I never compared Turner to Fitzgerald guys, I said "lets hope he keeps it up and turns into the next Larry Fitzgerald". That's only stating what I hope he COULD become, not comparing him in any way. As excited as I am about what I think we may have in Turner, he's a rookie and hasn't caught a single pass in the NFL. I'm not COMPARING him to anybody, yet.

An interesting info bit from the Draft:

I was in the camp that wanted Barden over Turner as Turner was seen as an underachiever at USC, but the Giants traded up to take Bardin who is having issues at the line of scrimmage, something that has not been whispered about Pat Turner..

Sometimes the guy you don't get is the best move to have been made.

I felt that was a huge issue with Barden, which is one of the reasons I didn't want him here. This is what I had on him from my view of him on tape.

    Derek Hagan?

At least he caught a few passes here and there.

What about Derrius Thompson? Now THAT was a TC HOFer but a game day turkey.

I remember Turner playing at the Senor Bowl, he came into the process late (iirc) and made a couple of nice over the middle catches inside the 40 yd line but the announcers were downplaying him and his scouting report had the dreaded "underachiever" label more or less so I thought he would be a 5th/6th rd pick.

I liked him, but three catches is a tough way to decide whether or not a guy is worth a low pick on draft day.

    Thats true bro

You know what though....I think I remember Shannon getting everyone's hopes up during a pre-season game or 2 I cant remember exactly.

Were as Thompson man that dude disappeared all the time.

Did he even show up to play during the scrimmages against the Titans back then or was he a ghost there as well?

If you guys saw USC vs OSU you would see Turner dominate Malcolm Jenkins (now with the Saints).

I think Turner was the guy all along. Barden could have been the plan B. Ireland wanted a productive guy from high school and into college. Turner fit that description well.

Turner was labelled an underachiever but he had to play behind Dwayne Jarret and Steve Smith, then behind Mike Williams. Then Williams went pro and went bust, then the scouts got scared of Turner. I thought that was unfair. Turner didn't produce as expected for his senior year but Sanchez started that only one year. It just wasn't the greatest of circumstances.

And from Day 5....The Hits Keep On Coming! GIDDY UP!!!!

Omar Kelly "When I went back to watching the ball I witnessed Patrick Turner smoke Eric Green and Gibril Wilson on a 30-yard sideline catch that was a work of art. Two things I'll say about Turner, the team's third-round pick: he's SUPER smooth, and catches EVERYTHING. I haven't seen one drop yet. I'm starting to buy the hype, but I'm not fully vested yet."

And here is more good news from the afternoon session as reported by Omar Kelly:

"Each session at camp outside linebacker Cameron Wake, and rookie receiver Patrick Turner are improving.

Turner's starting to dominate one-on-ones daily to the point he's making plays on Mr. Lock down, Will Allen. Some of them are extremely acrobatic, which indicates that he's got tremendous body control.

For the third straight day Turner turned in a few nice catches. He's silky with his route running, and has clutch hands. His body control allows him to tight rope the sideline, and bring in catches in the back of the end zone."

    GIDDY UP!!!!

Larry Shannon was the guy JJ told us would make us forget about passing on Randy Moss....

Both Yatil Green and Larry Shannon blew out their knees. I do not believe that Larry Shannon every played a down.

I looked it up, he tore his ACL in the first practice.

Turner has accomplished more in a week of training camp than former USC guys Mike Williams and Dwayne Jarrett have in their careers combined.

How about Patrick "The Hat Trick" Turner... because third time is a charm!

    Height advantage....WOW.

This is just a pic with fellow WR's (Williams & Armstrong). Imagine this next to your avg 6 foot tall CB along the sideline or on a fade route in the endzone. Turner is the tall tree in the flower garden.

His first catch he let the ball get into his body; in fact, it hit him pad-high, making it an even proposition to bounce off as be caught.

Then later he rounded off a route and almost got Thigpen picked.

For a guy with route problems and trouble catching the ball, I'd say that he still doesn't get it.

The Bucs play alot of zone if Turner can get open versus a good man scheme.

    Good game.

No, I don't think he rounded off the route at all. He is 6'4 so it looks kind of awkward when he runs the routes. BUT, he did a double move corner post route and did it efficiently. He attacked the inside shoulder of the DB, went 12-15 yards upfield, sunk his hips and threw his head while planting his right foot and exploding outside, then sunk his hips again, planted his left foot and threw his head while turning back inside causing separation from the DB and getting open. Thigpen just threw the ball badly behind Turner.

While he looked better and made some catches, he still needs work. He did look awkward running the route in question but he still needs to be more crisp. I don't care if he's 6-4 or not. I really hope he comes on because with his size there is much potential.

And yes, Thigpen missed him, not Turners fault.

He rounded off the route big time, even Nat Moore and Griese were all over him about it.

That being said, at least he showed up some tonight.

At least he did well on the shallow cross when he linked up with Thigpen. Did a good job of getting behind the linebackers of Tampa. That's a route Larry Fitzgerald runs non-stop in Arizona.

The one thing about Turner that has not changed is he doesn't always play under control, it may have been the turf, but even on the 30 yd reception, he stumbled after catching the ball.

If one watches his USC highlight film, you can see the same thing.

He did not round off his route.
