Bosh Speaks http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sport...hris-bosh-there-is-no-link-to-miami-heat.html rumors make the message board go round. Summer of 2010 will be fun to see what actually happens.
Sheed to sign with the C's. So what happens to Powe and Big Baby? Do they have enough cap to keep them? Because if they cant keep both of them they wont sniff the finals.
Portland is pursuing Lee along with a half dozen other teams. As a Knicks fan the thing to worry about is them "poison pilling" the contract making the cap hit for the 2010/2011 season the largest salaried in the contract. I could see a Lee for Outlaw + picks swap or getting a 3rd team involved if it had to be a sign and trade. Andre Miller could be their other target.
I don't see the logic in the Lakers wanting Nate Robinson. I assume that Shannon Brown is leaving and yes, Fisher is getting to the age where he is better coming off the bench, but Nate Robinson doesn't fit the Phil Jackson profile AT ALL for a PG. I know there have been talks that Farmar is to be traded as well, but I hope not, because if L.A. goes into the season with Fisher and Robinson as their PG's...it is going to cause some problems.
Ya I can see kobe smacking lil nate after nate goes into one of his shoot first, ask questions later moods lol
I dont think it will be. Nate is a combo G. He will fit perfectly in the triangle O. IMO thats why Farmar struggles so much, you dont need a true point in the triangle. Even though you may be pressed at calling him a true point. IMO he gets on a squad like this he becomes a perfect comp. player for Kobe and Gasol. And I still wish I could have gotten my hands on a krypto Nate shirt before DC shut it down.
My bad. I thought they used Terry as a sixth man and third guard, not a starter. Honestly, that's where they SHOULD use him, though. Terry is tiny for a 2. With Kidd getting steadily worse defensively, they can no longer count on him to guard the other team's best guard and shelter Terry on D. Hamilton isn't a physical defender by any stretch, but he's a hard worker who can stay with quicker guards. He'd probably have better success checking Tony Parker than Kidd did last year, for example. They'd have a small-ball lineup of Nowitzki, Howard, Hamilton, Terry and Kidd (if he resigns), which isn't bad at all. And they'd have some options in crunch-time; I've always thought of Terry as a fairly streaky shooter. If he's cold, you sit him and play Hamilton. If Kidd is getting abused by Tony Parker or Monta Ellis, you sit him and have Terry run the point. I think they can do it, but only if the Pistons haven't already renounced Iverson.
Man, I don't know about that. Odom and Gasol both willingly took fewer touches in the playoffs to appease Kobe; they're going to want more this year, and they should get it. Gasol, in particular, was wickedly effective with the modest shots he had in the playoffs. Bringing in a player who's all but useless without the ball in his hands could really backfire.
Got a link to that? I haven't seen it elsewhere. The Pistons have been mentioned as a possible destination for Carlos Boozer, who the Jazz now are looking to deal. (Good move, that.) Love your new avatar, BTW. Edit: I hope there's no truth to the rumor that the Pistons want Davis. He wasn't a good player at all until last year's playoffs. Check out his PER; it's abysmal. He doesn't play much defense, and is practically allergic to rebounds, despite being a 6'9, 290 pound forward.
Nate's only real ability as far as I can tell is to score. Considering that L.A., has Kobe, Artest, Gasol and possibly Odom to do the scoring, Nate doesn't bring much to the table. What they need is a PG that can play defense and hit the open jumper when called upon to do so. Granted, L.A. hasn't played the triangle proper in quite some time, but the elements are still there. Jackson likes BIG guards, Nate is the antithesis of that.
Nate is a very good passer as well when he plays unselfishly. He's one of the very few players who can get his shot anytime though and hasnt learned to use that to set up his teammates on a consistent basis. There will be nights where you watch him and say "wow" and nights you feel like youre watching a poor man's Allen Iverson.
From the News-Herald, cross-posted at MLive and Yahoo... Oh please, sweet baby Jesus, let that be true.
Boozer would make Sheed an after thought for sure. RIP would be a nice compliment for Williams and would open the door for Milsap, win, win for both teams, IMO.
Kidd staying in Dallas and Spurs are offering Big Baby their MLE: The Spurs are reportedly prepared to offer Glen Davis their mid-level exception, which the Celtics are not expected to match. Rasheed Wallace's decision to sign with Boston could determine Big Baby's fate -- the Celtics no longer have a pressing need for him, while the Spurs are left with just a handful of affordable PFs to choose from (Marcus Haislip doesn't count). For what it's worth, Celtics GM Danny Ainge said he wants to re-sign Davis as soon as possible. Source: Comcast Sportsnet Jason Kidd has verbally committed to re-signing with the Mavericks, according to ESPN.com. The three-year deal is reportedly worth more than $25 million, all of it fully guaranteed. Kidd's decision to stay in Dallas was widely anticipated -- the Knicks made a strong push to sign him but couldn't offer more than the mid-level exception. Source: ESPN.com
What then becomes of Tayshaun Prince, 29 and due 11M each of the next 2 years? Does he get traded too or is he the 6th man? Because at that point you would have a logjam at SF/PF with Villanueva, prince and Boozer. Unless Boozer was going to play center which is possible, though not really advisable given his knack for getting hurt. Some interesting retooling going on in Detroit. I do agree trading Hamilton would be wise as he is still a very good player but the majority of the teammates he was successful with are now gone. I could see him still being an extremely effective player in a place like Utah or San Antonio or Dallas. I think a Hamilton/Terry swap may be an option as well as terry would provide insurance for Stuckey leaving Dallas with Barea as a backup PG and sliding Howard over to SF would be solid for their starting lineup. Detroit gets a PG to help Stuckey not get worn down playing major minutes for a full year for the first time.
How so? We were planning to meet with Sheed, but he knew that nobody was going to offer more than the MLE(what Boston offered). We can't afford to make a move for Boozer. At no point have we shown interest in Big Baby, who also would command the entire MLE. We already acquired a veteran 8 time all-star whos stats are inclining from the previous season, and have limited money to spend to shore out the roster. Thankfully with youthful talent like Bass still out there, we are still in a great position. I think we need to push hard for him though, as the list of potential PF acquisitions are slowly dwindling.
The Magic, Mavericks, and Bobcats had shown the most interest in Brandon. The Mavericks are waiting to see what offers are out there to see if they can match it(not likely after Gortat Acquisition), and if it's not Charlotte then the odds are strongly in favor of Orlando putting the 25m offer down on Bass. That said, 25m is a pretty big number for an unproven youngster.

It's a good question. It's also one of the reasons I wasn't huge on Villanueva to begin with; he's not exactly a prototype 4 and couldn't guard his own shadow. However, Boozer would probably rotate between the 4 and 5. A frontcourt of Boozer, Villanueva and Prince would be pretty damn effective at "small-ball". I use the quotes because a frontcourt with three guys with 7 foot wingspans isn't exactly small. I'm sure Boozer wouldn't love playing the 5 on defense against guys like Dwight Howard and Shaq, but they'd probably try to keep that to 15 min. a night or so and have him play more at the 4. Hamilton for Terry wouldn't be a bad plan C at all. I'm hoping Plan B is Rip for Tyson Chandler.
Ruh roh? [ame="http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4309337"]Dwyane Wade says he'll stay with Miami Heat if team returns to title contention - ESPN@@AMEPARAM@@http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=4308900@@AMEPARAM@@4308900[/ame]
I can't imagine Wade going anywhere else, but if he does, Pat Riley is going to have a BUNCH of pissed off Heat fans to contend with.
Sect...ohh...Sect....it would seem not everyone is onboard with the "plan".. These guys get rich so early, and are competitive, going for titles becomes more important then the money...Sect probably rolled over in his Bentley at that thought...
For real, the idea that a young Bull like D Wade is going to sit on his hands and go along with the "we're saving cap space D Wade..for 2010...honestly" plan does not make very much sense. Every contending team in the East has gotten stronger, even teams like the Pistons have gotten stronger, the Heat have done -0-, if the Cavs got Shaq to help Lebron win this season, why should D Wade expect anything less?
I don't think this statement from Wade means all that much he's basically just saying if the Heat turn into a 20-30 win team that sits out the playoffs with no prospects of winning a title he might leave. Theres no reason to think Miami can't be a top 3-4 seed in the east with their present team and if they sign a player or two in 2010 they will be one of the top teams in the league. This is why players don't usually make good GMs, most players wouldn't have the patience to build a proper team, I actually like what the Heat are doing.
I like the fact that Riley is staying out of the bidding wars for mediocre players that are going on right now. I think most of the guys that are signed already are getting a lot more than they are worth.
D Wade is looking at the Eastern Conference and which teams are making moves to win the Championship and it's not a comfortable view...
He's welcome to be a knick anytime he wants. Ill be the first in line to welcome him. I liked watching him so much at Marquette that I was the only person out of 120 in a pool that year that picked Marquette to make the final 4. He has a tremendous knack for making everyone better.
