Now there's rumors going around that Affliction might try to get Tito Ortiz to step in for Barnett. Who wants to see Tito lay (or at least TRY to lay) on Fedor for 5 rounds? Not I. At this point it doesn't matter, the Affliction card Aug. 1st is ruined, I think it will bury the promotion. I don't see how they'll be able to sell any PPV's, and I see a MASSIVE amount of money lost because of it. Honestly, after the Fedor vs. Barnett fight, what else could they possibly have to offer the world of MMA? Absolutely nothing. They already had one foot in the grave, now this has simply accelerated the inevitable. Mark my words, Affliction is done promoting fights. They haven't ever made any money, and I can't believe that guys like Trump and De La Hoya are going to want to keep putting money in, when they get nothing out. It's a very good thing, though. Maybe now the UFC will have an easier time signing Fedor.

He owns m1 global and wants UFC to share, UFC doesn't share. So he will just sent Fedor back to Japan...im sure they will set up a fight during the NYE card.

Another fight with a chump like Hong Man Choi, maybe? Jesus Christ... Fedor will become a joke if he doesn't go to the UFC. There are absolutely no worthy opponents anywhere else. Arlovski - He's been done since Tim Sylvia beat him the second time. Barnett - Has zero importance after his second failed drug test, this two-time loser's career is all but over. He'll be fighting the likes of Tank Abbott and Jose Canseco after his suspension is over. Lashley - He is NOT the second coming of Brock Lesnar. Overeem - Nowhere near a top 10 HW, IMO. Rogers - I see some potential, but just because he KO'ed Glass Joe (Arlovski) doesn't mean he is one of the top fighters on the planet. IMO, if Fedor wants to retain his credibility/relevance in the sport, he has no choice but to go where all the best fighters are. He could go on fighting bums in fly-by-night promotions the rest of his career, or take the challenge of once again fighting the best HW fighters in the world. His manager is a piece of work, we'll have to see what happens. I predict that Fedor will fight in the UFC by late next year.

I don't know about "done" After his loss to Silva he went on a 5 win streak, beaing guys like Werdum and Ben Rothwell. The fact that he finished Rothwell was a big deal, because he is known as tough guy. Was the hyped up, and they made it look like AA would have a chance of winning the fight? Yes. Thats the point of promoting fights. Was that true? No, not at all. But hey, many people still think AA was kicking Fedor's *** until Fedor caught him with a lucky punch. I wouldn't say his career as a whole is over. Will he be relevent? No. Im sure he will go fight in Dream, and roid all he wants, while making himself feel better on beating up on cans. And again, this was a great promoter job. Out of 5 career losses, 3 came to Crocop in his prime, Nog and Rizzo, loss that he avenged last year with a brutal KO, so I see why people thought it was another good match up for Fedor, take in the fact that the fight was long overdue, considering that they fought in PRIDE together, with many people accusing Josh of ducking Fedor, while he responded that Fedor was his friend and he didin't want to fight him. Josh was not the same fighter he was in Japan, where he juiced, its ironic, really. He went to Japan in first place because he was caugh juicing here, and now history repeats itself. Personally, I always thought Josh was a bit overrated, and Fedor would of finished him off quick. Second coming, or not, he has no business fighting Fedor, Lashley himself knows that. He insisted himself that he wants to do it the "right" way, climb up the latter. Loss to Fedor will just set him back, minor set back, but neverless a set back. If he beats Fedor, Dana scoops him up, and thows him to top competition, with him still not being ready. The only reasonable arugment is that he could fight if you throw enough money at him, but money is obviously not a priority for him. That is debatable. But this isn't sherdog, so were not going to go there I will say that Ovareem is the only legit non UFC fighter out there for Fedor. I think that guy is a first class can. Has anyone heard of him before he beat AA? He benefited from AA's glass chin, more than anything. Sure, he is 10-0, but out of the 10 guys he beat, besides AA, ive only heard of James Thompson, and that guy is 2-8 in his last ten fights. He has choice. Heck, he has more options than any other fighter on the planet right now. Credibility-wise, he doesn't care. He will fight anybody. Now this is where it gets tricky. Im sure they can find a way to co-promote a fight with Ovareem, then what? His manager is the #1 problem. I truly believe that Fedor doesn't even know what UFC has offered him, all negotiations are done throught his manager. His manager is the owner of Russian M1-Global fighting company, and he wants UFC to share, and UFC doesn't share, everybody knows that. My dad knows some people out in St. Pete who know the guy personally, and they all insist that he is a first class jackass. There are good news. Lorenzo Fertitta did an itnreview wit Sherdog, and said he wants to meet Fedor personally, to talk about fighting. For Fedor, Sambo is the #1 obstacle, LF said he could figure something out about that. Another problem is Fedors translator, that guy is also his lawyer, appointed by his manger, who is also and minority owner in M1-Global, and the guys speaks Russian worse than Ivan Drago. If they will meet, UFC needs to bring their own translator, just so he could monitor Fedor's translator, to make sure there won't be anything lost in translation.
I agree that Fedor probably doesn't even know what the UFC was truly offering him. We could see Fedor in the UFC, or we could see crap like Fedor vs. Giant Silva on New Year's Eve in Japan. I REALLY hope he goes to the UFC.
Just found this. This guy was unreal. From when he started fighting, in 1995, to 2000, when he lost to coleman in grand prix finals, he lost 1 fight. Unbelievable. He had NO ground game, but overcame it by having a ridiculous stand up game His only loss? Cheap "chin in the eye" submission. Enjoy. I used to watch Vovchanchyn in PRIDE. He was decent, not anything special IMO. He was the type of fighter that would destroy cans, but never beat the top guys. He was just too short at 5'8" to hang with the "real" big boys. The video only shows him destroying cans. It should show when Cro Cop nearly decapitated him with a left head-kick. The only truly good fighter he ever beat was Sakuraba. That said, it's still a great highlight video, I like cans getting destroyed! P.S. For the record, Vovchanchyn lost twice before the year 2000 (Wikipedia doesn't list his first 3 fights, at "UCMAL - Warrior's Honour 1". He lost in the championship bout via kneebar) - He went 17-8 from 2000 until he hung it up in 2005.
Just in!!! It is being reported that Affliction has cancelled "Trilogy". They must've realized that there was no possible way to salvage the show and make any money, so they shut her down. Apparently Showtime had a big role in the cancellation, as well. Looks like NOBODY is going to fight Fedor next Saturday...
Yeah, he fought cans for first 5 years, but lets not forget, in Russia, especially in mid 90's there was no MMA as we know it. He is definetly a pioneer. Fighters like him made MMA visible to other spectators, and while he may lack quality wins, he was an exciting fighter, and made up for his lack in his ground game, in his stand up. He retired because he broke his right hand so many times, he cant even open and close it properly.
He better come to the UFC. I mean there is no fighter anywhere who will ever give him the challege that the UFC will and I doubt he will get paid any better than the UFC. As much as I wanna see a Lesnar v.s. Fedor match I wanna see a Frank Mir v.s. Fedor even more. That could go down as one of the best matches ever and with two guys who have Amazing skill levels.
Boy wouldn't that be a coup for the UFC. Just like they did with PRIDE. They'd have Fedor. And Fedor would only be locked in for one fight. Somewhere in Las Vegas, Randy Couture just got wood. I'd love to see Fedor and Mir go at it. That's be fantastic. At this point, Fedor has to go to the UFC. His status and legacy will suffer if he doesn't. I know I will not regard him as highly. UFC doesn't and doesn't need to co-promote with anybody. I'm not sure exactly how Fedor's contract with M-1 is structured. From what I can tell, Barnett was to be his fourth fight in a 2-year, 6-fight deal. Is it whichever term expires first? This dude is Fedor's manager though. Would be nice if the UFC got the contract from Affliction and told this guy to **** off for one fight. But I would think it would get really messy if they did so. And it would end up truly being a one-off if Fedor actually went thru with it, due to the contract.
fedor doesnt wanna fight in ufc.....if he wants to show hes the best.....he needs to beat brock, and defend his title against the best HW's.....until then.....F him....and F his manager
I don't know if it's that simple right now. I agree that he HAS to join the UFC. But Fedor can't just walk out on his contract. His manager can sue and effectively put him on the bench indefinitely via the legal system. The easiest way would probably be to buy Fedor's contract from M-1, though this guy probably would want a small country for him. You look at their website. It's basically all Fedor. Also complicating matters is the fact that, from what I can gather, this guy has been Fedor's manager for a long time. That can also cause problems (loyalty). Basically, he's Fedor's manager and the president of M-1. Prior to this contract, he was Fedor's manager and the owner of M-1. As usual, it's about money. This guy has Fedor and therefore sees nothing wrong with insisting on the unprecedented. The UFC can't and shouldn't budge.
and they won't. Personally, I dont think we will see Fedor in UFC, and it will be Fedor's managers fault.
