Ken was an amazing college QB IMO. Much like Weinke (sp) was for FSU. Except younger obviously. He won you games with his mind, and always put the ball where it needed to be. Just my opinion.
I would say Kelly, Kosar and Testy are the best 3 UM QBs, Dorsey would be 4th and I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Tan Marino is 5th. Great win last night, if the Canes beat the VaTech then they belong in the top 10.
I'd say: Vinny Testaverde Bernie Kosar Gino Toretta Steve Walsh Ken Dorsey Jim Kelly Craig Erickson Those Qb's either won national titles, or were #1 picks, or won the Heisman. One of the barriers to Jacory being considered for the Heisman this year is the sports media despises the Canes, literally they still make jokes about Catholics vs the Convicts on ESPN radio...
Just my humble opinion but Kenny Calhoun has to be on any Cane fans favorite list...perhaps the biggest play in Canes history...lucky as heck but huge nothing the less...............
speaking of which can someone make me a gif of that look shannon gave the kicker after the second miss.......
Not my .gif, I got it from a Canes board that I visit. http://www.miami-hurricanes.com/forum/tm.asp?m=598937&p=1&tmode=1&smode=1
anyone see and hear paul johnson scream at his kid; "are you really that stupid?" it was worse than the shannon stare
Was that when they got a false start and had to punt? I think it was number 64 walking to the sideline, Johnson said it and the player wouldn't turn his head around.
Terrel Pryor sucks. Well, he is a very good athlete, but a poor QB. At this point Forcier is a better QB. Harris definitely seems like a better QB, and it isn't even close.
for ****s and giggles..check out this all-time Cane Defense: DE Rusty Medderris DT Jerome Brown DT Cortez Kennedy DE Daniel Stubbs OLB Darrin Smith MLB Ray Lewis OLB Jesse Armstead CB Ryan McNeil CB Phillip Buchanan SS Bennie Blades FS Sean Taylor DL Reserves: Warren Sapp, Greg Mark, Russel Maryland, Kenny Holmes LB Reserves: George Mira Jr., Michael Barrow, Maurice Crum, Jon Beason Secondary reserves: Charles Pharms, Bubba McDowell, Antrel Rolle
Kanye West says: Jacory I know you throwin the ball and ima let you finish, but Tom Brady is one of the best quarterbacks of all time.
VT pulled it out with seconds to go to beat Nebraska. I hate VT, but it works for us 'cause the higher they are in the polls, the better it looks for us when we play them next week.
That Linebacker list but I always have a spot in my heart for this guy [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c5iB0HOeObQ"]YouTube - Rohan Marley[/ame] so Many times he was just in the backfield...like he was shot out of a gun.
He was so fast and athletic. In any other LB list Michael Barrow couldn't help but be #1, but Ray Lewis keeps him a backup on The U's list, unfortunately. But man, that run we had at LB with Darrin Smith, Barrow, Armstead, Lewis, Morgan and about a half-dozen others...just "WOW!" Colin McCarthy = the Next Great Linebacker from Miami.
Nice. Don't think he stands a chance to even be considered, since those things are so predetermined rather than considered on worth. But it would be so sweet to have him sitting front row this December at the DAC.
http://espn.go.com/college-football/rankings/_/poll/1 Miami ranked at #9. Virginia Tech at #11 and Oklahoma at #10 We are no longer underdogs. We are expected to win, now lets go out and do it.
After the last few years, it will feel strange to go in favored over a top-10 team. It's good to be strange.
Well for starters we have the worst QB coach in the nation. Were not even using Pryor right. We should have used Pryor how we just used him to beat Toledo. Also Miami actually has a OC that calls good plays. Now Pryor still makes poor choices and he may never get over that. Btw I know U fans would love to see this match. FedEx Orange (BCS vs. BCS) Miami (FL) vs. Ohio State http://espn.go.com/college-football/bowls/projections?season=2009&week=3 Would be a compelling match up leading up to next season.
Jacory Harris has turned one of his biggest doubters into one of his biggest believers. I must admit I am falling in love with this kid, no John Amaechi.
WTF! Top 10????????? I was thinking 12-15 tops. Don't shoot me but I'm more thrilled to be ranked that high because if we lose @ Virginia Tech, we're a lock to remain ranked.
What's this... ESPN giving us love? They're saying they don't know why we're only #9. John Adams has us #4, but then again, he's got Bama #1.
HD I think Bama deserves #1 after what I've seen from them in their games and what I saw from Florida in theirs. We just need to take care of our business. We get in over Texas even if we are both undefeated.
I wish we could have a bit better attendance though seriously......home games would be better if we had it lol...... we go in doak and they have like 81,000 strong and come back and have like half that ish....
cant wait for this [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1zTpPEXNGQ&feature=channel_page"]YouTube - The U (Teaser Clip)[/ame]
I know...rough list indeed. only wanted to carry 3 safeties...don;t think Ed Reed could beat either of my starters...and Bubba McDowell was a play making machine for the U. rough list.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5FzK1K0AuM"]YouTube - Miami Hurricanes 2008 Highlights DVD (allCanes.com)[/ame] Watching this made me realize we had playmakers last year, they just need leadership and experience. We have that now on offense in Whipple and Harris, and Shannon has always been a defensive guy who I trust.
I actually agree with this. I simply halfway agree with the notion in completely doing away with last week's rankings when coming up with this week's. I think #1 coming in should remain #1 until someone takes their crown, and this is coming from an anti-Gator 110% of the way. It's just the way my standards are, but I understand why people feel like Alabama is more deserving of the #1 spot. Hopefully they prove that in the SEC championship, unless Miami is still undefeated (without thinking ahead)... I would want Florida.
