I just read about this and I think it's a good move but I wonder if Sony keeps the Video portion of the Playstation Store or if it will become a waste of money. Nice move for Sony and PSN is slowly getting the features of Live but without the cost. Makes you wonder if people will still pay $50 for Live when PSN is free especially with PSN cross game chat supposedly very close...in a tight worldwide economy that could get interesting. Also this is not meant to start a system argument but its a serious question...I personally think PSN and Live are both great although I do prefer one over the other. So yes all honest questions here.
It says that 49 states (not North Carolina) will have access to every PS3 game ever. For free! And every game delivered will come with a hottie that can cook and do laundry!
Sorry, dude. Just saw this thread or I would have clued you in. What is this disc you speak of? As a longtime Netflix subscriber and a PS3 owner, I am beyond jazzed about this. And now, as it is my 40th birthday and quitting time, I am going to go get beyond drunk.
I use this on the Xbox 360, it's a great feature. When I saw this I almost wondered why I needed a 360 anymore but then I remembered Mass Effect 2 is coming out soon.
The biggest downfall to this netflix thing (I assume it'll be an issue with PS3 as well) is they only let you stream to one device at a time... Meaning: If I stream to the Xbox in my room, I CANNOT just throw the HDD on the 360 in my living room and start watching vids. I have to go to netflix.com and resync the 2nd device (thus kicking off the first 360) and start watching. So Bumrush, you'll need a new PS3 AND a new Netflix acct. I should also note that I have the $8.99 Netflix plan... Maybe bigger plans have more devices they're allowed to stream to.
Question, does anyone know if the PS BluRay remote works with viewing Netflix movies? I just got a PS3 and have Netflix for it, just wondering if I should throw down the 20 bucks or so to get the remote or if it's even worth it.
When I got netflix for the 360 at the time of release, the movies available were total ****. Has that changed? Are you still limited to dvd releases from 6 months ago or more?
No, they actually have some newer releases available now. That Paul Blart movie was released on DVD in mid Oct and now you can watch it. A lot of the past seasons of TV shows you can watch now (i.e. you can watch Lost Season 5 right now eventhough it hasn't been released on DVD yet). The movie/tv show library is slowly getting bigger, there have been tons of improvements in the last few months. I'd bet by this time next year you'd be able to watch any movie available right away, if it's possible/legal.
Yeah it has changed since it first started! I love Netflix! I was able to watch season 1 and 2 of lost, and i am on ep 17 of season 3 right now! all thanks to netflix!
i just signed up for netflix on my PS3. I was all excited to watch season 1 of Madmen, but it doesn't allow instant streaming. Whats up with that, same with Breaking Bad? Why can you stream some shows/movies, but need the disc for others?
Its all the choice of the distibution/production companies I would assume. Im sure it isnt up to netflix.
