How much does Pennington play in the pre-season? Maybe a couple series each of the 4 games? Or maybe just a couple series for the last 2 games?

I would be happy with a half, let him play a half in game 3 and call it done.

Penny has had two seasons ruined with preseason injuries, once he broke his wrist, the other he tore ligaments in his ankle.

Part of the myth of penny being injury prone came from those two injuries.

He tore ligaments in his ankle Week 1 against the Patriots in the 2007, not in the Preseason.

But you are right about his broken left wrist in the 2003 Preseason game against the Giants.

Anyway's, here is what Chad usually did in New York:

    Game 1: 1 or 2 drives
    Game 2: 3 drives
    Game 3: 1st half + 2 drives
    Game 4: Didn't play

Whoa. I just re-read your post and saw this. Myth? Are you kidding me? Myth?

How it is a myth when the guy has been hurt 4 times in his NFL career since coming off the bench Week 5 in 2002?

    2003 - Broken wrist, 6 games
    2004 - Torn Rotator Cuff, 3 games
    2005 - Torn Rotator Cuff, 13 games
    2007 - Torn Ankle Ligaments, 1 game

He also hurt his shoulder in 2001 in a friendly throwing competition against Testaverde in Camp.

I love Chad, but it is no myth. He is injury prone.

    Myth? :pointlol:

What exactly constitutes "injury prone" if not Chad Pennington's career?

Pennington is to football, what Kenny is to Southpark.

He broke his wrist in a preseason game, and the shoulder injuries were conjoined, as in he never fully recovered in the first place because he was trying to take that loser of a Jets franchise to the super bowl and playing on a bum shoulder.

    Since 07...what injuries?

Hmm... methinks I know a certain dolphins fan who does not have Chad Pennington's health in the preseason at the top of their "priorities"list..

Wasn't fully recovered? Are you joking me? Do you truly believe that crap that the media spews out? He was recovered enough to play. Was his arm strength 100%? No, and guess what? It never will be what it once was in 2002. An injury is an injury.

Since 07? Wow. He played one year without an injury. Amazing. He did it in 2002 and 2006 as well, although in 2002 he only had 12 starts. You make it sound like 2007 was 5 years ago when it was one.

P.S. Everytime I see a Miami fan trying to make the same lame *** excuses that Jet fans used to make, MYSELF INCLUDED, I always chuckle for a good 2, 3 minutes. This is fun.

No, not really. By his 73rd injury in 2005, 80% of Jet fans were sick of him and thought it was time to move foward. Not everyone felt Kellen Clemens was the one, but the majority of Jet fans felt it was time to move foward. When Chad signed with Miami, we all laughed.

Well, he's the one laughing now, that's for sure. At least for now. We'll see what 2009 and beyond brings.

If successful you mean his completion % numbers are great, yeah.

If you mean record as a starting QB/playoff record, then, no.

Don't forget, before he became your QB he was mine for 6 years (although with the amount of games played, more like 4).

Why do I care? Just because Brett Favre got hurt doesn't mean I'm going to stop talking about football and other Quarterback's in the NFL. It doesn't mean I'm any less knowledgeable about the league because the Jets Quarterback got hurt and threw 9 Interceptions in 5 games.

It was a risk worth taking and Lord Chadwick wouldn't have sniffed 9 games with us last season. He was done in New York. He needed a change to have a chance at being successful again and Miami is his change.

That would be "no" I'm not joking on you, one acts as if Penny was healthy enough to walk on the field, then everything should have been fine.

Which of course ignores the fact his shoulder was not healed, and he played anyway, which of course he receives no credit from Jets fans for doing.

    >insert comment about liquid at bottom of dumpster< here.

And lo and behold, the Jets won games, what I find odd is the reason for dumping Penny and hiring Favre was "he will never take us to the super bowl" which is odd, as the Jets haven't been to a Super Bowl in 40 years, Favre flammed out, now it's the magical fat boy and his 16 game starter who will do the job?

Nice, when Penny plays 16 games, his team makes the playoffs, Sanchez has only played in 16 games...in college...

Mighty tall talk for a fan of team that has not made the Super Bowl in 40yrs, so do tell, who do you have to ask "remember when the Jets made the Super Bowl"? 40 yrs would put that in Grandfather country wouldn't it?

Brother I think you are missing my point. It doesn't have anything to do with knowledge, just from a stand point of banging on other QB's especially in the AFC East until the Farve experiment dies down or Sanchez has some good things happen for your team.

Wow. So basically through all of your spewing all you've got is that the New York Jets havn't played in a Super Bowl in 40 years. Wow. That's awesome. As is if playing in a Super Bowl actually matters. No, winning it does.

Last I checked the Jets havn't won a Super Bowl in 40 years. Miami has not won one in what? 36 years? So basically both franchises havn't won a Super Bowl in DECADES

Who ****ing cares that the Jets havn't been there in 40 years? You don't see me saying "Oh well Miami hasn't won in 36 years or been there in 25 years", do you? No, because it doesn't mean **** because its been so god damn long since either team has been there, it is irrelevant.

And yes, in the 3 seasons Chad Pennington did not get injured, he led the Jets and Dolphins to the postseason. And twice he had horrible Wild Card game performances and the other time he waited until the Divisional Round to **** the bed.

    Happy?

No need to call members out bro. I think you had Chad at a time in his career where is role and experience are different then what it is now with the Dolphins. Maybe we are using him in better scenarios then the Jets did when they had him.

I think it was more a change of scenery was needed for ol' James Chadwick Pennington. His time had come here. The fans and the media, the majority at least, had turned on him.

I'm happy he's having success. I just wish it wouldn't amount to as many wins.

At least we have made a couple of SB's in the interval, something the Jets have not managed to do?

Whatever it is the Jets Franchise has been doing, it hasn't been working.

I care, because now I can needle Jets fans with it...:tongue2:

Well, objectively two of those teams were "worst to first" types of squads, the 06 Jets and 08 Phins were not exactly the 49ers circa 1988, they were both severly flawed squads.

BTW, as odd as it sounds, imho the Jets will regret cutting Mangini lose, he was alot of things but he did win games for a franchise that needed consistency (imho).

Nah, just preseason jawing, that's all, I honestly believe the "best" Pennington can do for us is lead us to the AFC Championship Game, he is a winner and I thank the Jets for cutting him loose, but he is what he is, unless he has a strong supporting cast like a dominant defense or a lights out running game the AFC Championship game is his ceiling (once again, IMHO)

I just find it odd that Jets fans are so counter driven and never seem to ask themselves "why isn't this working"?

    :dunno:

Nah, my position is Penny's "injury prone" label came about from his shoulder woes 4 yrs ago, since then he's been alright, in 07 he never really recovered from the ankle injury and the poor play of the Jets.

When we went 1-15, the Jets had the #6 pick, and two of those wins came against us....
