    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtPoC8jJzRA"]YouTube - Oregon's LeGarrette Blount punches Boise State's Byron Hout[/ame]

    To recap:

    1. punches own teammate in the face
    2. punches boise state player in the face (the bronco wasn't wearing a helmet)
    3. boise state fans are heckling him and he nearly gets to the fans before Oregon staffers pull him back
    4. he gets dragged off the field by staffers, security, and policy

He had been running his mouth about getting revenge vs. Boise State after the Broncos beat them in Eugene. His team gets whooped, and he rushes 8 times for -5 yards.

Talk about a bad day at the office.

When did all this take place T-2?

A couple of things come to mind:

IF he has Pro Talent, he just lost MILLIONS simply from this.
Why didnt he have that fight when carrying the rock.
He's lucky he didnt get Tazed.
He's REALLY lucky he didnt get pulled into the stands, thats how death happens...and quickly.
Better hope he doesnt have to go back and play there again...or even play Boise State again, I could easily see kids going for extremities.

    That was unacceptable.

If Blount is still on the team tomorrow it speaks badly of the Ducks' program.

In all fairness, it looked like he was being a prick. He said something and his coach immediately went after him like he strongly disapproved. He was taunting. He messed with the bull, and he gots the horns.

Not to say this Blount guy didn't act like a Class A d-bag.

Just an unbelievable display of immaturity.

    Was he getting hecked? Yes.

Does that give him a right to go nuts? No.

    :pity:

This guy needs to be suspended for a number of games after this.

NO doubt the Bronco player seemed to be doing some trash talk...did that warrant a punch he did not see coming? I don't know. Blount should get a hold of that video so he can show his buddies time after time..cause he just threw away any chance he had playing football for Oregon and probably a scholarship. But most def worth it in the big picture....not really. I hate the nonsense of trash talk...punching him in the face is not even close..remotely to a response.

well he did a little more then trash talking, he got up on Blount and slapped his shoulder pad. personally you can talk all you want cuz i can control myself, just dont touch me.

everything else hes a jackass for and deserves a suspension and even the punch was 'dumb' i guess. but i can see why he did it, cuz i would of done the same thing.

    Brother,

These guys trash talk back and forth and even smack each other all freakin day long. Its football, thats what they do.

To wait till the guy is looking the other way, with his helmet off (Blount of course still had his on) is nothing but Chicken **** coward crap. If he has that much of a beef, wait till after the game and call him out like a man amano amano. Dont chicken punch him when he isnt looking, that's what my little sister would do.

He then levitates it to a rediculous level. I hope the kid is kicked off the team.

Then you like him would be kissing your college career goodbye, plain and simple. No room in sports for head cases. Someone "slaps" your shoulderpads and talks trash to you so you cheap shot him? Come on....this is football not street ball, thats not how you handle things like that. You know how you get revenge for things like that? You get better. You train in the gym more, and you work harder than anyone else and you beat them next time you play. That is revenge done the right way. He gets a failhorn.

I don't like touching either but that touch was by no means any type of fight or assault...what he did in retaliation was..plain and simple. Seems like he does not have the best history to begin with and this probably puts him out. You think this was the first time he was trashed talked to??..or he never trashed talked anyone else? You NEVER see this type of response..EVER...well maybe in an alley or street corner but not at the end of a game. Time and place for everything in this world...the young man should have just eaten it..he had no other mature and logical choice..instead he chose neither:no::no:

Amen..You eat it and walk away and prove it on the field. I wonder if his teammate who he shoved"touched" him or talked trash? or the fan he went after did the same? TOTALLY unacceptable. I wonder how the NCAA or his School will enjoy dealing with this? The decisions and actions we choose in life everyday affect the todays and tomms of our lives. Sad but true.

kinda ironic, on "sportsmanship weekend," when all the players are supposed to meet at the 50 yard line and shake hands before the game. liike they did in Boise last night. :pity:

one could just as easily argue that Blount got what he deserved from the BSU player, after his trash talk leading up to this game.

and his actions after that, trying to go into the stands, makes the guy pretty indefensible.

Well, when you guys say he is kissing his college and pro career goodbye, he probably was doing that anyways if he would've kept putting in rushing performances like he did last night.

    8 carries, -5 yards.

That may be true, but he did set the School record for TD's last year

    http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recap?gid=200909030112

I personally doubt he actually gets kicked off the team, and maybe, all things considered, that would be pretty harsh....but, I would imagine many Pro Scouts just put a big red X next to his name on their draft boards...and I imagine this kid is NOT going to hear the end of it, either from his Coach, Team mates or others he will have to play against in the future.
Its gonna be an uphill battle for him from here on out me thinks.

Its a fitting end to his high grade. The reason is because of all the things that King Felix referred to earlier in this thread and the fact that there were issues with his willingness to be a better player. He didn't have a great work ethic and was criticized in the past for his lack of it. This on the field accident is just another issue added to the ones he's already got. I know a lot of mock draft sites and fans have had him as a first rounder for a while now simply because of his incredible size and his productivity last year but its tough to place him so high when he's troublesome. I'm sure there will be a team that takes him on, maybe the Raiders as you noted earlier in a sarcastic post or maybe even the 49ers, who have a tough-minded head coach that feels he can get productivity out of a special talent that has issues. However, the lack of work ethic "news" came out months ago and that's when I think his stock started to slide a bit or at least for most teams. He could go anywhere between third and fifth round right now IMO.

I wouldn't say that but I do think he's damaged his stock at the moment. If he shows up at the combine, which I'm sure he'll get invited to or at least does a Pro Day, and posts some good artificial numbers, teams will fall in love with him again and possibly overdraft him. There's always one in the bunch that puts so much emphasis on the numbers, i.e. Cincinnati Bengals.

I honestly doubt he will go anywhere before the 6th round, and I think an UDFA is just as likely.

All these things put together, add in missing an entire year of Football.

This silly little incident definately just changed this young man's life. :pity:
