Of course we all know this will be the case now with Pennington out but I believe with the force the O-line has been playing in the running game they should succeed. Henne doesn't need to be spectacular, just efficient. Not Pennington efficient (not possible) but just make the occassional play such as hitting Ginn when he's open down the field. Ronnie, needs this with a contract year anyway and if running hard. I believe he'll be well over a thousand yards and 10 TD's this year, especially now! But Ricky needs to keep playing hard now too. Honestly it will be more like Cobbs as the backup with R&R Express getting 20+ carries a piece. Of course this all is predicated on the Pass-D getting fixed quick and keeping the Run-D as-is! If we continue getting the run-game going as it has been and correct a couple issues in Pass-protection and Pass-coverage we'll magically turn into a good team! Henne, it ain't all on you my friend so don't think it is. That being said, if our running game gets stuffed by anyone we could be in trouble! Thoughts?
It doesn't matter how well we run...if the D doesn't get better we won't be in a position to run anyway.
I agree with you, to an extent. That is to say, with the way the defense has been playing, we're just not good enough to hang with the elite teams. Indy and Diego have already shown that. So, we're likely going to see Henne in more passing situations than we'd probably like to, especially late in games. JMHO...
Our secondary is a probably the main reason why we haven't won any games yet. However the pass offense hasn't help matters much. Henne's performance isn't going to determine how much better the offense will get. I believe that our anemic passing game has more to do with our receivers and te, and no matter how good henne is, when wide recievers drop 2 sure 3rd down conversions, two sure tds, and when tight ends fumble 2 footballs, and drop a sure td, the passing game is going to look horrible.
Luckily it's still early and we have our next three games at home... These division games are critical so we need to show that although these playoff teams are good and got the better of us that we ain't laying down and have the talent to win! R&R Express will be in full effect this week!
From what I've heard on the radio and what I've read online so far, having basically a rookie QB come in and play, the play calling will be just as conservative as it has been if not more conservative. My worry, besides our pass defense, is that the defenses we play will start really stacking the box with 8-9 forcing Henne to beat them with the pass. I hope Henning has enough trust in Henne to let him test the defenses secondary, otherwise the run game won't get much accomplished no matter how good the O line is run blocking or how good Ricky and Ronnie play.
Both Ronnie and Ricky have already shown their heart. Total TD's for the Dolphins is 4 this year, 2 from Ronnie and 2 from Ricky.
Ricky & Ronnie: one of the best tandems in the NFL & the Offensive Line is improving when they acquire Orca-5 quality, the Tandem from Hell will be the best in the NFL however both Henne & especially GinnJr have to prove their worth as franchise quality pieces in 2009 no more excuse, no more complaints, this is their year to make their bones or move on. should be interesting to watch
If Henne can become the passer we all hope he will be then it will open up the run even more. It would be really great to have a versatle offense that can be carried by the run or the pass. If Henne can show that he can hit someone all over the field including the long ones then the defense wont be able to stack anything but thats JMO.
