I really loved, and i mean loved the fact that ross listened to our fans about 1 oclock games and moved them to four oclock..

THIS IS AWESOME NEWS for me and i'll tell ya why...Because there is a different vibe in our stadium at 4 oclock, for these reasons.

People are not dehydrating or miserable because of the heat, SO THEY CHEER LOUDER AND HAVE MORE ENERGY. great for our players.

without question, more people are in their seats for 4 oclock games..more pople in their seats before kickoff results in MORE ELECTRICITY IN THE STADIUM, which is GREAT for our players to see.

Theres something about the 2nd half when the sun is going down in miami, ive been to dozens of 4 oclock games and have thought about this for decades {and i dont care about the whole other teams fade in our 1 oclock sun}...its just a SO much better vibe for the energy of the stadium, people are not battling the elements, and they have the energy to scream their asses off. ive seen it and felt it.

Totally made my day...i promise guys, its the closest thing to a homefield advantage were gonna get in that stadium

it also helps us that live further way. instead of getting up at 7 o clock in the morning, i can get up at 9 and get there well before the game.

I don't know what fans you mean.. we have an advantage at 1 oclock that doesn't exist at 4.. it he changed it for the fans, he's stupid.

You South Florida guys are spoiled, and you don't even know it. Compared to George Plaster here in Nashville (who many consider 'THE' Middle-Tennessee sports writer), Omar Kelly is an Uber-Genius.

    You're lucky.

    I agree.

I want every game to be Sunday at 1. Let the opposing team melt and we will own the 4th quarter.

Selfishly, since I can't afford to go to the games, I would really prefer we kept the 1:00pm heat advantage. I don't think home field is as big an advantage in the NFL these days as it used to be anyway. Especially down here where we have more Jets & Pats fans at our games than Fin fans, or so it seems.

not sure if your talkin to me but its not as UNcomfortable from 4 to 7 as it is from 1 to 4. much much better for the energy in the stadium to start games at 4.

Buffalo, Green Bay, Chicago...all those teams have advantages late in the season because of cold.
We have sun. Its only during first half or so. So why not use it? Play during the hottest time of the day, imo.

I think what everyone is trying to say is that if it also makes it much more comfortable for the opposition to play from 4-7, then screw the fans, no offense. A true fan, IMO, cares more about what advantage is afforded our team than his/her own comfort. And I know you are a true fan, I'm just not sure you've thought this whole thing through. Do you think the higher energy level makes up for the loss of the competetive advantage? Not trying to be a jerk, I'm actually wondering. Unfortunately I only get to away games, so can't comment on the matter.

iam looking at this from a energy in the stadium standpoint, i totally understand where your coming from in terms of 1 oclock games being difficult for our opponents, however, i dont feel that the games being at 4 substantially changes that advantage, but i know it does for the fans. As a crowd, were much more into the game at 4 oclock start times, theres a different feel, theres more fans in their seats come kickoff, I know it may sound crazy, but its without question, more electric imo.

I remember being at the orange bowl and we loved 4 oclock start times, i cant explain it Marty, its just something ive thought and noticed for the past 25 years.

Four o clock start times suck, cause I have to leave my house by 6 on Sunday nights. Absolutely ridiculous to change the time, imo.

Yepper. It's all about HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE.Ours is Sep-Oct (1:00) games.
Seems funny that all those years we played New England at 4pm at the end of December in Foxboro.....Or when we played all those games back in the 90's in December in Buffa-low.The NFL(or whomever) didn't change those games to suit OUR needs.......I would have prefered to play in a Dome in those games TBH.

There's a reason we owned the best homefield September record in the league for decades.

The Heat. (and I don;t mean the NBA team).

Those fans better be damned loud if they're gonna make up for that.

This is the first football decision that I disagree with, pushing back the start times will merely cut our opponents a break from the heat.

I understand the fact Ross has to sell tickets, "but" they sell pretty well when you have a winning team as well.

Yeah. The other teams melting in the fourth quarter in September. It's good for at least one win. I don't know what he was thinking. How long has he been watching the Dolphins?

Is Ross allowed to have a say in that? I didn't realize owners could make calls regarding the schedule, never heard that before.

I still find it very weird that we don't play a 1:00 game at home until week 10! That's crazy.

Sucks for me, looks like I won't see a game from home til after week 10. It will still be a 1 oclock start for us west coasters, that puts me in conflict with the seachicks and they never run a game opposite them. We'll be competing w/ the chargers, raiders 49ers Cardinals and Broncos instead of the early slot before they play. It'll mean a crappy TV at the bar too. So... all around crappy idea Mr Ross :pity:

I want our fanbase to be known for something more then observers of watching other teams melt in the sun. i want our fans to make an impact on our team from an emotional standpoint.

I know we practice in the heat, and that initself, demands a certain amout of fortitude that give us an advantage that other teams must match, but i'd rather have an even playing field with a crowd that lifts the team to play at another level, not a fanbase that sits on their *** hoping that the heat will wilt the other team..iam sorry, thats not how i wanna be known for winning a football game.

I'm gonna miss waking up at 1 o'clock and rushing down stairs to watch the Fins.
But Dj has a point. The fan base could be much improved this year. The fans might help us, too. Not as much as the heat, but they can play a role.

That's your problem, DJ. You're thinking about the Orange Bowl. If the games were still there, this time shift might make a difference, but the crowd noise in Dolphin Stadium is never going to be as big of a factor as it was in the OB due to the stadium design.

maybe so Dr. Z, but i'll be damned if iam gonna let anyone tell me that iam wrong for wanting our fans to make a difference, and i KNOW that there is a difference in our stadium we play 4 oclock games, compared to 1 oclock games..ive felt it. and have seen the difference, on numerous occasions...i would rather have a rockin stadium {as rockin as our stadium can get, and believe me, i know it aint the orange bowl} helping our team win a game, then a half empty, lazy one, thats waiting for the other team to fold because of mother nature.

well, I really think that having the other team fall apart in the fourth quarter is more important and effective than any noise difference at the stadium. Also, Ross had nothing to go with this, it is just the way the schedule fell. Ross would be a maroon to mess with something that has worked VERY effectively for more than forty years. If you can't hack the heat, stay home, the TEAM doesn't have a problem with it. I've never heard an opposing team claim to worry about crowd noise, they get that everywhere, they ALL worry about a 1 o'clock start in September.

Marty, i totally believe that the energy of a home crowd can lift a players performance....THATS the advantage ive been dying for since we left the orange bowl, and to me, has been a disadvantage to our team since we left, so any way i can see improving on that energy, iam all about it, because i believe that it CAN make a difference, moreso, and relative to a 1 oclock start time, we still get some of that advantage at 4 brother.
