Wow, I was always upset that Dan Marino didn't come back and play for another team after the Dolphins dumped him. Brett Favre will no doubt go down as the best QB to ever play.

He's got the Vikings in the right direction, 4-0.

Just proves Dan Marino should have still kept playing.......

    Minnesota wanted him in 98.

Could you imagine Marino to Moss?

I agree about Marino retiring early. Marino's shoulder healed fine. Dan should have gone to the Vikings and thrown to Randy Moss and Chris Carter. He would have lit it up.

The reason he didn't in the end I think is because they allowed 43 sacks the year before and lost their 2 best O-Lineman. Also, they played 12 out of 16 games on turf. I think Marino could have had special shoes made to compensate for that though.

Favre looked great tonight, but Aaron Rodgers looked better, imo.

It sucked because I got to see Marino arguably the greatest passing QB ever towards the end of his career

It's called loyalty and protecting your legacy....things Favre knows nothing about.

I just felt if he kept playing, he would have ultimately gotten a ring.

    The Dolphins pushed Marino out.

I like that Brett Favre stood up to the Packers, because tonight it proved Favre is better than Rogers....

I don't think it would have hurt Marino's legacy at all if he had went to the Vikings. I don't think it hurt Favre's too much when he went to the jests, but he is a nobody in Wisconsin now that he went to Green Bay's most hated enemy. He better keep bodyguards around him 24/7 if he plans to retire there. They freakin' hate his guts there now. :pointlol:

But Favre is pretty good no? I'm not really a big fan of Favre but he is playing like a top 10 QB. I understand where he was coming from he still wanted to play its just the packers were scared of Favre going to the Vikings.

To be honest I wouldn't have mind seeing Marino going to a different team as long as it wasn't to a division rival. Marino was my favorite player and to see him go out the way he did made me cry :(

I'm not that selfish. If my team refused to resign him, I wished him the best and would cheer him when he moved on. Remember, he wouldn't have cut and run on our team. We refused to sign him.

Him and Moss and Carter? Game over!

Aaron Rodgers outplayed Brett Favre tonight. Favre had that interception he threw in the endzone that should have stood. Rodgers played amazing considering how the Packers have the worst O-Line in the NFL easily. Did you see how much pressure the Vikings brought ALL-NIGHT-LONG?

Aaron Rodgers > Brett Favre, I thought that was common knowledge?

How many more games into this season will he play like a top 10 QB? I say he starts tossing INT's by bunches come December.

I'm glad Marino went out with class. And, he's still the best ever, as far as I'm concerned. No one could toss it like Dan. Not Favre, not Elway, not Manning... nobody.

I guess its why I love the college game a little more. like once you're a Cane you're a Cane till you die. Loyalty to your franchise, your team. not the same in NFL. from both sides FO and the player.

You're right, Brett Favre went into uncharted waters and has proven that you can play on a team, even without having the proper chemistry b.s. stuff we would always hear about certain players gelling is non-sense.

Brett Favre nearly won the AFC east last year, and looks like he will help the Vikings win their division this year.

    Very impressive.......

Some have mentioned loyalty and I chuckle. Is there any "loyalty" in anything anymore....?

We know that its hard to even get that in a personal relationship, let alone any business relationship...

I marvel in what Favre has done, I just wish Marino would have done it....

I was only 8 when he retired so I never really got to see him play, but I know nobody ever or probably ever will have his release time, I mean I watch his highlights and its like he has the rocket laser arm Peyton used to talk about on the sprint commercial a few yrs ago lol

I was pissed at the way Huizenga handled things...the way he pushed Shula out, how he let JJ the Fraud give the keys to his loser buddy Wannstache and the way he let Wanny push Marino out in favor of a Noodle armed, back up caliber QB........I wanted Dan to go to Minny just to show our owner and FO up.

But the fact he didn't, the fact he decided to go out the way he came in, a Miami Dolphin.......just made me respect him even more.

8-9 frames per second is how they used to measure it. Yea, it was ****ing fast!

I remember some good QBs they clocked during the study were Joe Montana, Randall Cuningham, Joe Namath, (can't remember any more) were all in the 12-15 frames per second with their release times.

He nearly won the AFC East but ended up losing it when he cratered near the end of the season.

Vikings had a great team before Brett arrived. Please dont pretend they dont have one of the best OLines in the league, THE best RB in the league, solid WR corps and fantastic defense.
Favre makes them better sure, but most QBs would make them better than Sage "Watch me lose this game in the last minute" Rosenfels and Tarvares Jackson.
Tonight proved Rogers is the better QB, the Vikings are the better team. I will be interested to see if Favre will have the same meltdown this year as he did last. Playing outdoors in Chitown and GB in the winter will not agree with him - he went from a cold weather QB to an old man who hates it. NO way he performs well if he needs to play in NYC in the playoffs.

The Packers made the right choice letting Favre go. And while I dont mind Favre going off and whatever (its his life, his career - he should do whatever the **** he wants), his media theatrics and personality have been nothing but shameful.

*EDIT* I dont think I could even put him as top 5 alltime QB.

The packers starting LT was out with an injury. Their whole line was reshuffled. Then late in the game their backup LT was injured and it had to be reshuffled some more.

Kinda hard to be passing the ball when your oline is made up of minute men and you're running for your life.

He did still manage to throw some laser beam passes, though. I noticed he was getting happy feet all too often.

In 1999, Marino was just a average QB, his time was up. Yea, he had his moments, but he knew his time was over. He had a great career, I think I'll just rmemeber him for that.

I am not sure if you are trying to agree with my opinion by making my case for me, or if you disagree with me?

Yes the Packers O-Line was in shambles, they allowed 8 sacks, (4.5 by Jared Allen alone) and Rodgers was running for his life on almost every pass attempt. Yet he still threw for almost 400 yards on one of the best defenses in the NFL! He looked like Joe Montana out there with a stronger arm, imo. Rodgers outplayed Favre that game.

He had nerve root damage in his throwing shoulder. Even Peyton Manning couldn't play through that. His shoulder healed. He could have played for 2-3 more years, imo.

Sorry, but he was done. He couldn't move, he couldn't protect himself, a few too many turnovers. He just couldn't make the throws he once could. Marino will be one of the best to ever play, but his time was up.

    IMO

I've always admired Dan. He played hard all those years for us. JJ &wanny screwed him big time.
BUT, Dan retired a man, he didn't think he had to prove anything to anybody.
Favre is just an old man with some decent luck who won't give up because of pride and wanting to break more records etc.
Dan was and is loyal to the team and still does a lot for the community.
Plus, everyone knows who he is and most are proud of the fact he is/was a Miami Dolphin.
He is the BEST qb ever to play in the nfl IMO.

The downward spiral of this team began with Jimmy Johnson ruining the last year's of Marino's career by trading away the talent we had in Shula's team (remember when Irvin Fryar ran all over us when he went to the eagles?), bringing in garbage running backs WHILE emphasizing the running game (remember his phrase: "RUN, RUN, RUN, and PUNT?"). He then hand-tie Marino unable to call any kind of audibles. 62-7 caps a miserable end. Finally he brings in Dave Wannsteadt to push him out of the team for the set of QB's that start with the letter F. What miserable years of mediocrity. John Avery, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and JJ Johnson. Enough said.
