His name isn't Gilbert, it's Gibril....but I think we should just call him the Gerbil.

wilson had a good half and some good plays in the 2nd but we were getting lit up.........it's are fault though, the defense shouldn't have been going back on the field so much.....we weren't eating clock and kept going to the pass even when we had a good lead...

Wilson had a very strong game. Those of you criticising have NO idea about safety play whatsoever. Firstly, they're learning a new coverage system which takes time. Secondly, Wilson played much of the first half as the shadow on Reggie Bush and the second half in man coverage on the fastest Saint, Devery Henderson. He was draped all over him, had two pass break ups, a tip that led to a pick, a couple of pressures, he makes a tremendous play on Shockey - yes you read that right - after Davis misses the tackle and he knows he has no support behind and if he misses the tackle on a taller, bigger man, then it's a walk in TD. Shockey is hand fighting and not allowing Wilson to dive in anyway, so Gibril works him to the sideline, all the time slowing him up so that backside pursuit can make the stop.

He then comes up to fill the hole and unloads on Mike Bell on 2nd and goal, stops him dead at the 1 after Bell has just decleated Crowder again to get to the goaline, forcing the 3rd down incompletion to Colston and forcing the Saints to kick the FG.

Wilson's an easy target for people who just don't know what they're talking about.

    Shoddy.

You know you are right I should have safety.Man is he just horrible in coverage. Please play clemons, give him some experince because this season is over anyway..We have proven we can not beat the better teams in league.I think best case scenario we are 8-8.

We have two safeties that are mediocre in pass coverage. That would have been the correct title. Gibril made some pretty nice plays today... even tipped the ball from the line that Torbor picked off.

Of course, with Shcokey stiff arming him away from tackling him for 50 yards, one is exactly right...heck maybe the Gerbil could miss some more tackles that way he would ensure no one knows what the heck they are talking about...

Boomer, offbase on this one, Gerbil is and was not the cause of this loss, however he is a poor poor tackler...the Saints are good enough team to find that weakness...

    We're talking about today yeah?

Analyse today's game and how Wilson played in coverage and then get back to me. Until that point, you have little, if nothing to say about the way Gibril Wilson played this evening.

And he's not a poor tackler.

And his name's Gibril. What are you lot? 9 years old?

IMO the problem with the secondary is two fold. 1st we have two rookie CB that are learning the ropes and Will Allen is just not very good. Then the two safetys we have starting are both SS's we need a FS back there.

    More blinding analysis there coach.

Talk me through the secondary system that Miami employs and the responsibilities of the safeties play by play, given down and distance and formation.

If in doubt, refer to a "whatever dude". Brilliant.

Again, I'm talking about TODAY'S game. Did you watch it? With your eyes?

Thing is, I doubt people like you actually understand the machinations of the game, especially on defense. That's not a criticism. Just fact.

He missed a key tackle in the 4th qtr, thusly he is the "Gerbil" when it comes down to importance, he fails, and has failed for most of the season.

DC Pasqauloni may have changed up, a tackle is a tackle though.

This was probably the best game that Wilson and Bell had together and there's a thread like this? How anyone can rip the safeties tonight is totally beyond me.

How many snaps on defense and he's being held to account over one tackle? Amazingly, no-one seems to mention that about 2 mins later on the same drive, he stuffs Bell at the goaline to force the field goal.

    Convenient eh.

Calling him 'Gerbil' is about as pathetic as much of the detritus in this thread.

    No sir. I disagree.

I may not know as much about football as some of you, but I do know this...if you want to bring a man down, any man, you wrap his legs up. Period. This patty-cake hand fighting/swiping at the football/shoulder pad grabbing crap is total BS. He gave him 25+ yards doing that s**t.

No sir. I disagree. Last man/last line of defense or not, he just needed to make a tackle.

    JMHO...

If you can't see that we're heading in the right direction and probably 3 or 4 pieces away from going deep into the playoffs, then you're even crazier than the majority of your first 53 posts on this forum have led me to believe. Lest you forget, we're the defending AFC East champions. This was always a 3 year plan for Sparano, Parcells and Ireland. The QB, backs, OL, numbers 3, 4 and 5 WR's, the DL, corners and specialists are in place. A Morgan Burnett/Eric Berry type in the secondary, an impact WR and a tight end and this team is pushing deep into January.

And if he can't make the tackle because of the way Shockey's fighting him and keeping him close?

    What do you suggest?

A secondary coach will say every time to hold him up and force him to the perimeter.

Boomer, watch that play again. The last thing he did was the first thing he should've done (when he finally went down and cut his legs out). After he gave up a serious chunk of field position.

Dude ... show that play to any professional football coach and he's going to tell you that Wilson did everything absolutely perfect. It might look bad but that was one heck of a play by Wilson.
