Sparano is being very coy about it. But I'm expecting Roth to be put on the PUP. I do not see them cutting him and I can't see him possessing any trade value at this point.

WR Anthony Armstrong, K Connor Barth and NT Louis Ellis were waived on Saturday, while FB Joe Kowalewski with Roth inactive in whatever capacity. should bring us to 65

I pretty much agree with this article:

Final Miami Dolphins 53-man roster takes shape

    Here's the beef:

I would add some points to that article:

    1) There's a possibility that we go with only 5 WRs on the opening day roster. That would push Brandon London out the door, barring a surprise transaction.

Surprise Possibilities : Greg Camarillo (Cut/Trade), Ted Ginn, jr (Trade)

I'd HATE for Ginn to be traded.

    2) I'm not 100% convinced Nalbone has beaten out Haynos. I'd say it's 50/50.

    3) I'd bet dollars-to-doughnuts that Ireland is shopping Rodrique Wright heavily. It would be nice to get something for a player that probably fits better as a 4-3 DT, and has some good potential. There's also the possibility that if we go with 5 WRs, instead of 6, that Wright is the guy who sticks.

Who would you rather have on the roster? Rod Wright or Brandon London? I'd lean toward London... but, that's just me.

    4) Several people have mentioned the possibility that we pick up a return guy who is cut from another roster. I agree. It's definitely possible, and we definitely need it. That would also push London out the door, and raise the possibility of keeping 6 WRs, unless we can make a trade with Camarillo.

We could even trade London for a returner straight-up, to help two teams avoid the waiver-wire competition. Those kind of trades are pretty rare, though.

    5) Walden is a temp as long as Roth is on the PUP.

Surprise Possibility: Folsom makes the roster as a special-teamer over Walden. Not likely, IMHO. I think Folsom is the quintessential practice squad candidate.

    6) The Phins need a nasty ILB with size. No way draft day ends next year without us drafting two. For whatever it's worth right now...

Here's my guess. I think the last spot comes down to Hilliard, Wright or London. Hilliard gets it over Wright b/c of his STs contributions. London is a possibility b/c he's good as a flyer on STs, but I think they see more future positional potential in Hilliard.

Haynos and Nalbone felt like a toss up. I only put Haynos as making it b/c he's not PS eligible and Nalbone is.

QUARTERBACKS (3): Chad Pennington, Chad Henne, Pat White.

RUNNING BACKS (3): Ronnie Brown, Ricky Williams, Patrick Cobbs, Lex Hilliard

    FULLBACK (1): Lousaka Polite.

WIDE RECEIVERS (6): Ted Ginn Jr., Greg Camarillo, Davone Bess, Brian Hartline, Patrick Turner. Out: Brandon London, James Robinson

TIGHT END (3): Anthony Fasano, David Martin, Joey Haynos. Out: John Nalbone/PS

OFFENSIVE LINE (9): OT Jake Long, OT Vernon Carey, C Jake Grove, G Justin Smiley, G Donald Thomas, G Shawn Murphy, C/G Joe Berger, OT Andrew Gardner, OT/G Brandon Frye. Out: C/G Mark Lewis, OT Nate Garner

DEFENSIVE LINE (7): NT Jason Ferguson, DE Kendall Langford, DE Randy Starks, DE Phillip Merling, NT Paul Soliai, DE Tony McDaniel, DE Lionel Dotson. Out: DE Rodrique Wright, DE Ryan Baker

LINEBACKERS (8): Joey Porter, Jason Taylor, Channing Crowder, Akin Ayodele, Reggie Torbor, Charlie Anderson, Cam Wake, Erik Walden, Quentin Moses. Out: William Kershaw, J.D. Folsom. PUP list: Matt Roth (injured)

CORNERBACKS (5): Will Allen, Sean Smith, Vontae Davis, Nate Jones, Jason Allen. Out: Joey Thomas, Will Billingsley

You number the WRs as 6, but list only 5 as making the roster.

Do any of you think they would cut any of our vets?
They surprise me so much, I never know what to think.

He had (3) RBs counted, and actually had 4 on the roster. It's a typo... I saw the same thing. He's just saying we'll keep 5 WRs and 4 RBs, with Hilliard being the guy that makes it over London and Wright.

It's possible, but I have a hard time seeing Hilliard making the roster. Too bad... I actually like the guy, but he doesn't really bring anything more to the table than what we already have.

He brings no upgrade at all to the RB position, and he's fairly easy to replace on special teams.

    Sorry, Lex.

Charlie Anderson could be a surprise cut. I don't think it's likely, but with our depth at OLB... it's a slight possibility.

I'd be surprised if Ginn is even being considered for a trade... It'd have to be well in our favor for that to happen...he has the one thing that none of the other WRs have and will never have...speed....

I think Hilliard lost his shot against Tampa, but will get 1 more chance with lots of reps against the Saints, IF Tony doesn't decide to play his starters after the dismal Tampa performance.

I totally agree... however, there is one thing sitting in the back of my mind: He wasn't drafted by this regime.

I don't want Ginn to go anywhere. I'm on record very recently stating how I'd hate to see him traded. However, none of us have any real idea what Sparano, Ireland, and Parcells exactly think about him, and they are the guys making the deals.

    There is always that doubt.

they 'could' do something like trade Ginn to DEN for Marshall ... not likely, and not an even trade ... but anything is possible. Or package Ginn and Cam ...

Otherwise, agrees with the players on the bubble ....

Hilliard, London, Wright, Nalbone, Moses ...

This regime will look at both this year and the future with guys like Hilliard and Nalbone ... 2 positions of need next year ...

    Wright is a goner, i think ...
London has to rely on STs and a move in the WR corps ... which is possible
Nalbone and Haynos could both be spared by trading Martin ... but, if Haynos and Nalbone are neck and neck .... i would bet Nalbone gets the nod ... but my money says the FO wants to keep both
Hilliard will have to prove some ST worth ... and some solid potential as a #2 next year ...

The last guy on my list is Moses ... has he shown enough spotting for Roth ... i haven't been able to see any of the games ... so can't say from my own observations ...

the rest are fairly obvious, and consistent ....

IMO i believe Sparano has cut guys down early to give them a chance to stick with another team (classy organization, which allows us to recruit players later).
With this in mind and being down to 66 players, i believe all are vets are here for the season. We havent heard anything negative and believe he would allow them to move on just like the scrubs if he didnt see a fit with the team(unless he felt the Pats might take em lol).

    JMO

Edit: Roth is a wildcard all most forgot about that crazy situation

It sounds like Darling of the Chiefs might be out for the season. And Gaffney of the Broncos has a broken thumb. Think either would be interested in London? Cammy?

Camarillo, yes. London, no. London may not make the final cut, so they can scoop him up if they want to instead of trading for him. Camarillo can be a solid receiver for the Chiefs, so they might want to trade for him. I would hate to trade him though.

    18 C Jake Grove
    19 RG Donald Thomas
    20 RT Vernon Carey
    21 OG/C Joe Berger
    22 OG Shawn Murphy
    23 OT Andrew Gardner

    24 NT Jason Ferguson
    25 NT Paul Soliai
    26 DE Kendall Langford
    27 DE Phillip Merling
    28 DE Randy Starks
    29 DE Tony McDaniel
    30 DE Lionel Dotson
    31 ILB Akin Ayodele
    32 ILB Channing Crowder
    33 ILB Reggie Torbor
    34 OLB Joey Porter
    35 OLB Jason Taylor
    36 OLB Cameron Wake
    37 OLB Erik Walden
    38 CB Will Allen
    39 CB Sean Smith
    40 CB Vontae Davis
    41 CB Jason Allen
    42 CB Nathan Jones
    43 S Yeremiah Bell
    44 S Gibril Wilson
    45 S Tyrone Culver
    46 S Chris Clemons

    47 P Brandon Fields
    48 K Dan Carpenter
    49 LS John Denney

That leaves 4 spots and 17 players

    1 - TE Joey Haynos
    2 - TE John Nalbone
    3 - WR Brandon London
    4 - WR James Robinson
    5 - OT Brandon Frye
    6 - OT Nate Garner
    7 - OG Mark Lewis
    8 - DE Rod Wright
    9 - DE Ryan Baker
    10 - OLB Charlie Anderson
    11 - OLB Quentin Moses

    12 - OLB Matt Roth
    13 - ILB J.D. Folsom
    14 - ILB William Kershaw
    15 - CB Will Billingsly
    16 - CB Joey Thomas
    17 - S Courtney Bryan

Robinson, Lewis, Baker, Billingsly, Thomas, and Bryan don't have a realistic shot of making the 53. Roth seems destined for the PUP so that leaves 10 players and 5 battles.

1 - Haynos vs Nalbone. Unless Haynos really screws up he should make it and Nalbone will go on the practice squad.

2 - Anderson vs Moses. I believe both will stick. At least until one of them is replaced by a waiver wire pickup or Matt Roth if we can't trade him.

3 - Frye vs Garner. Could go either way. Neither is safe even if they make the final cut on September 5th.

4 - Folsom vs Kershaw. I haven't seen enough from Folsom on special teams to make me believe he would stick. However I've only seen the games and not practice. Kershaw has an outside chance. Long odds for both.

5 - London vs Wright - Honestly I don't believe either of them are going to make it.

My money is on Haynos, Anderson, and Moses. Garner or Frye will stick only to be replaced by a waiver wire pickup.

    Practice Squad
    1 - TE John Nalbone
2 - WR James Robinson (if he is eligible)
    3 - OG Mark Lewis
    4 - DE Ryan Baker
    5 - ILB J.D. Folsom

Three maybe four spots available on the PS and I don't believe any of those positions will be filled by guys who are currently on our team right now.

True that, Larry...I just don't think we give up the closest thing to a #1 WR we have without getting a bona fide #1 in return...It could be a Brandon Marshall or some other malcontent that wants a bigger contract, but not for just a draft pick or so would they give him up...
