I tip my hat to the guy. to be honest, he had a good career, winning three S/B's. came back from a stroke, maybe its just time to move on. I wish teddy nothing but the best.
I thought he was another one in patriot's roster full of dirty players. That said, I always looked at him as Zach Thomas's contemporary and I'm glad Zach has stuck around in the NFL longer than Bruschi has.
Here's a link to an announcement for an "Important Press Conference on Monday" http://twitter.com/realpatriots/status/3657234323 It's speculative at best at this point, but this is probably what it's about.
It's clear from watching the Pats/Skins game that Bruschi was done. He was beaten badly in coverage and was behind the play the entire time he was in the game. I'm sure the Pats gave him the chance to retire instead of releasing him, which is a classy move.
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Tedy Bruschi retired Monday after a 13-year NFL career in which he won three Super Bowl titles with the New England Patriots and made a gallant return from a stroke. The inside linebacker played for no other team and leaves football with only one unachieved goal — a fourth championship. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...n-patriots-bruschi-retirement,0,7404867.story
ted has been a little behind since this stoke. its remarkable he came back and played at the level he did, which was still alittle behind what we are used to. he had a nose for plays and the ball, and when you lose a half step or two, knowing whats going to happen isnt good enough belichick gives his players the opportunuty to go out in style, whether or not the they take it is another thing--think troy brown, he played all of one down his final year, belichick pretty much wasted to spot for him, showing troy the respect he deserved
