So far tonight Beck is having a nice game so far. 15 of 26 for 215 yds and 2 td no int. I love this kid and still believe we let him go to soon.
I think if he was 22-23 years old we never would have released him. He's a guy I can see coming along and being a very good starter for a team late in his career, or rather from the age of 30 on.
Just noticed he also has a 106.6 passer rating for the pre-season. Granted it is only pre-season but I wish nothing but good games for this kid.
He finished 16/28 with 2 Td's and 238 yards, WITHOUT a pick. I really think he is gonna do fine somewhere.
Under Cams system he can be a great QB. Quick release great short accuracy. He just needs protection.
Johnny is still my guy and if not for those 3 drops he would have been 19-28 and over 300 yards! Plus one of those drops would have been a TD instead they ended up with a FG. His long ball was on the money tonight. The Ravens got a winner IMHO. I still say Johnny is going to be a good one!
I love the guy but was he playing against third stringers? If so, not as big of a game as it may sound unfortunately.
exactly, hes playing against guys that will be working 9-5 jobs, or floating around other teams practice squads in one week.........too big of a deal is being made about his numbers imo
Beck's got all the tools. He just had a little anxiety to overcome. This regime wasn't the type to coddle you while you sorted that out.
He was actually playing against the starters, not the backups. He played really well, and I'm happy for him. This game most likel solidified the backup spot for him, too. Btw, 3 former Dolphins on the Ravens now. Beck, Parmele and Foster.
As stated, the numbers on the first post were first half, and almost exclusively against the Falcons 1's. Gotta give this kid huge credit.
Sorry guys but you both are very wrong. The Ravens number 2's offense played all night and they opened up against Atlanta's number 1 defense. Johnny's first TD was his first drive of the night, a 91 yarder against Atlanta's first string Defense and the dropped TD came against Atlanta's number 2's. BTW the Ravens number 2 defense kept Matty Ice out of the endzone I hope our first stringers will be as good.
well then, awesome. i didnt know it was against the starters.....if thats the case pennington should tear the falcons D apart
The game is gonna be re-played in a couple of hours. I will post an update after watching the game....but it will be HOURS after watching cause the FINS are on immediately afterwards
Okay, FOR THE RECORD. There were indeed MANY 2nd stringers involved...but not for Atlanta. In fact, the only starter not playing was John Abraham. Beck was surrounded by 2nd stringers and his back was indeed Jalen Parmale. He started at his own 9, went through several 3rd and longs, including a 3rd and 10 where ATL threw everybody at him, but he did just fine. He did get a Pass Interference call that was 20 some yards of the drive, but it was a nice pass and couldve gone the distance without the PI. Needless to say, they did score, and he was completely in charge. All this being said, one thing about the ATL that stood out, we oughta be able to KILL their Corners. They are in some serious need of upgrade, and especially our bigger guys should have a field day with them. I expect LOTS of 3 and 4 WR sets next week.
Not to divert the thread but IMO Atlanta's D is a bit of a question mark. They're not horrible or anything but they are clearly weaker relative to their O. I could see us struggling a bit early to stop Turner, Ryan, White and Gonzales. But I do think we should have an advantage against their D.
Im happy for him. I think he was in a bad place at a bad time here, thats all. Im glad he is doing good.
