So I have this lamp, but it doesn't have a lamp shade, and I need to find a replacement for it. It's a floor lamp that requires an upside down shade. Here's some pictures: Lamp - No Shade Lamp - No Shade Angle 2 This is the type of shade I need I don't really know where to start, don't know much about the lamp shade industry but all I can seem to find are different styles of shades. Next Question I have a couple things that I want to put on the walls of my dorm room, but I'm not really sure how I'm gonna do it. I have this big O.A.R. banner/towel type of thing that I'd love to put on the wall. We can't make holes, so I'm not sure how I can hang it. I don't want to damage the banner at all. I also have a framed poster that I want to put up, but the same problem applies here. Here is the back of the poster. Thanks for any help guys!
I know what its like to be a poor college student. So in all seriousness, put the holes in the walls then cover them with tooth paste. The paste kind not the gel kind. Its like poor mans caulk. Or you could buy sticky caulk like stuff to put on the back. I don't know what its called, but it basically looks like chewed up gum and sticks pretty well. I've seen it in both blue and yellow. Go to a craft store, describe the stuff, someone can help you out. As far as the shade goes, discount stores like target may sell them. If not, just buy a new lamp. I bought a very similar lamp from target for about 20.00. The shade is made of plastic, so unless you lose it, nothing will happen to it.
Ikea. You can get a lamp for $3.99 at Ikea if you're not especially picky...and they're not bad-looking.
Use poster adhesives... you can find them at office supply stores or maybe even target. I have the same issue in my dorm and these things won't take the paint off the walls so you have nothing to worry about
I actually found the lamp by the trash (yeah, yeah ) and it's pretty nice. I have another lamp, so I don't want to buy a whole new one but it would be nice to have two, that's why I'm looking for just a shade. There has to be somewhere online to buy something that would work, otherwise I might try making one. For the poster, I don't know if sticky tack would hold it up, although it might. I can't use that on the banner though, it will stick to the banner when I take it off. I tried that with a blanket last year. I also don't think I'll be able to even put a hole in the wall, they were concrete last year if I recall correctly (haven't seen my room yet this year). I don't think any IKEA's are close to me.
If you want to hang something up just drill a damn hole in the wall then cover it up with some spackle at the end of the year. Thats what I did in college when I was hanging a disco ball from the ceiling and a traffic light on the wall
I don't know what it's called but have you noticed that clear stuff that they us to close brochures you get in the mail? It feels like a soft plastic. Its sticky but removable. Just an idea.
