http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/122690 This is good news it says Ronnie wants to stick around. Its says there is no ongoing talks, but if Ronnie keeps running like he has he will get paid. Worse comes to worse he gets franchised or remains for another year if there is no agreement with the NFLPA. Ronnie keeps running like he is running he will get his contract from Miami, period.
Yeah, nice to see he doesn't want to test the market too. He loves playing here, and we love having him. The FO needs to get this done, asap.
I hope its a long term contract, not those 3 year extensions they gave some of our players this past offseason. Ronnie is the man, hopefully they get it done.
Ronnie is not a FA next year so no need for a franchise tag. They won't have a new collective agreement by then. So Ronnie won't opt out of his contract (if he even can....not sure if their is language in his contract that accounts for no cba). He will make more by not opting out of his contract which is much more then a first round restricted tender as he would not be a FA with no cba but a restricted FA. Hence no opt out.
Honestly people on this site will freak out but I would say sign and trade him.. We have some depth at running back, ricky can play again next year, Cobbs is a stud on the burner and we got more talent behind him.. Ricky is a good player, but honestly were going to get a few more years of the same with him. We got alot of holes to fill and that money and the trades can help this team much more than a split back player... Im going to go hide from all the haters who will bash me saying no way hes the bestest everiest...
I don't think you're getting enough compensation if you trade him. That's my main issue with trading him. I've criticized Ronnie Brown as much as the next guy, people will tell you ehre that, but he's an integral part of our offense and at this point, getting a third rounder for him just doesn't do it for me.
And take a very large cap hit in the process. Ricky is calling it quits after next year, I'm pretty sure that we have a thread here with that article. Cobbs is a good backup, but is he really good enough to be a starter? Is he as good as the starting RB's in our own division? I don't think he is. Noone said that he was, but he's better than any RB that we've had in a long time and players like him don't come around often. Ronnie is our offense, love him or hate him, noone can deny that he has been the only player that we've had that other teams fear. Why take a chance in being left without a very good and productive player?
Yeah, you probably should hide. Why is it that every year Ronnie has been here, there has been the minority of posters saying we should get rid of him? Ronnie is #3 in the league for yards coming into today. Ricky is what he is, but he's not gonna carry the load. I don't see Cobbs being a feature back. Ronnie is the best player on our offense, and you want to dump him? Great plan. Posted via Mobile Device
You trade Ronnie and all of a sudden we have yet another hole. I dont have confidence in Cobbs and Ricky to carry the load.
Yeah, no doubt. My buddy is a HUGE Pats fan, and he is just hoping that the Phins don't resign Ronnie...it's his little wet dream. Posted via Mobile Device
They have great depth at Rb because of Ronnie Brown and Ricky but Ricky said he wants to play one more year. Trading Ronnie instantly makes running back a huge need....
Sign him for a 4 year extension, IMO. I want him here long term, but I don't want to commit too long for a running back when they usually burn out when they reach the 29-30 year mark...
Nah, nobody should be made to feel like they have to hide because they have an unpopular opinion. With that said, if you knowingly post an unpopular opinion, expect there to be some negative feedback and take it in the spirit of discussion rather than an attack.
I only said it because he suggested it. LOL. I only meant that he's prolly gonna get alot of negative responses to that idea. People should feel free to post whatever they want, no matter how little sense it makes. It keeps stuff interesting (if not a little frustrating) around here. Posted via Mobile Device
gotta resign ronnie. not only is he our MVP but so long as we run the wildcat we need him. He runs it better than anyone else we have
I think signing Brown is a must. Nobody runs the Wildcat better than him and Miami knows it. I mean we drafted White and Brown is looking more incredible than last year out of the Cat.
This lack-of-CBA thing really messes things up for teams negotiating with players, or players like Ronnie Brown who get screwed by the lack of CBA. The league, as a whole (players, the union, and the league), is really dropping the ball, especially if they let this uncapped year or year(s) happen.
provided he doesn't ask for the moon, i bet he gets a 3 year extension .... but if he asks for a huge payday ... i bet not ... that was one reason we found a way to keep Hilliard on the roster. his days of 'running' the WC are closing ... problem is we haven't found a QB capable of running it just yet .... maybe Thigpen now, maybe White in another year ...
I love Ronnie as a person, he is also a good football player. Why wouldn't you want him on your team or in your organization?
Love Ronnie Brown and want him re-signed. However, given the circumstances (Brown remains under contact without a new labor agreement) I think the Fins are doing what's smart for this team. We're not in a position where it's beneficial to be in a hurry to sign him.
Not anytime soon......especially if he continues to be one the most exciting players in the league while running that formation.
I don't know if this was posted already... ...but if owners and the players won't come to an agreement...Ronnie stays here one more year by default, so FO might be waiting to see what happens with the situation on that field.
Ricky has already said he's going to retire in a couple years, and I doubt Cobbs can handle a full load. That would be an absurd thing to do...
I say we Franchise Ronnie after this season. Ronnie has absolutely proven to be a truly special running back in the NFL. However, he has also proven his ability to stay on the field has been a problem. If he can stay healthy for 2 years in a row I do believe he is well worth an extension. If he cannot stay healthy, a big money day cannot be in his future with the Dolphins. A dominate player isn't worth anything if he cannot stay on the field. The tag is also a great option because the RB number last year was only 6.6 million. I may be wrong but I believe this is near the cap number Ronnie is at this year. I do not believe the NFL will go on without a CBA. But it needs to be considered that Ronnie would be a UFA in 2011 during the uncapped craziness if a tag would be used on him. If this were to happen Ronnie would potentially start a bidding war and you could kiss him goodbye from the Fins. Ronnie may like this franchise option best if it would include a HUGE payday in the future.
