bare minimum. So moving on from Suh we have Arthur Jones from Syracuse, Terrence Cody from Alabama, Gerald McCoy from Oklahoma, Marvin Austin from North Carolina, Jared Odrick from Penn State, and Tyson Alualu from Cal. However I have to tell you the guy that really intriques me is Lamarr Houston from Texas. Aside from Suh he is maybe the best athlete over 300 lbs I have seen.
Beyond that I have "wants" but not necessarily "needs."

    1. A big time wideout like Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, or Larry Fitzgerald.
    2. A big time tight end like Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, or Jason Witten.
    3. An outside linebacker to eventually replace Joey Porter, Matt Roth, and Jason Taylor.
    4. A special teams ace. And by ace I mean a guy who can block as well as tackle.
    5. Offensive line depth. We're all set with Long, Smiley, Grove, Thomas, and Carey. However you can never have too many good offensive linemen. I believe you can attribute many the Chief's current woes to their lack of reloading the o-line.

That being said if a more talented player is available you take him even if he's a "want" but not a "need." In other words don't pass on the next Jerry Rice for Brock Marion. Here are some guys I like.

    1. At wideout I like Arrelious Benn from Illinois.
    2. At tight end I like Jermaine Gresham from Oklahoma.
    3. At outside linebacker I like Jerry Hughes from TCU, Bruce Carter from North Carolina, Sergio Kindle from Texas, and A.J. Edds from Iowa.

Finally there are positions where we don't have any "needs" or "wants."

    1. QB - Unbelievable but we finally no longer need a quarterback. We don't even need a 2nd or 3rd string QB either.
    2. RB - Maybe eventually but not in 2010.
    3. FB - Polite is the real deal and has a lot of years left.
    4. DE - We're so deep its ridiculous. Langford, Merling, Starks, McDaniel, and Dotson. Wow. That's a lot of talented big men.
    5. CB - Thanks to last year's draft and the extension of Will Allen we are set for a long time.
    6. Kicker and punter. We don't need a return man either unless they trade Ginn. Although they do need to actually have him return kicks and punts.

Guys I have yet to see: ILB Greg Jones from Michigan State, ILB Obi Ezeh from Michigan, ILB Alex Wujciak from Maryland, DT Arthur Jones from Syracuse, DT Vince Oghobaase from Duke, WR Eric Decker from Minnesota, and WR Jeremy Williams from Tulane. Who else should be on my radar?

Brandon Graham (DE, Michigan) I have not seen a lot of, but he looked pretty darn good last week from what I could tell. I'm not sure (I didn't key on him too much) if he can turn into an 3-4 OLB, but he looked to have very good size (6'2" 260).

I'm not sold on Sean Weatherspoon yet. He doesn't look to be carrying his new weight that well and he doesn't look too fluid. I think he's like at 245 and if he can't carry that well, I am a bit worried.

Tyson Alualu of California looks like a 3-4 end to me. I don't know if he's a nose tackle at the next level. He's got great energy and is quick but he's easily stonewalled IMO. He's got an arm over move and that's it from what I've seen. If he doesn't beat you initially, it doesn't appear that he will beat you later on the play. He does well with trash at his feet though.

I'm still mixed on Michigan's Obi Ezeh. He looks a bit stiff dropping at times but other times, he looks great. The last time I watched him was against Notre Dame and he was atrocious playing the run.

Minnesota's Eric Decker I like a lot. Great route runner, quality footwork on his routes, very strong hands but he's not the fastest. He's also tough as nails and can take hits.

Guy I would add is Purdue's defensive tackle Michael Neal. Very strong player who is quick and has played some end for them. Goes about 6'3", 302 lbs. He can hold up blocks and he does a good job of getting off of them.

Alabama's Mike Johnson is a good player IMO. He does a good job of staying on his blocks and he's shown versatility as an OT.

An ILB to keep an eye on, I'm not sure about him yet because I want to see more but worth watching IMO, is Josh Bynes of Auburn. Laterally he's not the fastest, like Weatherspoon, but he does a good job of getting off of blocks and avoiding trash at his feet from little I've seen.

If we needed an end, I would tell you to watch Alex Carrington of Arkansas State. He's impressive and could end up as a mid rounder but could go as a 5th rounder IMO. He's a 1or 2 gap end.

Minnesota's OT Dominic Alford may be worthy of taking a flyer on in the late rounds. I've seen one game of his, I need to see more, but from what I saw, he's light on his feet and does really well getting to the second level. However, he plays with a wide base, will get tall out of his stance and seems to have issues with hand position. He'll come out of his kick slide with his hands at his hips.

I would add Alabama's Justin Woodall to the mix. As well as Micah Johnson of Kentucky. Johnson lacks instincts IMO but he's a serviceable linebacker. He gets in the backfield well and does a good job of reading the game. He's not a game changer either IMO.

I've got so many games to go through so I'll keep adding later if you wish.

I also like Decker. Really curious as to how his speed will translate to the NFL. As a receiver you don't need blazing speed but you do need to have some. I'm hoping he can run in the 4.5 area.

Here are some of the guys I am looking at.

Quarterbacks - Maybe a late development guy like John Skelton from Fordham or Tim Hiller from CMU

Running Backs - I would like to see a special teams type scatback. Joe Mcknight USC, Brandon James UF, Trindan Holliday LSU, Chris Rainey UF

Wide Receivers - This is where I would like a return guy / mismatch guy like Dexter McCluster MISS, Jacoby Ford Clemson and Also an actual threat that can be a big target and a legit threat. Dez Bryant is obvious but I love Golden Tate from ND and also Mike Williams SU, Demaious Thomas GT, Damien Williams USC, Brandon Lafell LSU,

    Tight End -
We need a threat in the pass game. Gresham is the top pick but I like Anthony McCoy USC, Kyle Rudolph ND, Moeki IOWA, and a sleeper is Jimmy Graham from Miami bball player ala Sheffler and Gates.

    Offensive line -
Depth would be nice. I think Iupita from Idaho is a beast and could come in and be a big upgrade at guard in a few years. Sergio Render is a beast out of Vatech too.

Defensive Line - On Dline like we all know the great Nose search is still on and I would love Mount Cody. People knock his dedication but fact is he lost 60 lbs to be able to play for Satan and went back to school so obviously he isn't all about the money. Boo Robinson from WF is another option I like as well as Al Woods who was a highly touted recruit. Nose isnt about college production to me its about having the tools to be molded into a NFL 3-4 nose

    Linebackers-
This is a area we need to invest in some real talent. Outside and Middle. In the Middle Rolando Mcclain would be option one but pry not where we can get him. Brandon Spikes is another solid option as is Sean Lee from PSU. On the outside we need a guy that can get to the qb. There are going to be several options I like Sergio Kindle and Ricky Sapp. I think Everson Griffen is a freak and is so fast that he would be a friggin beast at OLB in a 3-4

Cornerbacks- We need a nickle corner because with Allens Injury and there is a chance to pick a solid guy in the mid rounds. Verner UCLA, Owuso Ansah IUP, Ghee WF, Thompson Cal, Wilson BSU are some of the ones I like.

Safety- This is a glaring need and we need a cover safety who can make plays sideline to sideline. Target 1 in this draft should be Eric Berry but this is a pipe dream. Others I like are Deuenta Robinson UNC, Rashad Jones UG, Earl Thomas Texas.

Yes I did. I believe he will be a Top Ten pick and we don't have a shot at drafting him.

I haven't seen much of him either. He's definitely one to check out. Anybody got more info on Graham?

    Definitely keep adding.

I have seen Weatherspoon and Alualu play and I agree with everything you wrote. I've got to check out Ezeh and Neal.

I've seen both Josh Bynes and Micah Johnson. Quality players. Not sure either is an upgrade over Crowder, Ayodele, or Torbor. However if there are any concerns about Crowder's ability to stay healthy then I could see us drafting one of them.

I like Justin Woodall too. Is he an impact player?

All right! Another Rashad Jones fan. Nice. I like Deunta Robinson too. That whole North Carolina defense is bad ***. I would be cool with the Dolphins drafting any of them.

Not a fan of us drafting another quarterback or running back. Even in the late rounds. I'd rather take a shot on a wideout or a special teams player.

Love Golden Tate. He's like the anti-Ginn. That guy is not afraid of contact! I wonder if he'll declare.

Could Damian Williams finally break the streak of USC wideouts going bust in the NFL?

Too many off-field issues with Brandon Lafell.

Mount Cody is one of the most intriguing prospects for us in the upcoming draft. I would love to know what Ireland and Parcells think of him.

I like Al Woods too. Definitely a sleeper.

Boo Robinson has potential. A bit inconsistent.

Everson Griffen, huh? I'll key on him next time I watch USC.

Graham is a big dude but I like the kid from FSU better. Caz Piurowski. He's my sleeper at tight end.

What about Ed Dickson from Oregon? That guy is really good. So is Garrett Graham from Wisconsin who is more of an H-back. He will be coming off an injury.

Sounds like Decker may be out for the rest of the year. Damn! I never got the chance to see him play.

I like Woodall and I think he's underrated by some. Love his physicality and even though I think he's a bit inconsistent in coverage times, I think he's a quality player.

Btw, have you seen Jason Pierre-Paul of USF? Freak of an end. 6'5", 265 pounds, smooth changing directions and has an 81" wingspan. I've seen him twice now and that man changes games.

My bad. Got my wires crossed. I must be confusing him with a different player from last year's draft and then I misread this article.

    http://blog.nola.com/lsusports/2009/04/lsu_wide_receiver_brandon_lafe_3.html

Thought they were implying he had off field issues but they were actually saying just the opposite.

    "WR Jeremy Williams from Tulane"
Since I don't think we will take a WR in the first round, here is the guy to watch. Good hands, good size, good speed. Will be there in the second round for us and will be a good pick. Sorry we were not able to pry Austin from Dallas this year, he is showing why we were interested. Boy, would he look good in this group. We do need to get Turner on the field this year and find out what we have.
