This is some bad news, Merling is easily our most athletic all around defensive lineman his lack of performance means Lionel Dotson has to perform in order to see any sort of pass rush from our base 3-4 defensive linemen.

Well it said "heavy rotation". I am fine with a heavy rotation it keeps the legs fresh.

Think about it anlgp, the Bills will run the no huddle making rotation impossible without using either a timeout or a stoppage to bring fresh legs into the game.

We should run the no huddle too. Especially in the heat.

Well, we won last season by controlling the clock, we simply kept the ball away from our opponents in the last 5 minutes and won the game, the no huddle is sort of the opposite of that strategy.

I really don't see that lasting to long. For the no huddle to work you need a P. Manning type quarterback. One that can make quick reads and sound decisions. Does that sound like Trent Edwards? I think not, JMO.

That's only 2 games the whole season. And who knows if they are still doing it by the time they play us

According to Bills players themselves they have not practiced the normal huddle up offense.

I would think all the young guns would be putting more effort in to tc because they see Jason Taylor leaveing everything out there on the field.

While Edwards is not Manning, I would not underestimate him at this point. Until he gets injured, which he will behind that line, he could be a premiere QB this season.

I don't see any team coming into south Florida with the idea that they are gonna run hurry up on us. It's gonna be hot as hell on October 4th when Buffalo comes to town. If they want to have any gas left in the 4th quarter, they shouldn't run hurry up in the first 3 quarters.

I don't have a problem with Starks being on the field. And there's still a possibility of Holliday rejoining the team. It's way too early to be hitting any panic buttons.

2 games can be the difference between golfing and being in the playoffs.

When you have the worst OL in the league, you should try running the no huddle.

That's what I was thinking, I would honestly be MUCH more worried about thr Patsies running the NH

Another adverse affect that tends to come from the Hurry up is it tends to leave their defense on the field longer as well.

I think the fact that Merling is looking least affective at this point might be a blessing, as I think he can catch up to the others that ARE looking good. We could effectively start looking much like the Gints team thatwent all the way recently

Theres still plenty of time for merling to get his act together..maybe it only takes for him to realize hes gonna be riding the pine and then he will step it up

I agree. If we're pounding the defense with our running game, that's going to wear them down more so than the hurry up.

The Titans rotated their DL during the no huddle in the HOF game. Teams do it all the time. It's not impossible.

Disappointed, but not surprised. Seems like that aside from the NYJ finale, he was invisible all last season, despite his lofty draft status. There was talk last year about Merling being more of a gamer than a practice field player.

I haven't heard about Holliday possibly rejoining. Has this been talked about by the team or is it just a gut feeling?

dont buy it. earlier reports had him looking improved year to year and he was fine last year playing with a hernia. i think this is typical parcells motivational stuff. same with vontae davis

    Vontae Davis to Adamp?

It must be a blue and orange thing...

To me Merling's talent level is so high that Sparano and Co won't allow him to be just "okay" and I tend to agree with them, Merling should be Leonard Marshal Jr. not just another Camp Body/run plugger.

yeah thats how i read it too. they arent satisfied with where he is but his ceiling is so high that that doesnt mean he isnt playing well.

With Vontae Davis, my bet is he's getting caught being too aggressive, kinda like a QB who throws too many picks, you need to make sure he plays smart as well as aggressive before you feel comfortable with him

I still think he should be playing linebacker. I dont' understand why they packed on so much weight on him. He's probably pushing 300 I'd say or at least looked like it in the season finale. He's got a good first step though and I don't know about him playing end. I'm still not comfortable with it. He should be in a two point stance.

thats what i thought too. Ideally he's a 4-3 end but if they feel he can be a 3-4 end I'll trust their judgement. I thpought his speed would be better suited for OLB too however
