Dude...you are forgetting WHO you are talking too.... WE WON a CHAMPIONSHIP. DID YOU FORGET? Did it slip your mind?
padre must of not paid attention to what happened last season. The Heat in one year rebuilt with young talent an entire roster and in the process improved from 15 wins to 43. Now they have the most cap space int eh NBA to llok forward too in one year. yeah..the future is bright. Enjoy your last ditch effort at a title. We will just wait the one year when the field clears out and we add a max and enjoy smooth sailing to the finals.
Well hell, Portland should take it next season then. And keep in mind, the Cavs traded for Shaq when they already are into the Luxury Tax penalty, they did not let the penalty dissuade them from making that move because they "get it". Arison on the other hand views the Heat as a money losing proposition, thusly he won't spend the coin that other teams are willing to spend to win.
And SA won 4 in 9 years, the Lakers have been to back to back title games, the Pistons went to 5 straight Eastern Conference finals, so what you sayin'?
Who cares what the Cavs did? They "get it"? do they also "get it" that we have a championship and they don't? That is your problem. YOU don't get it. anyway..as for the rest of your post.... That is rich, coming from a perpetual money losing franchise in orlando. BTW...the Miami Heat's franchise value has consitently been higher than Orlando's. http://espn.go.com/sportsbusiness/s/forbes.html
BTW Padre......you actually said that Arison "won;t spend" what other teams spend to win? Uh....too bad that payrolls are made public right? The Heat's payroll is higher than Orlando's. Use the little tell tale ESPN trade machine. http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine Difference being of course that The Heat will free up around 35 million and that is after keeping the guys they want to keep. again...I can wait a year.
Actually my team is San Antonio in the West and the Heat in the East followed by the Bobcats. I've liked the Heat since they had Glen Rice.
Then you should be on board with our plan because it is the best example of events conspiring to setup a franchice in NBA history. a prebuscent NBA team with a top 3 player that already improved to 43 wins adding a max player and maybe more? are you kidding? now...we can really screw this up by getting nervous and getting a player now and trading away any of our young pieces.
What max player do you see the Heat signing? I do think their moves are geared in this direction, I don't see them losing Wade but who is actually going to sign? We've seen a lot of teams in the NBA making salary cap moves but the biggest players haven't seemed to shift around without a sign and trade.
Because I don't believe things will play out like that Sect, I've seen literally scores of franchises across the wide wide world of sports making those claims, and standing pat and it rarely pans out. Players are injured, they disappoint, a different team makes a move and darn it they just were better because of it...wait till next season!! And next season rolls around and the same thing happens. Depends on who is acquired, notice the Cavs got Shaq for basically his contract value, B Wallace is going to retire, but they did go into the penalty, so between trying to win or paying the penalty, they chose trying to win. Which I love in a franchise, the 49ers used to do that and they were very very good at doing it, it was only later when the front office talent left that they fell apart. "Yes" that is a NFL reference, however player acquisition is player acquisition, it reveals the mindset of those running a franchise.
I think they will go in one of two directions. Either a Joe Johnson + Chandler and bench players.... OR Chris Bosh and bench players. Amare is also interesting if all else fails.
Except that the heat has been building rather steadily (in ONE SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME BTW!) toward the position where adding ONE MAX player will land them in contention for a long time. Chalmers and beasley are heading into season 2...along with D. Cook who is a 3 year player but would be a senior in College. The james Jones signign was a very good one as it turned out and you still have good players to compliment this group in Haslem, and Moon (if he resigns) of course..that is not mentioning the best player in the world or at worse..the 3rd best player in the world. all of this with a Jermaine Oneal working with Grover to get his lift back...so who knows...maybe we keep him at a discount as well. (he played well in the playoffs) The future is MEGA bright. All we have to do is have patience.
Whew Joe Johnson and Chandler would pretty much rap the east up but thats a big IF on both of those, the Heat really don't have much in the way of sign and trade bait on their team to get all of these guys.
Yaosers! Thats a guy who just cant win; always seems to be getting hurt. Too bad because hes a very good player.
Per Rotoworld: If Carlos Boozer decides to "opt in" on Tuesday, the Jazz will be in serious jeopardy of losing both he and Paul Millsap by the start of the 2010-11 season. The Jazz's nightmare scenario would be having Boozer opt in and then seeing Millsap get a significant offer from another team on Wednesday. Boozer would then become an unrestricted free agent next season, while the Jazz would not likely be able to afford Millsap after luxury-tax penalties are figured in. Boozer once said that he was definitely opting out this summer, but the state of the economy may have changed his mind for him. Source: Salt Lake Tribune Related: Paul Millsap If boozer doesnt opt out you cant be surprised given the state of the economy and his injury history. The Knicks are planning to meet with Jason Kidd when free agency begins on Wednesday, but Mark Cuban is also planning on being in New York for the same purpose. Cuban is expected to meet with Kidd sometime after midnight tonight, hoping to keep the point guard in Dallas. The Mavs feel they need to get a commitment from Kidd in order to get their other free agency targets, like Rasheed Wallace and Ben Gordon, interested in Dallas. Source: Dallas Morning News Related: Rasheed Wallace, Ben Gordon Kidd would be a beast in D'Antoni's offense but I doubt this is likely to happen. Unless Kidd had no other playoff caliber teams interested I dont know why he would elect to come here. A ring on his resume would be the icing on the cake cementing him as one of the best PG's ever. Nate Robinson is said to be considering signing the Knicks' one-year qualifying offer, believing the market will be stronger in 2010. Given the state of the economy this summer, most teams aren't going to be willing to open up their check books and over pay for a veteran free agent. Then again, the competition for free agents is much better this year than it will be in 2010 - the "Summer of LeBron." Source: New York Post David Lee will likely get a good offer from another team, but if it's within reason, the Knicks will match the offer and keep him. Donnie Walsh plans on making him an initial offer on Wednesday, and is said to be ready to pay Lee $7 million per season for up to six years. Lee led the league in double-doubles last season and could easily get a much bigger offer. But Lee does have incentive to stay with the Knicks, as his supermodel girlfriend, Sabina, lives in New York and doesn't want him going anywhere. Source: New York Post Id like to see Nate sign the one year tender. I believe we would maintain Larry Bird rights on him next year since he would have played more then 3 years with the same team. Sign him once you get a couple of the stud FA's next year in the fold. If Lee is looking for a long term deal, I'm not sure he will be here in 09.
Michael Curry's gone. I am not shedding a tear. From Chad Ford's chat at ESPN today... So the Clips turned down a chance to get rid of Randolph, only one of the most untradeable players in the NBA for an expiring contract? If I was a Clippers fan...actually, I won't even finish that sentence.
I wouldn't sniff that job in Detroit if I was a coach, I mean how many has Dumars fired in the last few years?
4 since 2003, although Larry Brown doesn't really count, since he was forcing his way out. I didn't think Curry was doing a real good job, but I thought he'd get at least one more year to prove himself. I would look for Doug Collins to get hired.
http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archi...n_tape_cursing_out_knicks_for_passing_on_him/ Joe Budden! But man that is ridiculous. Looks like the Bucks got their mouthpiece. I read a quote from an NBA executive and he discussed Jennings. He said that he went through a thorough background of Jennings and asked his friends what Jennings personality is like. They all said that once he starts having some success, he's going to start running his mouth and that he's always been like that. Go to You Tube and search "Brandon Jennings curses out the Knicks"
lmao i was watching that live....i knew some shady **** was gonna go down..smh @ whoever recorded that ...anyway the blazers are rumored to offer a contract at 12:01 tonight, to somebody...my guesses are either andre miller, hedo, artest, kidd, or ariza...
I can share some inside info for you. Your Blazers are offering Hedo a contract. at least that is what the heat front office was told by Hedo's people.
That same rumor was reported 2 weeks ago about Wade and Bosh "conspiring" to play together as well. it is all bull**** and conjecture. They both won;t go ELSEWHERE...that is a fact. Of the big guys...lebron and D-Wade aren't going anywhere....so Bosh has to join one or the other. My money is on the city/state with the lower taxes, better weather and younger more talented team at the time. that and of course...Bosh owns a condo here and lives 2 months out of the year here. Who would want this over sunny luxurious Cleveland?
nice, thanks for that...not sure how i feel about that, i guess its good but creates a huge log jam...my guess is that we also trade for heinrich...heinrich and hedo would be good upgrades.
