I forgot about Hartsock. That's a pretty good blocking tight end there. He was often featured in the two tight end sets for Atlanta and helped lead the way for Turner's season. That's going to be interesting then, as it adds the dimension of Dustin Keller down the middle.

    Damn.

    So,

Seeing as how I am feeling WAaaaay under the weather (Better not be that damn Pig Flu :pity: ), I stayed home and lo-and behold they had the Jests Gints game on... a few thoughts.

First and foremost, the Dirty one did indeed look pretty good against a very very good Giants Defense, although I think 3 or 4 starters werent in. He has a nice short throw, and makes his decisiosn very quickly...perhaps too quickly. He was constantly stairing down he man he was going to. Of course that is something that can and will be corrected. The Gints blitzed the hell out of him, he hung tough and got off some nice passes. If he can absorb all hat punishment, he is gonna be a pretty good QB I imagine. Will have to see.

Lito Sheppard is a bad CB... He is a very very very bad CB. If I was Rex (God he gets bigger by the day I swear) Ryan, I wouldve been pouncing on Eric Green when we released him. Sheppard was interfering almost every single play. Some he got called for some he didnt. He was very rarely in position to make a play, but always in a position to *****.

Carl Banks is as good an announcer as he was a football player. Very solid in the booth.

And last, and least as well, Vernon Gholston is really bad... I mean REALLY REALLY bad. That kid is NOT a good football player...at all.
I have no idea exactly what happened, but the very few times he was in position to make a play, he whiffed. He doesnt even resemble a football player IMO. He is timid, laxidasical, and the speed he used to possess seems to be gone.

I hope you recover quickly Az.

When I feel down I check on Jets sites and look for Vern "Ghost" Ghoston threads and I'm instantly cheered up.

Rex Ryan won't be able to fix Vern Gholston, he deals with veterans who know how to play and where to be, Gholston needs a Cameron Wake moment, where his career just has dead ended and then he has to decide if he really does want to play football.

Right now Ghost is the position of not playing well, and not playing enough, and with enough savvy/desire to improve, it's a catch 22 for him in NY.

Thanks Paddy. Going on day two of this crud now, and honestly not feeling much better. Worst thing is I have to keep my kids at bay, and they are too young to realize why.

Anywho, I am not sure Gholston will ever get it. What I saw was a man that just flat out didnt belong on the field. He never had any idea what his assignment was, or was just too un-enthused to do it.
For whatever reason, I think a really negative switch has gone off on his head.
For the record, I thought he would be an "Adequate" player in the NFl when coming out. He is undoubtably a good athlete, but he also had lots of Body-Building mucsles, and I noticed his physique has changed considerably.

Anywho, glad he's a Jest and not a Phin.... Go Jake

That is rough about the kiddies Az.

As for Mr. Gholston...:dunno: to me his measurables were Cam Wake like, but he doesn't have Wake's fire or drive, not even when rushing the passer.

Wake and the Ghost do share somethings in common besides the number, they both picked up Football later in High School and neither played pop warner or Jr High ball, they both were instant success, with scholarship offers coming quickly.

Started a thread on him in the Draft forum

]Jets traded for NE castoff O'Connell:

If they jets cut Clemons, their Qb roster will have a total of -0- starts in the NFL...wow...that would be crazy.

Perhaps, or they don't like Ainge, or Sexxy subscribes to the "don't keep a Qb who makes the starting Qb feel threatened" theory.

    Oh yeah..

because he's been your franchise QB worth the 5th overall pick or whatever pick it was you traded UP to grab him and lose the rest of your draft for 10 years.

Schlegel was... unfortunate. Clemens may turn into a solid backup. But yeah a disappointment.

Eric Smith is playing great football so far this year, Rex is making a player out of him. They have given him a role covering TEs and RBs, sort of like a safety/linebacker hybrid and he is thriving.

Brad Smith is a special teams ace, which is a pretty good return on a 4th rounder.

The rest of those guys are late rounders, not really bad drafting if they don't pan out. Late rounds are pretty much a crapshoot.

What does this even mean? We didn't give up any future draft picks to trade up.

I love the jet fans immigration when they are winning hahah
Just like 124 last year, was all over the place up until week 10...then he went MIA :)) I guess the difference between me and others (not speaking for other fans, just myself, from dolphins, or jets fan standpoint) I don't go around talkin ****. I went on the jets board after monday night lost..and remeber why i hate the jests and most of their fans.
    Anyway congrats, solid start.
I hate the jets with a passion, and consider them in the top 3 of ****ties franchises to exist )))
Ryan is doing pretty good on the D, but i think he is getting too much credit. Jets had a solid D last year, until about week 10, we all know what went on. STILL not sold on Sanchez, just not. Could it be because imm a dolphins fan? Might be. But honestly, I have not seen him do anything awesome from QB prespective. I understand he is a rookie, and he IS doing a good job of NOT making mistakes, but thats about it. TDs for the most part are to wide open guys, which again, are TDs :)) ...but to wide open fellas :shifty:
Im going to the MNF football game...last MNF game? Jets/fins christmas night. We all remember that game. But I have a secret weapon with me this time....Cynthia. That's right, were 3-0 with her in attendance :D
Won't say good luck, because I won't mean it. TBH i hope you guys will lose every game. But I will give credit where credit is due, and I will not get personal with people.
Besides, all I have to do is look at their all time record, I feel better already :D

But you are indeed of the minority BZ.
The other 98% of Jest fans don't show up in here till you're winning and were losing.

Says as much good about you as it does bad about them I guess

It is the same with any fans...

Pats and Dolphin fans are all over the Jets boards when we lose. We are 3-0 and they are all gone, like someone went into the kitchen and turned on the lights... the roaches all go scattering.

To say it is more true of one fan base than another, is a little one sided.

The only group I have not heard a PEEP out of are the Bills. I guess after 10 years they just keep to themselves.

Okay Mario, the game was December 28th, I was here January 1st, although I believe I was here the 29th or 30th, it won't let me look back in that area. But it also shows that I have ZERO posts from September 9th until January 1st.

So yeah, do your research before you talk smack on me kid.

Invade might be strong, but like most years, there will be a BUNCH of Jet fans in attendance. We are pretty hyped up this year.

Henne is going to have a rough few weeks to get his feet wet, but you will find out what you have in him, that is for sure.
