    Bit of an update:

Yep, Roth is a bucket head, but that does mean he could practice before the Saints game.

what can we use him for? Porter, Tayler, wake, Anderson. I think our outside is doing just fine

our outside is not doing fine ... they are getting little pressure and are not good against the run ... of course, Roth's forte is not pass rushing -- but then again, we haven't seen the 'new and improved' Roth in action yet ...

I agree with pass rush. But completely disagree with run defense.
OLB are doing very well against the run. No need to take my word for it.

Keep in mind though, that was through last week with the Bills game, this week the Jets took aim at whichever side JT was playing on to run the ball.

    Ditto JP.

if you're going to use that chart and statistics, then you would argue that Wake should be the starting SOLB ...

i still maintain that JP and JT are not strong against the run ... and as the season wears on, it will bear itself out -- in the statistics.

they should have a similar chart from last year ... and i would bet that Roth was significantly better than either JP or JT are this year, now, while they are still 'fresh' ....

Click on the upper right hand corner and you can look back at last season, Roth was really good against the run as in top 3, which is why I don't think he will be traded away from nothing.

I sort of expect him to start once he is up to speed practice wise.

    As for Wake?

Are you kidding? The punter juked him for Pete's sake...

I would feel better with Roth and JT in there and bringing in Porter/Wake for passing downs.

Wake is what he is this season, a passrushing nickel end that Sparano probably won't play very much, to me he has a really high trade value to a 4-3 team that needs a passrushing DE.

We know he can get after the passer from a 4 point stance, heck the whole NFL knows it, that creates value.

Would it make more sense to put Wake on the Weakside or trade him and draft a OLB who fits the system and is ready to go from day 1?

Padre, you know my thoughts on our OLBs ... but if we could trade Wake at the end of the season for an OLB that could start on day 1 ... heck, yeah -- every day of the week, my friend !

but for this year, it brings me back again to Roth/Wake and JT/JP for SOLB, WOLB swapping of run/pass ...

Eagles are looking for passrushing help, they are close to being a Super Bowl team as well, they run the 4-3, Reid is not afraid to make deals either..

    Just sayin'..

I'd start Roth, slide JT to the weak side until JP's hammy is healed and let Wake come in as a nickel DE...but that is just me, and there is no way to know how long it would take Matty R to be in game shape.

Roth is a guy I would love to trade, The Chiefs need a run stopping OLB and we need a WR. Bowe is an excellent player I hope Parcells and Pioli are up to something.
