Without the 100 yards and 6 conversions the TD catch is meaningless. Also, he has made the big catch in the past.

Ginn changes games without the ball in his hand because of his speed. We have no other WRs who can do this. If he continues to improve like he has, I will be very satisfied with him. He might not have the stats, but that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t help the team. We just had a QB switch, lets see what happens with him over the next 5-6 weeks.

The way our defense was playing, you're telling me that Peyton Manning couldn't drive for a touchdown in under a minute? Considering Manning was doing that all night without having to do so... tells me our defense would have choked.

That pass was a bad throw and the defense back was yanking down on Ginn. There should have been a pass interference call, but what can you do?

You're putting a magnifying glass on Ginn but ignoring the rest of the team and that's just straight up unfair and biased.

Not really, I wasn't really that bitter... I was more bitter that our defense gave up 27 points in 15 minutes of possession time.

That's your side of it of course.

    This is "Break-out" year.
    That's what we keep hearing.
After watching 2 years of just about nothing, this is the year we are supposed to be able to finally judge him.

Well let's see, he had a nice game against the Colts with the exception of dropping the game winner. He did do many other nice things, and of course we can't pin the loss on him

Aside from that, in 3 games, he has 3 receptions for 30 yards........THREE FREAKIN RECEPTIONS.
Hell, he let more than that go right through his freakin hands last week.

Keep calling him what you want......but keep that in mind 3 for 30 yards in 3 games.

    Well what are those facts?

That if you look hard enough you can scrape up something positive to say about him?

That doesn't change the fact he's playing himself out of the number 1 spot....

Doesn't change the fact that this offense is starving for a big play WR

I think some take the bashing too far but some of you just seem to need someone to defend.

Hell this argument is like watching someone play pin ball......it's all over the place.

He had about 900 yards from the LOS last year. 4 TDs I believe. Elite? No. Nothing? Absolutely not.

I expect more from him.Im dissappointed, I want some explosion. But lets not get it twisted here, our passing offense isn't passing Ginn by. If others were stepping up hard around him, we'd have a legit issue. As it stands now, our passing offense has yet to find itself.

The issue is that we lack someone to step up and be a play maker.....if we had that guy, Ginn would quickly fall back into the pack. And the passing game will never find itself until we acquire better down field targets for Henne.

When you have to dig that hard to defend someone, maybe you should just stop.

    Grade A rebuttal right there.

It's not that hard. Go to NFL.com, look at the Colt's past four games. Divide their points scored by T.O.P.

You use a calculator for 1/2 of it, it's not rocket science.

That is obvious, but let me ask you, do you feel that regardless of how bad our defense played against a very very good offense, do you feel that Ginn should have caught that TD

Absolutely not.....plenty of blame to go around for that game.

Beyond the whole Tedd Ginn issue, the problem we have is a lack of play maker at WR and for that matter, at TE as well.

Ted Ginn is a complimentary player......not a go to guy. If any of you are waiting for that to happen, get a case of Snickers bars.

Yes, but more than that, I feel that he catches that pass more often than not. And I think he makes the catch under the same circustances regarding the PI and late high throw. He has made tuffer catches.

What does a "go to guy" do in your opinion? And why wouldn't a go to guy be complimentary. Good players make everyone around them better.

Useless is what it is.....A Peyton Manning led offense scores faster than a run first, ball control offense?

    My god that's brilliant!

And if you're using that to defend Ted Ginn, quite random at best.

Let's take a look at Net punting yards for punters whose last name ends with an 'e"

Seriously tho, proving that the defense was more at fault than Ginn for the Colt's loss, doesn't help make a case for Teddy. Only he can do that and with his play........and he's not doing so. Him pouting on the bench during the second half says the coaches agree.

He catches a 10 yd pass and takes it to the house, he breaks a tackle on occasion, he goes up in traffic and snatches the football away from others. He's someone that scores TD's.....he's a red zone threat.

So far Teddy is just a track star that disappears more often than not...

Well, one game in 38 isn't bad, here let me do the math for you Griddles "1/38=.02631.

You then move the decimal to the left two places, and Ginn has a stellar game 2% of the time

He asked for a flash of greatness and considering he's a Jets fan, I figured I'd bring up the Jets game where he made some nice catches on some passes that were way off the mark from Pennington.

It amazes me with the rebuttals right now... "it says a lot when you go to all the work to find points per minute even though you just divided two numbers", "this is a thread about ginn, not about the defense.. doesn't matter if we're comparing their negative impacts against the same team", "let's take one example and act as if that's the only game where ginn's made an impact", and I'm sure there will be more.

Not nearly as amazing as your persistence to defend the guy, given the lack of ammo you have to make a case.

Does Ted Ginn need to be downgraded as our number one?

Do we need to find someone better at making plays, scoring TD's?

Should have caught the ball, and lost the game for us are two different things. Yes, he should have caught the ball...which would habe bailed out the D for their piss poor play. He didn't catch it, and we lost...but we lost cause our defense was absolutely terrible.

While we're bringing up "should'ves", should Pennington have thrown the ball earlier?

Also, I'm in the camp that thinks that if we had a Fitz or someone like that opposite Ginn, Ginn would explode all over everyone (no homo), and not fall back into the pack. If he was seeing single coverage, and was playing in the slot, he would decimate opponents. See, I don't think he is a number one, but right now he is OUR number one because we have no one else that can stretch the field and demand double coverage. I don't think he's elite, but like I said earlier, I think he could be top 10 or 15. Kinda like TJ and Johnson in Cincy.

    That's your opinion.

I defend the guy because I don't think he deserves the harsh criticism from some people, in particular you.

I don't think he's going to be an elite #1 WR. I think he'd be better as a #2. But I don't think he deserves the crap he's getting from the fan base. The word bust is thrown around way too much and he's far from it. He's outperformed 70% of drafted WRs selected from 7th overall to 32nd overall since 1997 so by comparison I'd say he's doing fine...

I just feel that expectations are being set too high.

I agree strongly with this :shifty:
If we can procure a top notch WR he would make a very nice complimentary. Unfortunately, that is not what you expect from somebody picked 9th overall....and no, that obviously isn't his fault any more than our defense against the colts was his fault.

Unfortunately for Ginn, that is largely cause our passing game sucks and that includes him.

What gerts me are those that still being him being an elite WR in here. It just isn't true.

I expect it after losses, but after wins? Cmon fellas. Lets talk about how we want Ginn to develop instead of wishing he'd be off the team. Imagine how horrible we are without Ginn.

I mean, yeah he caught 1 pass for 4 yards. Henne threw 115 yards. I'm dissappointed in Ginn for sure, but it's not as if Henne set the backfield in flames and everyone partaked except Ginn. he needs to produce more, I'll be the first to say. But some of yall ragging on him like he's a Jet.

3rd and 9 and Bess lets a pass go through his hands. Ginn had one catchable pass and he caught it. The rest were crap.

I don't think many feel he's an elite wide receiver... I think some people feel that he's harshly criticized for the wrong reasons.

Ginn is certainly one of my favorite players, but I don't think he's going to ever be an elite wide receiver. I think we'd be better with an elite wide receiver like Brandon Marshall or someone, but what team wouldn't? I'd love to see Patrick Turner evolve into something special, but we have to give him time.

And for the record, I was one of the people that strongly wanted either Hakeem Nicks or Kenny Britt with our first round pick.
