Sean Smith leads the Dolphins with passes defended and I read where he is 3rd in the NFL as far as passes being completed on him. And Will Allen is showing his age. I think Will Allen could lose his starting job within 4-5 games. I think our coaches did the right thing in getting both rookies into the game to give them both experience. Here is the thing I will always remember about this draft and this pick. First off, our front office has HUGE BALLS. I broke this down once but if you want to, go to NFL.com, then draft tracker and look at the 5 teams who picked after us. Sean Smith is on the board and after us are at least 3 teams that could/should of grabbed him. And our front office...............TRADES DOWN WITH THE COLTS! I had been talking and watching S.Smith for months (since the game against Bama) so we pass on him and I slightly peed myself..... But then he is not only still setting there, but with the pick we get from the Colts we take............Chris Clemons who is IMO another steal of the draft. He is not only the fastest Safety at the combine(and about the biggest), but he averaged over 100 tackles a year at Clemson. I'm looking for all three to be starters by the first game of next season if not late this year
With the poor play by our vets it seems like the rookies entry will be speeded up. It would be great to have three starting defensive backs from the same draft. I sure would like to see one of the rookies to get an Int. I wonder what the odds would be of a team getting three starting DBs in the same draft?
I think within 6-8 weeks the rookies will be starting in both Cb spots, considering particularly how poorly Will Allen has played so far IMHO. And if Gibril doesn't shape up, I wouldn't be that surprised to see Clemons starting by the last 4-5 games of the season, especially if we are out of the playoff hunt.
i still cant believe how terrible Will has played to this point. He went from our best cover guy to our worst in the course of an off season. and he was terrible terrible in preseason to, but i figured..its preseason. but apparently something is wrong there, whether it be an injury and age. i remember last year he was playing with some pretty bad injuries, i wonder if thats catching up to him now?
I hope what ever change is needed it will happen soon. I would love to see some of these in live games. I'd be happy with them just stopping or at least limiting the big pass strikes and third down passing.
