nice read indeed, and a good comparison of two of the top defensive players in the draft. I think I'd take long over gholston if were going defensive though with the #1 pick.
Good read really liked the comparison of the two I think we should draft Chris Long instead of drafting Verno Gholston. But if we were to trade down I would love to pick Verno Gholston up. At the combine they said he was a work out freak
I've seen Vernon Gholston put his hand down and play DE. I've also seen him pick his hand up and be an OLB who can cover or rush. I'm yet to see Chris Long do both. He stated that he couldn't play 3-4 DE in the NFL and he didn't play LB in college. Gholston can do both very well. We've seen it. His versatility sells him! Vernon Gholston for me!
Since I haven't watched him extensively, I'll defer but I believe someone else in another thread said Long played extensively with his hand on the ground and standing up in Virginia, since Groh is one of the few coaches in college that run the 3-4.
