Mobely did retire but his salary is still on the books for this year and hes still getting paid by the knicks. As a result his rights can be dealt along with his contract. Re Lee: He is good but teams like the Thunder are saving their cap space for next year and teams like the Grizzlies are too dumb to sign Lee instead of trading for a malcontent (at times) like Randolph
Not really. They used most if not all of their midlevel exception on Bass. I supposed a sign and trade could be done but the knicks would want expiring contracts and picks and orlando aside from Redick has very few, if any, expiring contracts that would match up with Nate the Great and Nate is probably worth more then a late 1st round pick which is likely where Orlando looks poised to finish (near the top of the east).
Good points. I was just asking because I'm not that knowledgable when it comes to contracts and such. One player I would love to see Orlando sign is Matt Barnes.
Good chance Boozer ends up in Miami, but I highly, highly doubt we get Lamar Odom, although I know Miami is the only team he'd take less to sign with if that were the issue. I've been calling this all along: Once Utah matches Portland's offer sheet for Millsap, Portland is going to throw all remaining cap space at Lamar Odom. They're going to give him the 5/45 he's been looking for, and that is a damn good price for a player of Lamar Odom's caliber. He'd compliment their assets extremely well and give them some trade flexibility with what would be a clogged young and talented perimeter... Would be smart to try packaging Blake and either Outlaw or Webster for an upgrade at the point guard position.
So, if the Miami Heat acquire Carlos Boozer, does that eliminate the chances of them getting Chris Bosh next summer?
Well actually Miami would also acquire Boozer's Bird years therefor giving them a good chance to signing him back
now that i think about it, i would be def be okay odom for that price...even though he probably doesn't want to play in portland. and doesnt get a long with our best players very well.
Bye Bye Boozer. Jazz match offer http://nba.fanhouse.com/2009/07/17/jazz-match-blazer-offer-for-millsap-pack-boozers-bags/
that deal is dead. by salary alone..it doesn't match. That deal COSTS UTAH money. they want to save money. Boozer will also not committ to extending in Chicago. so yeah..stick a fork in that.
That makes no sense to me. The whole point in Utah trading Boozer is to save money and save their own *** from the luxury tax. Why would they take on Kirk Hinrich, who would be a backup PG behind a PG who plays 35-40 minutes per game... when he's got three years with no team or player options left on his deal worth $9.5 million, $9 million, and $8 million per? Laughable. Chicago does not have what it takes to make a play for Boozer unless Utah wants to look into Jerome James or Tim Thomas. They need desperate help from a third party, not just a small contract or two. Major help. I also read somewhere a few weeks ago that Utah is not interested in Tyrus Thomas, but rather Noah.
Millsap, BTW, is an absolute stud... he's going to be a MONSTER next year clogging all those minutes at the four spot with Deron Williams passing him the rock.
And I also read somewhere that Utah will match Portlands offer today for Milsap so Boozer is headed out the door.
OK, I apologize. I assumed this was yet another Heater's "let's trade Haslem for a star!" wet dream, which would be roughly the 7635th one I've seen on this site and its predecessor. Now, that said, it seems clear to me that Wojnarowski is just pulling stuff out of his alimentary canal. On what planet does it make sense for the Jazz to take yet another undersized power forward for Boozer? I do, however, enjoy the obligatory "and the Grizzlies will take on a contract and get a pick for their trouble" aspect of the deal.
Lol..no I understand completely. When HD and Section were first talking about this being a possibility I was like yeh right..but bottom line they want to be rid of his salary and Haslem makes less so....
I guess it's possible if the Jazz are backed into a corner and essentially have to take 50 cents on the dollar for Boozer. But I've got to think they can get a more appealing offer.
They don't want an appealing offer...they want the offer that saves them the most money. WE ARE IT. and Andy didn;t pull this one out of anywhere he is piggy backing us on this one.. Me and HD broke this story. We also broke the Odom contract offer story. It's as if we are writing these stories.
Because it's one thing to take on a player with a fat contract and give up nothing. It's another to take on a all-star player with an expiring contract and give up nothing. If it works, hey, kudos to Pat Riley. I just can't believe that the Jazz are incapable of finding another offer that will both save money and bring back something useful.
This actually came out earlier this week, and I just noticed it, and am absolutely dumbfounded. Toronto is signing Jarrett Jack to a 4 year, $20M offer sheet. Edit: it's on ESPN; I'm not linking to ESPN ever again if I can avoid it. If someone had called me up and said that Jack signed with Toronto, and played that game where you have to keep guessing what he signed for, I think I'd be on the phone for 3 hours. "Guess what Jack signed for." "2 years, $3 million." "Nope." "2 years, $4 million?" "Nope." 4 years and $20 million so they can have a mediocre point guard backing up Jose Calderon? Jarrett Jack gets 4 years and $20 million and Andre Miller is looking at 1 year deals? What on earth is wrong with this league?!?
well...Pat Riley is ...Pat Riley. Haslem is a very capable PF..and well worth his contract. not a bad consolation prize to save a ton of cash and still have haslem to man the position.
All I'm worried about is the Heat getting Chris Bosh. I would rather the Heat acquire Boozer instead of Bosh.
Miller is not that much better then jack. Jack has more range and is a better defender. He's also much younger. Miller is 33 and wants 3/30m. Jack isn't a star but he has upside still where as miller will only decline at this point
Why? God Bird! Stop getting all these big slow white players!! Hoosiers is just a movie!! Now its becoming reality. Daniels to Boston is a good depth move for them.
Miller is much better than Jack. Miller can't hit the 3, but knows enough not to try. Jack isn't a great three point shooter; he's mediocre. But, he takes them regularly just the same. Jarrett Jack will never be as good a player as Andre Miller is right now. For that matter, players of Miller's type tend to age quite well. Pass-first points who don't rely on lightning quick penetration tend to play pretty well late in their careers.
I hear they're signing Jimmy Chitwood next week. Merle and Flatch worked out last week but left without offers. However, I question why either side would be interested in such a move. Scalabrine is one of the 10 worst players in the NBA, there's no rationale for voluntarily taking him in trade unless you're going to simply waive him. Obviously, he's cap ballast in the deal. Fine. However, that means the Celtics are signing Daniels for something on the order of $5-6 million per year, which seems like an awful lot for someone of his talents. He's a terrible outside shooter, yet takes almost 2 3s a game, which is 2 more than he should be taking. He doesn't play defense, and he's become less and less interested in passing the ball. Honestly, I think both teams would be better off if the Celtics signed Daniels to the $3M per year he's really worth, and just sent Tony Allen to the Pacers for their trouble. Allen could be a useful player if he could stay healthy, just as Daniels might be a useful player if someone smacked him and told him to pass more, shoot 3s less and D up more.
