Andy Cohen: Some Pre-Training Camp Observations http://www.miamidolphins.com/newsite/news/top_story.asp?contentID=6520
I love Andy.. he's the best dang homer around, and I eat up every bit of it. heck of a compliment there by a guy who knows both. Thanks for the heads up bro!
Yeah, his heads-up play is reminiscent of Griese's, but he doesn't have quite the zip on balls Griese had, or as I remember it anyway.
After watching the determination to FINISH that we saw last year, I have to say that I agree. Year two in the system, and with the cat, the playbook will be innovative. They know what they have in the vets now, and how they fit the vision. They have drafted and worked free agency to compliment and enhance that, I think good times are ahead!
Anyone know what the talent level of the CFL translate to? Division I , II? I mean, if you look at college you have studs at DI that flop in the pros and you have average joes that have a very successful career. Sure is exciting to get a cheap prospect and hoping he converts those talents to the next level. It's almost like a free draft pick.
•The over-under on the Dolphins win total in Las Vegas is 7 1/2. For a team that won 11 games last season and its division, that represents a total lack of respect. I'd take that bet all day long. No way we don't win 8 games.
Well, let's consider the CFL v Div I. How many top flight tackles did Demarcus Ware face while at Troy? Yet he had an impact his rookie season, Cam Wake has played 40 more games before his NFL debut this season and improved every year in the CFL. Does that mean Wake is Ware jr? Nope, not saying that at all, what I am saying is if Ware can come from Troy and play well his first year in the NFL, why can't Wake? Tuna choose Ware, he worked out Wake, he has an eye for Lb's... (we'll just not mention Bobby Carpenter...)
To go from being bottom feeders in the NFL, to maybe an elite football team, is just amazing. Makes me shed a tear.
I disagree with Sparano on this one. One thing that this team takes into the season from last season is that last year they learned how to win, in a number of ways. They learned how to win when coming from behind (in a game and in the standings). They learned how to win when they had a lead; they learned how to finish. And most importantly, they learned how to win a big game that they HAD to win (the Jets game), when all the chips were on the table. These are tools that each player will have in his tool belt this year that they didn't have last year. And that's a hell of a thing to be able to say.
They also learned how to win in the extreme cold, that KC game was just brutal and the sort of game the Dolphins would lose in the past and disappoint everyone.
I love reading Andy Cohen, he is sharp and has that great Homer streak in him, and isn't afraid to write things that way. He is right on pretty much every point, and we are going to have some serious fun finding out about the result of all our offseason moves & picks. Screw the schedule, based solely on the previous year's schedules, we should have won only maybe 3-4 games last year. I expect at LEAST 10 wins and one playoff game win. But of course, I'm drowning in the koolaid
They have'nt learned how to win a big hype game at home..Jets, patriots, ravens... That monday nite game against the colts in our home opener scares the crap out of me....God i hate our stadium, i hate saying that but its truly how i feel...i hope this team can ever overcome the disadvantages that stadium presents to the Psyche of a football team.
You make a good point DJ, but honestly I think (hope) Ross is making moves that could help rectify the situation. The type of patrons likely to be drawn (Parrotheads [not talkin CK here], beer drinkers, and passionate Latinos) are usually more vocal and supportive fans. More boisterous anyway, and I mean that strictly in a positive light. I would dearly love for these types of people to buy up all the seats so the NY and NE fans don't have them available and get us some louder and more boisterous fans in that stadium. Get that place solidly ROCKING in support of our Fins!
i love our fans, its not our fans fault, ive finally realized that {and have peace}, its totally the configuration of the stadium itself, it will put even the best fans on their asses, when you try to make an impact and it has no affect, you finally give up {which i never have} Ive been to the stadium to understand the energy from our fans is very hard to get across to the players, the stadium just does'nt allow us to be heard at a level where we feel like were making a positive impact with our players...discouragement sets in and we get lazy. And ive said many times on this board, our players, and our franchise is suffering because of it.. Having no impact on the game from an energy and crowd noise standpoint, affects the win column and our franchises economy. I Will never stop trying to get our fans to be louder at the games, because i truly understand how important it is.
This is Goodwill Hunting speaking DJ... Over 9/10th of our current team has not been here since 2004... you can say that the only guys in our roster (if not mistaken) is JT, Bell, Ricky and Carey... So that being 4 guys out of the REST of the football team would, as you call, have a physique problem...and would that problem deal with the performance of 2007??? They won their only game at home.... but lets continue... Since the stadium opened up as JRS the team has had a 62% winning performance at home (including Post Season). Don't know if that is bad or not in comparison to other teams... They have won 113 and lost 69 since 1987... Under the Marino years (1987-1999), at home, they went 71-36 (winning 66%)... Under the Fielder years (2000-2003), at home, the went 24-10 (winning 75%)... Under the Feeley/Fiedler year (2004), at home they went 3-5 (winning 38%)... Under the Frerote/Harrington years (2005-2006), at home they 9-7 (winning 56%)... Under Chad they went 5-4 (winning 56%)... I could be off a game or two, but the numbers are those taken from: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/mia/?redir... So as far as JT remembers, since joining the Dolphins (minus 2008), this team has won 56/35 (winning 62%)... So your statement DJ bares little meaning to their physique (IMO), due to the fact that they have not been playing in this stadium that long... and let's not forget the current NFL sack leader came back for a reason... and it starts with an R***...
Remember if we get any louder, we will loose over voice and then what??? but anyways, give the fans something to cheer about and they will... be loud...
How could i argue with you goodwill hunting, " i can never understand the depths of you" {great line ya know} I think i feel that way 10 times a day in normal life..lol Anyways, i truly believe that crowd impact can lift a team's performance on the field, and i also believe that our stadium puts us in dead last place when it comes to that....It is my biggest fear Dnard. but thanks for trying to cheer me up.
