We're screwed, IMO. Our pass defense really takes a toll. When he went out in the 3rd quarter.. I noticed a MAJOR DROP in pass coverage.
Well so much for playoffs. Will Allen is our best player in the secondary. This just means more time for Vontae Davis and Jason Allen
Pretty much, IMO. I really don't see us faring well the rest of the season because of our pass defense now... Especially with two mediocre coverage safeties.
Sucks for Will Allen and the team. However Davis and Smith will now get more opportunities and experience. At the end of the day, that will be important for next season.
Will Allen gets toasted as many times as he makes plays....this loss does hurt but more from the stand point of loss of depth at the position. I hate to see him get hurt or not be available, but I don't see the rooks playing too much worse.
Vontae gets a real chance though, so I'm TRYING to remain calm and hope he steps up. We have the Jets and Patriots coming up. I have to remain calm.
I felt like I was the only one talking about Allen leaving the game in the 3rd quarter... I was hoping it wouldn't turn out like this... but with our luck? Not surprised at all.
Cold...but true...to be honest we have depth that is probably as good, if not better than the "starters".
You and me both! I didn't even realize he got hurt. There was no mention of it in the broadcast was there? Not sure how I missed that... Smith and Davis are really going to have to step up now. Are there any corners left as FA's right now that might help us?
I dont see what the big deal is, Allen wasnt exactly lighting it up.. I mean it sucks, yeah, but, whatever
I think as a rookie he's made enough plays to show that he's obviously got promise and upside.....I'm sure he'll make some mistakes but getting more reps out there could be just what is needed to up his game.
Yes this does suck, but really it will benefit us in the long run. Vontae has made plays and I'm sure more experience will only make him better. The season is not in the coffin, but the coffin is shutting on us quickly. Today would have been such a huge win for us and what hurts the most about this loss was we lost it. We are 2-4, but we should be 4-2, beating the Colts and Saints. Those 2 are on top in this league. I dont think we are out of it yet because today showed us we can compete with the best of the best.
by mistakes you mean by missing textbook tackles and blown coverage? Sure he plays aggressive and is bound to make a play but if he makes 1 good play he makes 2-3 bad plays.
this is similar to the Pennington injury. Sucks in the short term but is great in the big picture. Vontae and Smith can now both get full game reps instead of splitting time. Allen wasnt going to be starting next year anyway so might as well start the future now. Hopefully Chris Clemons is getting ready because I suspect he's going to be playing by week 10
This will help us long term but short term we are going to take our lumps. Should be interesting to see them v.s. Brady
WTF?! I didn't even know he was injured. This is a HUGE loss for our team. Time for the rookies to step up.
it just puts more pressure on the front 7 to get pressure ... which they got none of in the 2nd half ... i seriously doubt that we'll sign anything more than a back-up ... maybe even someone off another teams PS to fill the spot. from the 2d QTR on, we started getting chewed up over the middle ... something we've been terrible at all season long -- and we just don't have an answer for it. It can't be fixed with our current LBs, so it falls to the Ss ... and they take the wrap for it -- but it just isn't all on them .....
I think Davis and Smith can hold their own out there. Honestly, at 2-4 this season is mostly dead anyways. Yes, there's a glimmer of hope, but it involves winning 10 out of the next 11 games more than likely, and holding the division over the Pats and Jets (which we do currently have). With the Pats playing a schedule based on their 2nd place finish last year, and the Jets playing based off a third place finish, the odds are kind of stacked against us. Is it possible? Totally. Is it probable? Not really. This year is going to be a year we get to see what a lot of our future players are made of (Davis, Smith, Henne, Hartline, etc). We need an overall more talented defense to be able to say that we justifiably should have been SB contenders this year.
Wow. Didn't know he was injured either. Never say him get injured and never heard the announcers mention anything. This sucks.
Add me to the list that didn't know he was hurt/missing during the end of the game yesterday. And, as much as his abilities and experience will sorely be missed, I too see it as an opportunity to see what the rooks can do. Hey, this is one of the reasons why the FO invested two of the top three picks in corners. So, let's go boys...time to man up. Go Phins!
Losing Will does indeed suck....but now we get to see what we truly have in Davis. I think he is going to fill in well. We'll see.
Will Allen is done hxxp://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=4596179&campaign=rss&source=ESPNHeadlines Well that sucks.
Will Allen is out for the season i read this on the bottom of the screen on espn. give me a minute and i'll confirm it with a link. i'm surprised i haven't seen a thread about this. if its true, the sean smith and vontae davis era has begun. i was shocked to hear about this because i didn't see will allen get hurt during the game. did anyone else see him get hurt during the game??
