Well since I set the one for my favorite baseball team at the other place, I need to set it up here also:ffic:
Anyway there is concerning about injuries to the starting staff. Lackey has come up with a tricep problem and looks to be out at least the 1st six weeks. Escobar has some residue shoulder issues that will keep him out the 1st month. It now looks fortunate that the Orlando Cabrerra for John Garland trade took place.

Seattle is definitely looking better now that the Angels pitching staff is opening the season on the DL.

yes, there are, i dont remember names right now..its not insane to think it, bedard is as good as it comes, felix is a great 2, silva is a servicable 3, and batista may be the best 5 in the league. and the offense should be pretty good, like it has been. i expect richie to do atleast a little better than .205

i mean, its not that crazy of an idea to think m's could win it..especially with angels having injury issues

What about Erik Bedard? Hasn't he allowed something like seven home runs? Do you think he will be a bust for them?

I think it's spring training, he'll be fine once the season starts. The M's still have issues, he makes them better though. Hopefully they dont get off to a fast start and Angels can keep their heads above water until everyone gets healthy. Shields has been shut down for a few days because of stiffness in his arm now also. Doesnt sound like it's anything serious but the last thing that guy needs is more to worry about.

Angels really gotta get everyone healthy on the pitching staff. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a move for a starting pitcher with one of their excess OF's.

The season hasnt even started yet and it's already a nightmare.

Brewers cut Claudio Vargas today, he's a serviceable 5th starter. Angels should get on the phone and try to bring him in.

Guy for SI on the AL West

I think he underestimates how much we'll miss Lackey and Escobar, but lets hope he's right and I'm just worrying too much. He picks the Tigers over the Cubs in the World Series.

Well Harden looking like his old self has to give A's fans a little smile. It's one of those things you kind of want to enjoy while it lasts unfortunately. I took a flier on him late in my fantasy draft so hopefully he can stay healthy ;)

A's in first place, Angels cant go wire to wire lol.

The Angels might look to sign or trade for a starter or reliever from outside the organization. Among the starters available are right-hander Claudio Vargas, released by Milwaukee, and left-hander Jorge De La Rosa, who was designated for assignment by Kansas City. Possible trade targets include the Chicago Cubs' Jon Lieber, Jason Marquis and Sean Marshall, Cleveland's Aaron Laffey and Jeremy Sowers, Oakland's Joe Blanton, Texas' Kameron Loe and Cincinnati's Matt Belisle. -- LA Times

Lieber and Blanton would be good pickups though I highly doubt Oakland will want to trade a decent starter like Blanton to a division rival like the Angels.

Even though the situations on both Escobar and Shields are scary, I don't see any outside move for at leat three weeks.

lets see jayson stark, buster olney, your favorite steve phillips, eric karabell, amy nelson(who?), peter pascarelli, john shea, and nate ravitz all think the mariners will win the AL West.....

and yet its still absurd to think they could win it

Maicer Izturis will start at shortstop and bat ninth in the Angels' opener Monday.
A mild surprise, given Erick Aybar's strong spring offensively. Izturis is the better hitter of the two, but the Angels seemed to be rooting for Aybar to win the job from the start. Both players will get plenty of at-bats. Angels manager Mike Scioscia also announced that Mike Napoli will be the starting catcher over Jeff Mathis to begin the year. Mar. 30 - 10:21 pm et

Garland was money tonight. Cant really complain about the trade, especially with the injuries to the staff this spring. OC was great, but Garlands arm is more important than OC's bat atm. Will be nice when Hunter calms down a bit and starts hitting the ball.

Mariners placed RHP J.J. Putz on the 15-day disabled list with mild costochondritis on his right side.
Costochondritis is inflammation where cartilage attaches to a rib. :)

The Mariners said Putz felt discomfort on a pitch to Michael Young in the ninth inning last night and had a precautionary MRI today. They don't have any idea how long he'll be out, but it's an awfully unusual injury that could take more than the minimum 15 days. Mark Lowe is the obvious choice to close in his place, though since the Mariners will want to be careful with him, they might give the odd save chance to Sean Green or Eric O'Flaherty. Brandon Morrow wasn't the choice to replace Putz on the roster and simply isn't an option in the closer's role right now. Lowe should be picked up in all formats. Apr. 2 - 6:15 pm et

Saunders with 8 strong. He easily could have gotten the CG but I think they wanted to get Frankie some work. Nice to see Hunter get some hits also.

:woot: Hunter with his first HR of the season.

Santana's first start on the season, on the road, and he's looked pretty good. Huge start for him mentally, hopefully this gives him a little confidence. Angels really need him to pitch like he did a couple years ago.

Francico Rodriguez admitted he has been pitching with an ankle injury since late last season and has modified his delivery slightly to accomodate it.
That explains a lot. Rodriguez said the ankle he injured when he slipped on the mound last year continued to bother him during winter ball and spring training so he and Angels pitching coach Mike Butcher worked on taking a little of the violence out of his delivery. His velocity hasn't been quite the same since the change, though he's still throwing hard enough to get outs. If the changes lead to better command, they could prove beneficial in the future. Apr. 3 - 1:16 pm et

hmm...hopefully this doesnt affect him too much

Home opener tomorrow against Texas. Hopefully Vlad breaks out of this little funk he's in against the team he loves to destroy. I got my tickets for Saturday, Weaver vs Millwood, should be a good game.
