Kind of sad that his nickname used to be "superman" but I love it. Though I never blame players for being bad, just the managers for going to them repeatedly.
We have to lose to Washington eventually.....buuuut tonight should not be that night. Josh Johnson on the hill should always equal a win.
that's really good news. i remember reading about him around 2004ish and then again in 2005 or 2006ish. he had so many relapses. i'm glad to see he's doing good.
Did we just get swept by the Nats or is there a major error in the standings on every sports site out there?
the miami herald is saying it was a spot start and he's back in single a. he allowed two runs over five innings.
Arghhhh tough 3-2 loss to the Fish......Nolasco looked like Cy Young against us. He made Howard look really bad, of course Howard is either home run or strike out as of late. Cole Hamels going tonight....good luck.
Nolasco has that kind of nasty stuff. Since he went to the minors he's like 6-2with a 2.58 ERA in 12 starts. Anyway Sean West has more velocity than he did his first time around. I dont know why....he used to throw this hard before he had arm issues. Now its back suddenly.
Hamels looked like crap again....11 men left on base by the Phillies. They look like they just don't care about winning when they play at home....maybe getting swept will wake them up? We had Sanches on the Phillies a few years back when he was horrible, now he looks great for the Marlins. Ohhh well, good thing football is starting back up.
Getting swept by the Nats is REALLY hurting right now. The good news is we seem to be on a roll again. We need to learn how to limit that type of damage though. You want to win every series but you cant afford to be swept. At least take one. Hopefully we can hold this lead the next 3 innings.
That surprises you, he's looked like crap all year. Impressive sweep by the Marlins, so much for Philly coasting to another division title.
By the way I really like Bonifacio batting 8th now when he plays. It's the perfect slot for him. He has a good eye until he gets behind in the count, with the pitcher on deck it allows him to be more selective and with two outs he isnt afraid to go out of the zone.
We're letting everyone back in it....it is a good thing though as it makes the team stronger for playoff baseball.
We won a game we really shouldn't have last night. Well I take that back because we worked hard for that win, but what I mean is you can't expect to climb back like that every night. As of this post we're 2.0 out of the wildcard and 3.5 (I think) out of the division. We have a GREAT chance to make some noise.
Did you guys know that in every month except may we have a winning percentage of over .580 and twice over .600? We were 11 games below .500 in May, without that month we are the runaway divison leaders. I just thought that was interesting.
Very true but without April you guys would be like my team the mets and be desperately counting down the days till football. I wish all the luck to your team though if someone is going to dethrone the phils I hope its u guys...
I'm not so sure if thats true. If you take out May and April (best and worst months) we're in pretty much the exact same spot. You are right though if you keep May and take away April obviously we would be screwed. Thanks for the support though.
Great win tonight. Two back of the WC slot with two left against the WC leaders! What more could you ask for?
Just got back from the game. What a blast! My dad had a blast too and we will be back this season! We get there, like 15 minutes before first pitch, and I go with my vouchers to the ticket office, and get offered Outfield Reserve Tickets like the voucher said. Its fine with me since I like those seats, but the lady keeps trying and trying, cursing and cursing, and she cant get the tickets. After 20 minutes, she finds out I dont know how that the code on the voucher was for Bullpen tickets so we ended up sitting 3 rows behind the bullpen. A FUN experience. I found out another reason why we need a new ballpark though. In this square football stadium, these seats are facing left field, instead of home plate, so if ONE person stands up between you and home plate, you cant see snap. I found this out today since its the first time I sit somewhere outside right field or behind home plate. The game.......meh. We had like 15 hits. ALL of them base hits. They had 8. We scored 3 runs. They scored 7. The reason? The changed lineup because of the doubleheader and the home plate and first base umpires. We couldnt get a damn call tonight. EVERY borderline call went the Rockie's way. Every check swing, every safe or out call, every EVERYTHING. And we couldnt execute either. Cantu and Hanley disappointed me some at bats. Rick didnt give up too many hits, but the ones he did, we're crucial. The atmosphere at the game was great though. Especially the 7th and 8th innings. The wave got started in right field, kept going until the "rich seats" and then re started again, we scored a couple of runs, could've scored a ton more, but the stadium was LOOOOOOOOUD. Especially the areas around me. EVERYONE with rally caps, everyone yelling through whole at bats. It was awesome. And its a sign for things to come. Now, I just have to wait for more vouchers to make it back out there as I am a cheap ***. And hopefully we sweep the Astros next week.
I dont know if you could see it from your seat, but Hanley was SAFE on that wild pitch with the bases loaded. The throw beat him to the plate, but the catcher missed the tag on his foot and put it on his shoulder AFTER his foot touched home. Just another call to add to that. We got really screwed game 2.
