i put most of the blame on the defense to there is no way we should have even gave up 27 points when the colts arnt even on the field for 15 mins but i also blame the OC and chad pennington for the last drive they let way to much time to run off the clock and if we would have been quicker i think we would have had a much easier shot for a TD
Ditto. I completely disagree with you. You don't play sound defense, it doesn't matter what your offense does. Anyone who thinks you have to score 30 points in every game to win is just plain wrong. Check the NFL ticker. All of them on defense. If we cover Dallas Clark properly, we WALK with an easy win.
My bad. Chad Pennington = rocket arm. What was I thinking? EDIT: By the way, if I sound like a jerk in my posts tonight, it's because I am being a jerk tonight. Nothing personal. I am about to put my head through the wall. I'll apologize tomorrow.
This game was lost on 3rd and 6 with 4 min left when we decided to run a draw instead of putting the damn ball in Pennington's hand to see if we could have converted. Try to put 7 on a gassed, beat up defense what kind of wanny ball was that seriously settling for a FG with 4 min left with a top 3 QB, colts offense that was touching our D on the other side horrible. This team needs to get some killer instinct if there are going anywhere. **** and can someone find us a D player that can cover a damn TE. We have been burned by TE's the pass 5 years we need help in this area pronto!!!!
That argument works if last week, the Jags didn't hold them to only 14 points. Yes, it's Peyton Manning, he's not a fun QB to play defense against. But that's where we lost the game. Our offense is not a shootout offense, when was the last time we played like that? I seriously can't remember in recent history any games where we could. Our gameplan today was to stifle Peyton Manning, and put up as good an offense as we could. Our offense kept the ball out of his hands for over 75% of the game, but our defense couldn't make the stops needed. Yes, the play calling at the end was absolutely moronic. However, it should never have gotten to that point. 1st play of the game, 7 points for Indy, are you joking me? Seriously? And that was the story of the night all night. Yes the Offense could have done some things differently, but by no means was their play "bad." No one here can justify our Defensive play as anything BUT bad.
who said anything about deep balls?!?! how about we just throw. period. running on 3rd and long with 3 minutes left is a joke dude. and how did we not lose the game in the last 3 minutes?!?!? did you fall asleep? 2 draw plays, time out, arrow route to fasano, qb sneak, time clicking clicking clicking away........seriously dude gimme a break. how could you even say that?
Huh? Didn't the Colts just show us that is completely incorrect?? You don't have to score 30 points to win, you are right--but you have to score in the redzone and stop teams in the redzone. We learned that last year. We make a FG, we can kick a FG in that situation to win. We make a TD catch, we can kick a FG to win the game. We score multiple TDs, rather than playing for FGs, we have our hands team on the field to cover the onside kick. To think this wasn't a complete loss and that all 3 phases didn't leave plays/points wouldn't be a fair assessment.
We played Wanny ball, who the **** plays for FGs against the Colts? 3 and 6- run FG 3 and 7 - run FG and Penny was effiecient on third down, why the hell wont you grow balls when you've converting them all night? This loss falls on coaching, Defense and yes Ginn should have caught those passes. We should have scored more than we did.
The first draw doesn't bother me. It's a definite way to catch the defense napping. The second one, and the time used up (and time out taken), did bother me. Terrible playcall. I agree with you on this one. The QB sneak also doesn't bother me because it allows us to get the first down and spike the ball. Giving Pennington time to regather himself. The playcalling was bad the last 3:00, but I more or less blame the offense for having their thumbs up their asses as well as the playcalling at the point.
Agree. With 3:18 left and 2 TOs...I don't mind the opening draw. It didn't work. After that, we've got to be on the damned ball and ready to run a play to the sidelines or that picks up 10+ yards. Yet, we fiddle-fart around waste 40 seconds then at 2:26 we decide to call a TO. After the TO, we come back out, run another draw and we aren't prepared with another play to get up and run before the 2:00 warning. I don't know if that falls on Henning to Pennington, but I'm very interested to know. It was some of the worst clock management I've ever seen. I played QB in High School and after a TO, in a 2 min situation, you have 2 plays ready in the event the clock is running. How do the Dolphins not? It was just so odd because we looked so unprepared, sluggish, devoid of confidence, and again unprepared. For a team that credits its success to preparation and a QB that echoes the same sentiments, it looked the complete opposite.
Bingo. That was just shocking. Overall, though...the offense played well (though not perfectly), except for the last three minutes. With the defense it was the opposite...a couple of good series, but just unwatchable the rest of the time.
We could have tried throwing it at Ginn...he had what, 6 3rd down conversions, and a fourth down conversion? Posted via Mobile Device
Another brilliant thread, highlighting the true nature of the vast majority of Miami fans. Quite, quite spectacular.
i had just got done punching a wall.......i wasnt in the right frame of mind at the time. firing is ridiculous, but those calls at the end of the game settling for long field goals.....were completley and utterly ridiculous
Lol...I hate to break the news here fellas but Sick was sober.Hey maybe he did make this thread out of frustration but not drunkeness, it is hard to agree with calling draw plays when we need alot of yards...
Fair enough re: the draw, but 12 months ago, this place was full of people calling Henning the offensive mastermind that he is by ripping apart the Patriots 38-10 in their house with a new system called the Wildcat offense. It was the same Dan Henning that helped get us to 11 wins and an AFC East title with a remarkably innovative offensive system that took Brown to the Pro Bowl and Pennington to the MVP runner up award. One bad call does not a sacking make. Given that we'd already run all over them for nigh on 250 yards and given that it was 3rd and 6 and an exhausted defence was expecting a pass and given that Ronnie was in rare form, you can understand exactly why they called a draw. Do I think it was the right call? No. But I can certainly understand why they called it. Rushing 4, dropping two linebackers into coverage and with the corners and safeties off. A little playaction and you could easily see Ronnie hit that up inside for 6, especially given the fact that the OL were run blocking so well that much of his first contact was coming at around 3 yards past the LOS.
It's also hard to agree that the offense loses the game for you when the opposing team needs less than 15 mins to score 27 points.
Visit with me for six months. I'll net you three DUIs, two possession charges, at least one drunk and disorderly and we'll throw in a date rape or two. If Eric comes along, too, that is.
If you're talking about the one during the 2 minute drill... I think what they wanted to do was get the first down to spike the ball and give them time to draw up a good play. I wouldn't mind seeing a QB sneak, then fake spike... loft it up to Ginn or something to that effect. Maybe you'll catch someone napping. But I can see where you're coming from, but also where they are coming from.
