There was no ref anywhere near that play. On Sharpers "touchback turned touchdown", the ref is in a perfect position to make the right call but doesn't; calls it a TD :tantrum:

The Saints D did a good job slowing us down, but dropped passes shut down our offense

I'm not mad at 1 bad call but furious about 3 bad calls.

So there you go. Without 3 bad calls and a multitude of dropped passes, this team is good enough to beat "the best team in the NFL.". (Who, by the way, will be 6-1 after next Monday.). That alone should be a confidence booster for our team. Eliminate the minuses and we win. Simple as that.

No shock to me, I didn't need to see a replay to know he fumbled before he was in the endzone. I was posting that since Sunday night. Disturbing really disturbing, what exactly does the media and the NFL have against the Dolphins anyway?

I've never been one to blame the officiating for a loss, as I feel the calls usually even themselves out over the course of a game. But, OMG...there were some questionable calls in that game. The worst being the phantom Sharper TD. It does make you wonder might have happened had we had another officiating crew working that game.

Just a bad job all the way around IMO. :pity:

Maybe my last comments on the subject.
As deplorable as those calls were, I really do not think that it's confined to the Fins. Nor do I think it's a case of any group having any hidden agendas.
Last year SD got screwed in a couple of games. One in particular (I believe against Denver) also had game deciding implications.

You would be referring to the now infamous Ed Hochuli call?

I hate to say it because I love this team but honestly I can't blame this loss on the refs even if say 14 points for the Saints may have come at their hands simply because it shouldn't have came down to a couple missed calls. When you have a 24-3 lead and you lose the game its your fault so the blame and loss lies solely with the Dolphins and although the refs should be called out they weren't the reason for the loss.

I still can't believe we lost that game after being up 24-3...that's haunting. Hopefully the team can get past it this week but losses like that hurt badly.

Yes, it is usually the teams fault...until the refs make game changing calls...such as giving the other team the possession of the ball on 3 separate times which killed our momentum and it also gave them points to come back which caused us to change our game plan....ending in the loss

    Side note;

It is also in my opinion true that if Ginn didn't create the turnover for a touchdown it would have changed the game but it happened and I accepted it. The only problem with this is that we came back from not only Ginn but all of the faults from the game and on the final drive of the game he dropped that crucial pass that would have giving us a first down and would have made the interception-non existent. Even though that happened, we had a final shot for the TD and BAM right through his greasy butter fingers. Yes Ginn messed up but we recovered from each and still almost won the game but in the end you have to blame the loss on; 70% Ginn, 25%Refs, 5% Overall Dolphins---If you disagree I would love an explanation to on why you think my facts are incorrect and not on what happened in the game.

Ok, for starters, I'm a big Saints fan, living in Louisiana all my life. Looking at the still SI image, it sure is easy to see that it was a fumble and should have been a touchback. Even during the game, from the replay film that was available, it was easy to see that it was most probably a fumble/touchback. In the referee's defense, though, you don't know what he saw in the split seconds after. We all saw the ball coming forward, yet in the SI still image, it looks to be going down after Ginn hit it. Did Sharper's leg hit the ball and propel it forward? Did Sharper grab the ball again and push it forward, only to lose it as he was doing so? Without a complete video we'll never know. Of course, I'm still of the opinion that the ref missed the call and it was a fumble for a touchback, but just realize that in the split seconds of activity, it is not as clear for the referee as it might seem when looking at a still SI image like this one.

On another note, I think you guys have a team that is much, much better than your record. I would personally rank you in the top 10 this year. In all, you probably should have won that game, and it was very similar to games I've seen the Saints play in the past. Jump out to a big lead, only to make your own mistakes and let the other team back in it to win. Rather than listen to the media talk about the incredible Saints (who are very good this year, no doubt), it was more of a few mistakes and dropped passes that kept the Saints in it and allowed them to win, rather than poor officiating.

Finally, you can't ever go back and say "that would have taken off the touchdown and the Dolphins would have won because Henne wouldn't have thrown that interception late in the game if we had the lead." There are just too many intangibles that could/should/would have happened in between there. There's no way to figure out how that would have affected the game, so you just have to take it from there and move on (like the messed up replay equipment).

Good luck with the rest of your season, and hopefully we both get to play at Land Shark stadium early next year .... would be a great rematch.

That's exactly why is should have been overturned!! It was clear as day and the pic shows the ref looking right at it as well.

Holding calls are missed all the time and it was not reviewed!! Two totally different things.

With a one point lead instead of a 6 point deficit, we'd be trying to run the ball out not run the 2 minute drill with 2 minutes to go. Henne threw the pick on 4th and 13. I seriously doubt he would have thrown a pick like that.

You're right, there are too many intangibles. It's just unfortunate we'll never know who really should have won that game. And it's unfortunate that that loss still counts for Miami. The NFL potentially stole one from them.
