Same. His heart, soul and blood are all over the Phins field. And I too wish he could retire a Dolphin. Watching him play was a treat, a privilege and a joy.

Hopefully he can become part of the Dolphins organization in some capacity. I hope they do let him retire a dolphin.

Such a good guy and player.
I know if he retires, he feels he needs to. But, I hate the thought of not having Zach in a uni somewhere.
I pray he retires as a Dolphin. Nothing else will be right IMO.

I wish him all the best.

Drew Rosenhaus said he is not retiring about 20 minutes ago. ESPN again comes up with crap they dont look further into.

I really don't put much stock in what Drew says. We might be talking semantics..one says injured waived the other says released or retired.

We should be. We owe it to him. He was our team for so many years here. He deserves to retire as a phin if he would like to.

His team would have to grant him his out right release first in order for the phins to sign him to that one day contract.

But in reality, it is just window dressing, he is a Phin, always was, always will be.

Thanks for the memories Zach, wish you will in retirement.

Do you think this is an injury type settlement deal or just a "planted rumor" put out there by the Chiefs?

I think we could see an injury settlement.

Just me speculating here. But he's been out a few weeks. Corey Mays has had a great camp in his place. And Zach's on a 1-year deal.

That is EXACTLY what I am thinking. I think Zach thinks Chiefs are handling this poorly and Drew wants NO talk of retirement..keeping the door open for still playing.

there's no doubt in my mind that we will sign him to a 1 day contract so he can retire a dolphin if this report is true.

Zach is probably in my top three favorite Dolphins players of all time. So, yeah...I'd love to see him retire as a Dolphin (and added to the Ring of Honor). He definitely deserves it IMO. Bottom line...he got the most out of what the good Lord gave him. And, he made up for the rest with pure effort. Loved his relentless snap to whistle hustle play after play after play. And, I absolutely hated it when he was released. Watching him play for the Cowpokes last year was just weird (for me).

Best of luck in whatever he decides to do. Thanks for the memories Zach.

I can't say anything that hasn't already been said in this thread. I loved watching him play for us and he will always be part of the Dolphins. He gave it everything he had every single snap. Thanks for the memories Zach!

Most intelligent middle linebacker ever to play the game. The rest was work. The ultimate role model for kids. The classic overachiever. What else can I say? His family has money. He didn't have to play. He would probably pay to play. What a consummate football player. How fortunate we were to have him play here. Remember when we brought in Del Rio and cut him at the end of the preseason because Zach was that good as a rookie? Remember the hyperbaric chamber he bought himself so he could overfill his muscles with oxygen so he could recover to go out and hit more people? How many seasons over 100 tackles? The guy is a giant. Ring of honor is not enough. Hall of Fame.

i hope it aint so... Zach Thomas and Randy Couture are my two favorite athletes in ANY sport currently. and both are in their career twilight.

IF this is true, and apparently that is a big if, new management would HAVE to make that happen, and bring Zach in to retire as a Dolphin. it is a no brainer.

with all the attention-and-new-fan-seeking going on with bringing in these celebrity minority stake owners, they have to tip the hat to franchise players like Zach.
