http://blogs.palmbeachpost.com/thed...preseason-huge-for-special-teams-improvement/ Exactly, our Special Teams units played badly last season, we were playing mediocre teams and could make up for it, but this year we do not have that luxury. Tonight the ST unit is probably the one that will have the most attention as it regressed last season from poor to terrible, we had the weakest Special Teams unit by far in the AFC East last season.
Our special teams, other than some penalties returning were really good. We didnt give up any big plays
Relax FF...C Williams is going to bust a Td on a return...maybe even 3 TD's on returns this preseason... Listen to Sparano's presser: http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/aquavision/aquavision.asp
I am with ya Paddy...he did not exactly have huge lanes to run through...he basically ran through the lanes faster than they could be closed..........quick, good COD, and fast.........
Yeah he is explosive and I did like how he bounced back from those mistakes, every return was better than the last.
I'm happy he got a shot my2 centavos, the preseason is tailor made for cats like Williams...but man...ball in hand...heading to the house.. His later returns he did take two steps in the "wrong" direction..
Chris Williams made two huge mistakes. It scares me anytime a KR can't cleanly catch a ball and tonight that happened twice. He also made an error while fielding the punt inside the 10 and backing up. That type of stuff should never happen. Great returns all night except for the above mentioned. Also a problem with keeping him means that it will probably mean the end of the line for Brandon London is a good for special teams. Did not see much of him tonight.
I dont care what sparano says. Im not just going to forget that Ginn is our best KR. i know and understand why hes not returning kicks, but id like to believe that in crucial situations, Ginn will be returning the kicks when the games close in the 4th qtr.
need to be huge on Special Teams last year was horrendous: #30 got to get it together using the best available to fit the scheme everyone should be ready to play need to be huge on Special Teams
Well it is not "Ginn must return kicks" per se, it's more "if Ginn isn't returning kicks, then find somone who can do it as well, if not better than Ted Ginn.." You cannot say "ST must improve" and then not let Bonamego have some talent for the unit, that is like a builder trying to build a house with no hammers.."Build that home, but you cannot use any tools"..
return the kicks that was the promise no one can do it better than him Run GinnJr. Run, then Run some more on SpecialTeams! good field positon wins games
I think it depends on whether he learns from them... Everyone muffs a punt once in a while, if he makes a habit of it.. then it's a problem. The going backwards issue, hopefully that's the only time we'll see that again... I'm sure he got his *** chewed for it...
As long as he can remember: 1. Let the ball go inside the 10. 2. Do not run sideways/backwards after catching the ball. 3. Do not catch the ball inside the 10 and then run sideways/backwards after catching the ball.
St's is unfortunately going to be the least likely to improve during the preseason. Until the roster is set, Bonamego won't even know his full ST's roster. I expect them to improve over last year though, because there should be less "churning" of the bottom of the roster, because we have far more talent this season, hence less turnover at the bottom.
