The Celtics have as well, only they plan on going back and do not mind paying a heavy penalty for the effort, unlike the Heat. Sheed is intriguing, but to me G Hill may be more of what they need for when Allen has an ice cold night which he is prone to do too often.
and what exactly are they accomplishing by tying up cap space to an old *** team? exactly...another desperate move to win just ONE more. like I said...been there...done that. you seem to not understand what your favorite team (the Heat) is. It is a talented young team in a fabulous financial situation. enjoy it.
The future is now Sect, Celts win this season, then 2010 who knows? BTDT with staying pat, it seldomly works, look at the Suns and Mavericks teams that won 60 games a year and never advanced or won the title, that is typically how things pan out in pro sports. The Bulls at one time looked like an up and coming team with Gordon and Curry and they never did a thing, now Henzrich and Gordon are leaving and the cry is, once again, "wait till next year".
The future is not now. it is next year. THE GUYS WE WANT ARE NOT AVAILABLE NOW. get it? so we either blow up our young team for a bunch of guys we don;t want. Or play out the year (we will be better by just being older) and then ADD WHOEVER WE WANT. Two bulls at the top of a hill looking down on a bunch of cows.....the young one tells the older one....."hey...I say we RUN down there in that valley and **** one of those cows...." The older one then tells the younger one..."I got a better idea...why not WALK down there and **** them ALL."
horribly. the mavs got terry, howard and kidd in the backcourt. Rip should be traded now...that much money on the bench as a 6th man is a waste. they can send him somewhere to help the front court I would say.
2 things about Sheed to Boston. - It says a lot about a former All-Star like Rasheed if he is looking to come off the bench as he will in Boston. He could start in both San Antonio and Orlando, and actually fits the system better in both teams. - It also could be saying a lot about Boston's faith in KG's ability to return and consistently play at a high level. I wanted Sheed in Orlando, but if hes actually interested in limited play time, maybe we would be much better off going after someone like Brandon Bass. He is a young true PF who we could certainly utilize on the floor with Howard.
As I tried to explain to Sect, when a player wants to win a title, the money is not the issue, these guys already have mansions and the whole bit, there is no amount of money that replaces winning a title. Ask Charles Barkley.
I didnt question him based on economics. Im questioning his will to play tough when he obviously wouldn't be interested in a starting position by joining Boston. Also, to your point of "wanting a title", by him joining Orlando he would be obviously going to the Eastern Champs. I think he has a shot at a title in all 3, San Antonio, Orlando, and Boston. It's just that he is going to be less of an impact and receive less minutes in Boston. I think its kind of hard to suggest someone of his caliber is hungry for a championship by joining a team to come off the bench. My interest in Sheed is waning, and its not because he is visiting Boston, but because he seems interested in coming off the bench for less minutes. Maybe his age & getting banged around is getting to him worse than I previously hoped.
It's hard to read what Sheed is thinking phinz, could be he believes Boston has the best chance to win a title "now" and could be he has made the caculation that KG may be rested more then he normally is during the regular season. And it's a rumor at this point isn't it? The guy I'd like to see Boston land is G Hill, but that's just me.
Anyway...what is this fascination with "Sheed wants a title." he already has a title. Sheed wants the MLE. Winning is a nice bonus for him.
Man I don't know anyone that would take on that O'Neal contract can't be accused of being cheap, that contract's totally insane.
and we took it on with the purpose of paying him 46 million dollars to get us to the 2010 season. then offer him the MLE. how THAT is cheap is beyond me. pay somebody 46 million to be a cap figure? plus a 800,000 penalty on the luxury tax. All to set up the team for the 2010 off-season. not only has the heat spent money..but very patiently set themselves up very well. If they were cheap..they could have kept marion and then signed Boozer this offseason and stayed under the threshold. instead..they maximized their signing potential for 2010 by picking up a MAX in JO.
Man how Zach has fallen. He use to be a top five PF in the league. I dont get players like him and Maggette. All the talent in the world and just dont give a damn.
Disagree on maggette. I love his game. he just likes money. But his game wins. He is a great passer and scorer and he gets to the free throw line. you can win with a guy like that.
I like his game as well, but he lacks passion. And you can win with him, I just dont think you can win BIG with him. Maybe in an Odom type role.
O'Neal's contract is insane and really he's been mailing it in for years, a big man that doesn't try isn't worth a dime, he used to be a great player but he's easily one of the top 2 or 3 most over paid players in the league right now. Taking on his deal for future cap room certainly isn't cheap. I'm not sure if it will work out or not but its smart on Miami's part, they are much better off with their players to give this team a year or so to play together then make a huge push in '10 or '11 when that team is seasoned and poised to win. I think spending into the luxury tax to be a 5th or 6th place team with a mediocre chance is stupid when you can be a 8th or 7th place team and not go into the luxury range and then turn around and be a top 3 team in a year if you play free agency the right way.

He never came across as a **** just lazy man. He is capable of great defense when he plays but he just doesnt. Hes capable of dominating a game in the post yet he shoots a ton of jumpers. Hes capable of driving past bigger players yet he settles. And thats his problem and it will continue to hold him back.
He's the worst, absolute worst kind of player, a guy that fills the stat sheets on crappy teams so people think he's worth tons of cash. If Randolph is your goto guy you're watching the playoffs on TV every year, hes a bum.
Artest possibly to Cleveland! Wow, that'd be crazy. Also, it wont be Collins in Detroit...Per Rotoworld Doug Collins has withdrawn from consideration for the Pistons' vacant head coaching job, leaving Avery Johnson as the apparent front-runner. ESPN reports that Johnson had his first substantive discussion with Dumars about the position earlier on Wednesday. Dumars wants to name a new coach within a week, and barring something unexpected it looks like Johnson will get the job. Source: ESPN.com Ron Artest met with LeBron James in Los Angeles to discuss his future, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer. The Cavaliers, Lakers and Celtics --an elite group of championship contenders-- are all reportedly interested in Artest. The Rockets may not want to give him a large contract now that Yao Ming's season is in jeopardy and Tracy McGrady is a shell of his former self. Source: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Yea, that's the word Im looking for, lazy. And damn it Otis Smith, do something! Posted via Mobile Device
I agree that if they get Artest thats a nasty team. Get Wallace to play PF and thats the best defensive team in the league without a doubt
i don't think he is capable of playing great defense. he is slow and not athletic..he could play decent defense if he put effort but he isn't capable of great defense...and dude is a nice guy, i met him once...
If the Cavs sign Artest, that's a fantastic counter-move to the Magic trading for Carter. Artest is exactly the kind of swingman that gives Carter fits. Apparently Orlando is offering Sheed the MLE, so I retract my earlier statement that there was no way they'd sign him. I thought for sure they were going to just fill out the roster with minimum players and rookies, but I guess not. Good for them. My respect for that organization has increased tenfold since this time last year. Gordon and Villanueva to the Pistons....God, I hope we can find an agile, shotblocking big; there are going to be a lot of uncontested drives to the hoop. Wonder if the Hornets would do a Rip Hamilton for Tyson Chandler deal? The Clippers will probably hang onto Camby now that they've offloaded Zach Randolph.
