Per 'Nando, but it is no surprise they are going to split time among the remaininng Cb's, and Joey Thomas apparently stepped up today. http://miamiherald.typepad.com/dolphins_in_depth/ BTW, Joey Thomas is an ex CFLer.
That has to be good news for the CBs still on the roster. I would think that W. Allen, Smith and Davis are locks. Nate Jones is very likely. Then it looks like J. Allen and Joey Thomas are battling for one or two spots. And I think J. Allen has a slight edge currently due to his ability to play S and on STs.
bryant(sp) also had a great play in the endzone on monday night so this gives a little more oppurtunity to see if he and the others can do it consistantly.not much practice time left so they will have to show it in the game if they want to stick around now and green could not do that.
I think Sparano was being his usual self in not wanting to be too critical of players to the media. I think he just leaves that up to the media to rip on players.
He was also a former 2nd or 3rd round pick of the Packers a few years ago...I believe the same year they took ahmad carroll and tried to load up on CB's to play vs Moss
Yep, another CFLer...I thought they were mostly third rate athletic rejects up in that league? Not a bad player, it would be odd if our secondary was basically the same only with the addition of Clemmons and Davis and White.
Great move, motivates the players left, gets them more reps, keeps us getting younger. And frankly from what I saw in the Jags game, Green sucked. I would like to see Jason Allen step it up this year, we have so much invested in h9m, so much speed and raw talent, if he could just get the mental part of it down I think he could be a really good nickel back. And I agree with DJ, what the heck is going on with Matt Roth, and why aren't we being told squat?
My guess is he got himself an STD. Didn't he say he had problems in his groin area. I think he has a case of the Bullhead. I don't blame him for not wanting to discuss his problem.
Unless somebody struggles big time, I dont see a need to bring anybody else in. let the players grow, mature. Like Sparano said, there will be some "growing pains" but thats just the part of the game. Hopefully most of it will happen during preseason, so that they would be ready for the reg season.
Well, our secondary is set up to allow us to go either way, if Sean Smith and Vontae Davis struggle we still have Thomas and Jones as hedges. the 2x2 strategy again, either way we will have at least competent Db's but it would be better if Davis and Smith play at a high level right out of the gate.
It would be better if the pass rush play at a high level right out of the gate. The secondary will feed off the pass rush, IMO. A great pass rush will allow us to get by with rookies and ex CFLers in the secondary.
