Great........and during the week the visiting SB tourists can drive down and see the Alamo or drive past the track where they have the Indy 500. Whoo hoo!

South Florida and what it offers is why we've hosted the most SB's......not the stadium.

We also have winter weather that is only surpassed in maybe Hawaii......so it rained once, sue us.

    Not so fast South Floridians

Remember how often San Diego used to be in the mix, they have not hosted for 7 years and don't have any of the next 4. Weather is a factor but so is the stadium

Still can't wait for the day (maybe 20 years down the road) when we get a new stadium that is built for home field advantage (Seattle)

    Live from the Internet.
I agree with JS, but at the same time...Truth is here. New stadiums are poping up. I think we need a new one.
Easier said that done, obviously, but we do.

I just can't see that happening anytime in the near future.....a huge upgrade on our exiting stadium maybe but our stadium is not some old, falling apart piece of junk. It's too "new" to build a new one just yet

Our stadium may not compare to the "Palace in Dallas"........but within a four hour drive from the stadium, we have arguably the most to offer tourists, of anywhere in the world.

I meant within 4 hours drive and everything that area encompasses.......like the most theme parks in the world, the Keys and etc...and personally, if ppl want to party I'd skip South beach and head to Ft Liquordale.

People complain about our stadium, its location(too far north, or too far west), and complain that they want a roof, more concessions, ect. I dont think people appreciate Joe Robbie Stadium for what it is. First off, Joe Robbie built that stadium with his own money, and Robbie wasn't one to shell out money(see NFL strike 1987) like that. He gave the Dolphins a home, while the Orange Bowl and the rest of the stadiums in Miami at that time were beginning to deteriorate due to poor management, mainly because the notoriously corrupt and inept Miami-Dade government neglected keep up with them and private interests wanted no part in it. Robbie, instead of taking taxpayers money as was the new practice of NFL owners who wanted a way to finance their new stadiums. The stadium was considered state-of-the-art at the time of its opening, it still is a very upkept place to hold events. And Huzienga's upgradings were a nice addition to the stadium and I believe Ross's efforts are to enhance the fan's experience, whether you agree with his actions or not so far. You gotta give them credit, at least theyre trying to keep Miami on the map as far as being an attractive place for large events, and that attracts investment, that brings jobs, which South Florida badly needs, especially Miami and its surrounding areas. Who cares, so it rained. I would love to see a Super Bowl in the snow one year. Why does it always have to be in "perfect conditions"? The weather ought to be an element in the game. We dont need to cater to the fair weather crowd. This is football. Not some television series where they need perfect weather to shoot a scene. Screw that. The NFL needs to remember the some of the best games ever played, were played in horrible conditions. The Ice Bowl. The Drive(Elway). The Snow plow game in NE. The Thanksgiving Leon Lett Fumble. The Mud Bowl(1982 AFC Championship game). The list goes on.

    Screw this guy.

The Dolphins need a new, state-of-the-art stadium in Miami.

They're the MIAMI DOLPHINS, not the Ghetto-On-The-County-Line Dolphins.

 You act like this is Lambeau Field or something.

The subject is attracting Super Bowls.

And the point is that once you've paid about $1200 for a seat, you'd at least want the experience not to suck.

A retractable dome—the only way to go as far as I'm concerned—would allow for open-air contests during the regular season and a controlled environment in special events, like ProBowls and Super Bowls. And monster-truck rallies.

And the other thing is: 70,000 seats is way too many for Miami in the present.

There was a time when 70,000 wasn't enough, and Robbie had to put bleachers in the east end zone to add capacity.

That was when Miami's pro sports scene was the Dolphins and that's it.

Now, the era calls for better control of seating; say, 55,000-60,000, maybe with the capacity to add temporary seating for special events and big games.

Plus, JRS is simply a bad stadium for the 12th man—always was, and I had season tickets there the first season they played in it.

Miami needs a stadium in the city, not 20 miles away; and it needs to be a stadium in which the fans are close to the field.

And it wouldn't hurt if the structure above the concrete, where the seats and flooring are, to be steel rather than all-concrete construction.

Part of the reason the Orange Bowl was so deafening was that you could both yell and stomp on the perforated steel flooring and it made a mighty racket when tens of thousands joined in.

A 50,000-seat stadium could easily be accommodated either along the waterfront or beside the new baseball stadium; it wouldn't cost much to buy up property there and parking could then be shared.

yea really acting like its lambeau cause I like football played the way it should be. I could give a **** if they destroyed our stadium and built a new 1. Im talkn bout ppl complaining like above how where on the borderline of the ghetto or some****. what nice area in miami would allow a stadium? nowhere.

i think its bullsh*t teams play in domes cause of bad weather, thats not a real game.

the fact that turf also damages RBs knee's faster then they would have runnin on grass.

You keep missing the point about weather; it isn't about the regular season, it's about Super Bowls and Pro Bowls.

Fact: Miami wants the $ generated by SBs/PBs and national championship games.

Fact: People who pay hundreds of dollars for tickets to one of these events don't WANT to be as miserable as if they paid $20 for bleacher seats in New England.

Fact: If the area wants the money from these events, it had better recognize the facts.

And the waterfront in downtown Miami or the area around the baseball stadium is a WAY better neighborhood than the one around JRS. I know, I worked there a while back.

By the way...there is NOT ONE recorded instance of injury caused exclusively by modern Field Turf; but as you bring that up, I find it funny that you don't seem the least bit opposed to the dirt infield at JRS, which has caused more than a few to date.

I suggest folks who find nothing wrong with a rainy Super Bowl look back at some of the articles that were written following the game.

There are no shortage of quotes from fans who paid top dollar who were miserable, left early, spend half the game int he concourses, etc. I even read one from an Indy fan that said, "totally not worth it."

If I paid $1000 for a Super Bowl ticket.....and I did last year.....I would be PISSED if it poured down wind and rain. **** that. I want to have the best time possible. I HATE it when it rains at games (maybe because it rains every time I go ). It's muddy, the parking lot is a mess, which means the inside of your car is a mess, etc.

A lot of money goes into this game. From the week leading up to the pregame, halftime, post game, all of the advertising dollars, and on and on. The weather negatively affects it.

And why WOULDN'T fans or the NFL want the biggest game on the biggest stage to be played in ideal conditions? It's a SHOWCASE. They want the best game possible. Not the Chicago Bears fumbling five times.

The FACT of the matter is, the people in attendance and the NFL were none-too-pleased about the weather. And fair or not, it has become a deterrent, along with the stadium itself.

Not a bad dream or post.

I think 60-65K would be good (10K less than now). 50K is way too small IMO, and would inevitably result in higher ticket prices.

60-65K and have them on top of the field. Make it loud again.

since u like doin ur little (Fact: )

Fact: RBs like Marshall faulk and others have stated and even an NFL film forgot which one on NFL network has stated how the rubber material in turf has cause damage to the knees and has caused cartilage problems. have fun laughin

ur crazy if u think the neighborhood around the orange bowl site is better then where landshark is. I dont see goons outside there houses offering parking for $50 on their lawns and then when you get back ur car is blocked off and they want another $20 to move it.

or if you make a right instead of a left to get on the highway you end up ina bad *** neighborhood you dont wanna go down.

and it sucks that most ppl who go to superbowls arent true football pants. nothing but a bunch of rich *** lames that go to expensive sporting events for the theatrics and not the actual love of the game

But this isn't Seattle and rainy winter days aren't the norm....

In fact on most winter days, if you're from ANYWHERE else you would stand outside and marvel at how incredibly nice it is.

The majority of late season games played in Miami are played in fantastic weather....

I agree with this.....For those of us in south Florida heading south to the games, it's WAAAAY easier to get in and out of the stadium in its present location. You put the stadium back in Miami and fewer ppl will be willing to make the trek.

Unless you can come up with a miracle plan to remedy the traffic and parking problems, I'd say no to it being in the city.

That Palace in "Dallas" ?.......is in Arlington

    r u txtng?

And wtf are you talking about? The 836 Expressway is ONE BLOCK from the new baseball stadium...and there are several 4-lane and even 6-lane surface roads leading in and out of the stadium area as well.

Plus, with a two-stadium complex it would be a cinch to justify a stadium stop to the Metrorail, which most fans would use anyway if it went anywhere.

The neighborhood around the old Orange Bowl is NOT bad, no matter how you try to characterize it that way.

I lived in Miami for 34 years, and still visit every year; that is a neighborhood where I eat, shop and enjoy the culture. No worries.

On the other hand, the neighborhood where JRS is...I was robbed at gunpoint there—only time EVER in 34 years living in the city and working in neighborhoods like Bunche Park, Liberty City, the Tent City area in the '80s and Overtown—and bitten by dogs let loose into the street by their owners ON ME there.

Bottom line: That county line neighborhood is a toilet with NO redeeming qualities to people wanting to simply enjoy a football game, and no rapid transit access.

And besides: it's the MIAMI DOLPHINS. MIAMI is the draw...or did I miss when Ft. Lauderdale got its own major sports franchise, or got a major-program college team playing there?

I don;t know that area as well as you seem too......I'm from WPB. I used to work down there a lot but that was years ago. If the highway system is as you say it is now, I'd be willing to re-think my position. But if it isn't and it's another Orange Bowl type nightmare? Say goodbye to lots of fans from the northern counties of south Florida.

And damn Nabo, that's a hell of a way for the them to treat a home boy.....has me wondering just what the hell did you do to the ppl that let their dogs out on you :shifty:

I like this thread. Both sides have interesting points. However, Miami has the advantage of home field similarly to the Jets, Patriots, Bills, etc during the winter months. When Miami goes up there in Nov-Dec, it's cold. When those teams come down to Miami in Sep-Oct, it's hot. Defenses get tired, and start sweating. Meanwhile, Dolphins players are accustomed to the heat and they play 100% for 60 minutes.
