If for whatever crazy reason we weren't able to resign Ronnie when his deal is up, I would bet anything that the Pats would be the first team to call him. Belichick has heaped high praise on him since his rookie year, I'm sure he would sell his family into Nike sweatshop slavery to get a chance to add Ronnie to his roster.
I'm confident we'll get a deal done. We're taking the same approach with Brown as we did with Bell and Carey last year. He'll be back. This regime isn't stupid.
Funny you should say that gish, because I remember hearing someone a year or two ago (can't remember who) compare Ronnie to LT. Basically, whoever it was, was saying he had a similar skill set, and one day he'd develop into the same type of RB. Now that I think about it, it may have been Billicheat. Only it wasn't him directly. It was someone paraphrasing him in regards to his opinion of Brown. Have I totally lost y'all? LOL...

It's not about intelligence, it's about value... I love Ronnie Brown. However there is an argument to be made about giving contracts to RB who're nearing 30. That said, I think Ronnie is too valuable to let go and hope he's back whether it by a contract or franchise tag. If we don't have a capped year next, I hope we shove a load of money in that first year to cheapen the next few and make a contract that is manageable for the future as he begins to decline in a 3-4 years down the road.
I agree 100% and it would kill me to see it happen. Not only would Belichick do it to win games, he would use Ronnie properly to boost the "Belichick is a genius" image. "hey look, he used his magic to make yet another player better". :gag: Hopefully this FO sees the wisdom of keeping Ronnie around.
I remember back on the old site a post named "LT21" who had a pretty high regard over there coming on the site after one of the games and said something very simular.

In Ronnie's defense, he was never burnt out like LT, Shaun Alexander, or Larry Johnson. I feel Ronnie splitting carries throughout his whole career, will be huge in keeping him fresh past 30.

if Ronnie was on the patriots, he easily makes them one of the best teams in the league...with that said, thats reason enough miami needs to sign a multi year deal with Ronnie... I would love to lock him up for his career personally
its coming a little later then i thought, and wanted.. before the season started, I wrote that ronne will project to be top 5 in mvp voting...1500 yards rushing, 2000 total... and that AD is the only player i would even think about...i projected that stuff based on excellent variables surrounding the player..{the right kind of oline, a unique formation, formation specific skills, 2 years removed from knee surgery, and most importantly, because his overall talent on a football field is 2nd to none imo. Just like the writer said, hes the most dynamic player in the league...some of us said and wrote it 6 months ago 5 years/50 mill..now, maybe less, i guess, who knows now, probably could of got him preseason at 5/35.
My biggest knock on AP is that he does not have great hands... He is a fumbling machine and that can come back and bite him, brown on the other hand has great hands...

Exactly!! And with this system, that is not likely to change. At least through next year, we'll still have Ricky for him to share carries with, and after that, Lexy? Point being, he'll never be overused. He'll be used, just not - say - like Ricky was to the breaking point back in '02 and '03.

Ronnie Brown is too integral to our offense to not be resigned. Even if he gets money greedy and looks to be payed as the highest RB in the league, he DESERVES that. One of the things this coaching staff will remember, and consider, is that he is an all around player. He may not be the best RB in the league to warrant that money, but he contributes in the passing game, the wildcat, the run, is a great blocker, and from everything you hear from him never settles for anything less than perfection. I doubt money is going to be the restricting factor in a deal with him. There may be negotiation, but I honestly don't think there can be a monetary ceiling (outside of absolutely ridiculous amounts that far exceed the top salaries out there) that can quantify what this guy can do. I'm worried that it's not done yet, but confident it will get done well before it becomes a serious cause for concern. Honestly I'd love to see him get re-upped this week and send him out against the Saints, Jets, and Pats with a new lease on life, so to speak.
i think Ronnie can get MVP consideration without the big numbers. because chances are, he won't have them. he'll have a lot of games with 60-70 rushing yards, but HUGE plays and big touchdowns. as long as Ricky keeps running well, there's no reason why he shouldn't get plenty of yards, too. plus, with the emergence of Henne, we could be seeing a lot more big yardage plays through the air, something i don't think any of us would complain about.
Oh, that's right, how could I forget about Edwards! Ironic too, considering Monday night. I remember how upset he was that we didn't draft him too, and he said how Saban lied to him supposedly. I still think Ronnie was the right pick, although Edwards would have been nice for sure ..... could have thrown off our whole timeline, though. Maybe Cam DOES pick Quinn instead of Ginn because we would have had Edwards ...... and maybe Tuna never comes ..... AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Ugh I don't want to think of Ronnie in any other uniform other than ours...especially a division rival. I don't even want to think about this. Sign him to a new deal today!
Another thing about Ronnie that hasn't been mentioned much is his incredible attitude, and even more-so his character. I mean, this is the guy I would indeed invite to my house for dinner. I wouldn't be worried what-so-ever. This personna is amplified onto the field. He is having fun. I re-watched the first half of the Jests game yesterday morning, and two things stood out: 1) The Jests defense is really really dirty. They were getting in cheap shots early and often. They wete talking smack after every single play, really getting in our guys faces. 2) I watched Ronnie on two such occasions, smile, turn his head away from the player, toss the ball to the ref and go directly back to the huddle. He let's his play talk for itself, the way a true MVP should
So, the question is...does Ronnie want to be a Dolphin long term? In other words, is he like Zach and has no desire to play elsewhere (and definitely not with the Patsies), as long as he's given a fair deal? If so, then I think a deal gets done...eventually. But, the longer this FO waits, the higher the price tag IMHO. Git 'er done!!!
