That wasn't really fair of me. The whole CBA collapsed. But it looks like the East Kentucky Miners, the team Fiedler co-owned, will live on with new ownership in another league:

    http://breathittonline.com/blog/2009/07/21/east-kentucky-miners-returning-for-season-3/

    For a few months, anyway.

I liked Fiedler, by the way. I fought for him on Phin message boards years after it should have been clear to me that he was a liability to the team. Not saying Ginn is the same as Fiedler...just saying players come and go, and you should never get emotionally wedded to one.

no one wants Ginn to fail. they just realize that he WILL fail and don't want to see him on the field for us failing.

I understand where your coming from with some posters.
But I was the one who created this thread. This is also the first bashing thread I have created "EVER". IMO it is justified and I will stick to my opinions.
I am not a individual player basher, but I can tell you that I am a Dolphin team fan first. If a player is not doing their job I will express my disappointment.

Just hope that remark was not geared towards me.

Hahahah nice collage. I dont want him to fail. Well, I didnt, but its a failure at this point. Cam Cameron played an evil joke on us and it is lingering on and on. Ginn makes a big catch against the Jets, gives us a glimmer of hope, and then goes back to normal.

FYI, Shea Stancil is the younger cousin of country singer Mindy McCreedy (yup, the one who banged Roger Clemens)

I guess Brock Marion alone will have to suffice.

Jay Fiedler was a ****ing savage. 36-23 is a very good record and if you take away 2004 it's REALLY impressive. I know our defense was really good, but we went 11-5 in 2001 with no running game if you guys remember.

    The man had heart.

I dont know, give him to Cleveland. If he was traded where would you like to see him go?

I am not saying we'll get 1st day compensation by any means, but after that play early in the 3rd quarter yesterday (int for td), I saw enough. I want him off the team or at least on the bench. I don't even care if we get a 7th for him. It would be nice to get something when he's shipped to another team, that's all. I just need to get that bad taste of Cam Cameron out of my mouth for good.

How will we trade him, the deadline is passed.

And if people thing we want him off the team so badly, why would they bother trading for him. Just wait for him to be cut.

1st day compensation is strictly a 1st rd pick now for the record.

How many years is his contract for? was it a 4 or 5 year? Seeing he is already in year 3, the cap hit shouldnt be too bad, if we front loaded the contract (which teams really do not do anymore).

Real harsh and short sighted. Imagine if we had dumped off Jason Allen for next to nothing? He hasn't dazzled us in the secondary, but he's been a good ST player. Ginn could easily have a role here, a long term one at that, just not as the #1 receiver.

Opfin, It's probably because it's Monday. If I had typed this on a Wed or Thurs, I still wouldn't have the stinging loss hanging over my head. Maybe I would have written something that wouldn't be so harsh.

Bottom line. Ted Ginn is not a #1 WR. The int return for a TD in the 3rd qtr made me furious, and that dropped pass in the 4th was the deal breaker. He isn't reliable enough to be our "goto guy".

I don't want to fall into the camp that wants him to fail. I would love nothing more for the guy to succeed, please believe that. From what I've seen so far this season, he just isn't what we need.

    Stitches,

That is my fault. I forgot the trade deadline passed. In fact, I know so little about it, is it even possible for him to be traded after the season is up?

It's probably useless arguing this point since I know I am going to lose anyway.

He did have heart, and a sub-NFL arm too. It wasn't his fault he had a bad arm, of course, but he seemed dead-set against the Fins ever getting anyone who could take his job away or even challenge him. And Wannstedt seemed to go along with that...hence the half-joking speculation on so many message boards that Fiedler had compromising photos of Wannstedt.

Pennington and Fiedler both had heart, both were smart, both seemed to have the respect of their teammates. But there are two big differences: one, Pennington always took care of the ball like it was a Faberge egg, and two, Pennington was always about making other people better, including Henne.

He can be traded after the season.. I dont know if this is right after the superbowl or not, but I think so. He cannto be traded at any point during this season.

I have nightmares of our QBs after marino and before pennington. I dont want to have nightmares of WR now. Let's please hope they fix that **** and get us a #1 WR. Hartline is the new #1 in my eyes, for now.

IMO catching 1 TD pass every 6 games doesnt make up for dropping 3 balls a game. I dont care if he scores 0 TD's the rest of the season, as long as he is helping us get down the field, not stopping us from getting down the field. Give the TD's to people who work for them, like Ricky and Ronnie

That Monday night game of Ginn's had no affect on my opinion of him at all.......that catch he made was the one trick, that one trick pony is good for in the passing game.

Nothing has changed, he's a limited, unreliable receiver that merits being demoted and losing snaps. I wouldn't cut him, yet....but he deff needs to start coming off the bench in nothing more than a situational role. His starting days should be over on this team.

The game against the Jets was just a mirage that got some you guy's hopes up, again.

Thephins.com is a great place to talk about our favorite team and that means many things are blogged about. What I don't get is the names and labeling of people placed on the fans who have been criticizing Ginn ever since Cameron drafted him. I am a proud member of that field so is my fanhood any less because I question Ginn and his ability, the answer is no. I have been a dolfan for 39 years and I have seen many people come and go but in that time only three people drew my attention and made me compelled to see Miami part ways with them and they are Dave Wanstadt, Jay Fiedler and now Ted Ginn Jr. Ted has never escaped my radar some question where were we when Miami beat the Jets, yes it was nice to see Ginn catch that Td pass, but honestly how many catches did he have in that game, did he play like a number one receiver ? I believe Hartline would make a much better number one receiver, yes I know he is nowhere as fast as Ginn but he does know how to run routes get open and heres the best part, he catches them too. It's time to end the Cameron Nightmare and cut lose Ginn and move on.

All this talk aboub Ginn not catching balls isn't based on his time here in Miami. It's based on this one year. The last two seasons he was extremely reliable, IMO. I don't know what's happened, but I think it's a little ignorant to say that he can't catch. For some reason or another, he is struggling this year. I'm all for cutting his snaps down until he corrects it. Maybe he needs to be in the slot or something. Maybe he's putting too much pressure on himself to make big plays, and is losing his concentration for catching the ball. Something's up, and it's up to the coaches to correct it.

I'm all for chances, but Ginn has had his and then some. Hopefully we can find something to do with him. The guy is a good guy, and it sucks to kick good people to the curb. But he's not our answer at WR, I think that is fairly clear with this year almost hitting the halfway mark.

I'm willing to suspend my doubt until the end of the year though. Maybe something clicks, maybe it doesn't. But giving Hartline a few rotations in as the #1 might at least motivate him a little if nothing else.

Uggg, I'm just downright disappointed is all, not even so much mad as most of the people here come off. I really was rooting for the guy. I'm sure he's pretty beaten up too :pity:

I've taken a neutral stance for 3 years sitting patiently on the fence taking a wait and see approach in regards to any judgment of TGJr. Yesterday I had seen enough. The dropped pass in the 4th Q not only made it 3rd and long but it looked like it demoralized the entire team. the team just seemed to give up after that. He needs to be demoted. his failures are starting to fester into something something more damaging to this team.

Stir the pot coaching staff, TGJr needs to be put on notice!

I want nothing more than him to succeed because i'm convinced if he succeeds the dolphins succeed. And that to me is the main objective for all fin fans.

They just did the "C'Mon Man" segment on Monday Night Countdown a few minutes ago. Ginn was selected by Keyshawn (I know, I know...I don't care for him or his analysis either).

Anyway, they played a couple of clips from yesterday's game. They showed the lobster claw effort that tipped the ball to Sharper. Then the drop when he took his eyes off the ball because a defender was closing in. He then made reference to Miami "trying to make a play maker out of him" or something like that. Then of course, ended up with the proverbial "C'mon man!"

    Embarrassing. :blushing:
