Your Saddest Moment As A Phin-Fan?

    I gotta go with the Jax game too, in part because there was some suspicion thet Dan may retire, so that would be his last game.

    Zonk, Kiick, et al going wfl is pretty close though, the end of a dynasty. Think of the afc battles between them and the Steelers...

    Ouch! Wish I hadn't watched that 95 game ending on Youtube just now, really sucked, but I bet your hand hurt worse.

    I don't know if I could pin it on just one.

    But it would have to be either the Monday night loss to the Jets or the Jags playoff game.
    I guess I am going to go with the Jags playoff game. The reason I have to pick that one is that I was there. A friend of mine bought 6 tickets to the game on a hunch the Fins would beat the Seahawks and end up in Jacksonville. I guess the only thing good that came out of it is I did get to see Marino play his last game in person.

    For me, my worst moment as a Dolfan was when Shula retired and was disrespected (IMO) by the push for JJ. Don Shula is the BEST thing that ever happened to the Miami Dolphins. Not JJ, Not even Dan the Man, the greatest player in NFL history. The best thing this organization ever had as a part of it was Don Shula. He brought us class that put us on top as the winningest team in NFL history. He brought us Dan the Man, the second greatest thing in Dolphins history, and he brought us the ONLY perfect season. As a coach by profession myself, I have been deeply impacted by coach Shula and really appreciate his efforts in Miami. I wish the JJ and Wanny days would have been Shula days.

    when shula left when pete missed that field goal against the chargers, dan retiring, seeing dan at the hall of fame induction, the stupid jets game on monday night football, seeing ray lucas start etc

    i hope this new regime burries all those memories and makes some great ones

    Superbowl XVII vs the Redskins. After Fulton Walker's (remember him?) kickoff return for a touchdown, and holding a 17-13 lead in the 4th quarter, I thought we had it won. John fn Riggins!

    Can't decide...

    62-7 jags, 27-0 Raiders, 20-3 Ravens, fill in the blank, all those crushing playoff losses in the late 90s and early 2000s.

    02 week 16 vs Vikings, "the unibar" drills a long ball to put us on the egde of the cliff.

    02 week 17 vs Pats, 11 point lead completely blown, and lost in OT. Will never forget the pain on JTs face after that game.

    03 week 15 vs Pats, lost 12-0 in a game where our players were pounded with snowballs from Pats fans. Basically ended our season.

    04 precamp, Ricky retires.

    07 weeks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. And all of week 15 before the eventual divine intervention.

    04-08 the disassembly of our allpro defense. Timbo, AO, Pat, Sam, Sammy, Brock, ZT, and we all know the next move.

    This list is only a summary of the recent pains. I can only pray that the next 10 years carry much less heartache.

    That was the most depressing playoff game that I have EVER viewed!

    For me it has to be the Entire 2007 season!. We were literaly a gutless call, in Baltimore, away from going 0-16 and being the worst team in NFL history. :cry: It doesnt get any worse than that. For me anyway. People retire, get traded..etc... Teams have a bad day and get beat badly.... But to suck all year and lose EVERY game, but one? It was brutal to say the least. I will never forget being the worst team in 2007....never.:pity:

    That's the one. Everyone I ever pretended to be during recess....gone! It was the final dagger in my heart after the "sea of hands game". Damn I'm old.

    I'm exactly the same... I cried and spent about a week cursing Stoyanovich! The other was the monday night miracle..as it went on so long the coverage here ended at about 6am for the next days programmes (I didn't have internet at the time) so I went to work about 2 hours early just to make sure we'd won.... :angry:

    on the plus side, pam oliver looks nice and young at the end.. :rolleyes:
    i'd have to go with either the 62-7 or this entire last season. even the win against baltimore hurt, just because the only win we got was barely, barely a win. don't want to discredit camarillo but it almost just felt like luck.

    The Monday Night Debacle, to me, was the worst.

    I live in NY and went to our local drinking establishment with my friends to watch the game. My friends are all fans of other teams (not the Jets), so I was the only Dolphins fan at the table and needless to say in the minority at the bar.

    I could not listen to that J-E-T-S thing anymore from the others in the bar when they got within 2 TDs of us. I was on the way home and my friends called to tell me (like I didn't know) that the Jets had scored again. I got home and went to sleep (had to work the next day and didn't want to see the nightmare ending because I knew we were going to find a way to lose), and they called to wake me to tell me the Jets had tied it and then again that they had won it.

    That was a horrible night. 62-7, yeah, that was bad, too, but at least it wasn't the Jets.

    I remember the Monday Night debacle, Dan's last game, and the OT loss to San Diego, but the one that hurt me the most was the 1974 playoff loss to the Raiders. Stabler was getting sacked and he basically just threw it up into the end zone and a Raider's receiver somehow grabbed it to win the game.....it pretty much ended our dynasty. I was about 8 years old at the time. I still hate the Raiders to this day because of it, and I am happy the Raiders have been horrible the past 7 years or so.

    Oh man... which do I pick --

    -- Raiders / Dolphins Sea of Hands, which goes hand-in-hand with it being Csonka, Kiick, and Warfield's departures to the WFL. I cried like a baby; well, I was kind of young anyway, after that game. Back then, I thought maybe I'd wake up the next morning and something would happen where the NFL would overturn the score, and the Dolphins would win. It didn't happen.

    -- Dolphins / Chargers - The Epic in Miami - the downs, the further downs, the way further downs, Strock replaces Woodley, the comeback, the fall behind, the comeback, we go ahead, the Franklin fumble, the tie, OT, the San Diego miss, Dolphins von Schanked, San Diego wins 41-38. Winslow, Fouts, and Strock were the heroes. Meanwhile, a part of me died.

    -- Marino blowing out his Achilles against Cleveland when I thought we had a good shot to make it to the playoffs and beyond. He went down and you knew. You just knew. Gut wrenching. Nauseating. And then we got the hollow victory that made us 4-1. But there was overwhelming sadness - for the season, and for Marino's career. For a while, before defenses adapted to Mitchell, we won some. Then he got hurt. There was the Thanksgiving Leon Lett Blunder game with DeBerg to go 9-2. And then we lost the last five games.

    -- 1994 playoffs, Dolphins / San Diego. For me, I thought it was Marino's most serious and last great charge. The Wildcard weekend before, he had taken down Montana and the Chiefs, and he had a fire in his eye even more than I had ever seen. And we were the better team for most of the game. And then we tried to run Parmalee out of the end zone instead of putting the game on Dan's capable shoulders, and they got that safety. And the whole game changed. We missed the kick at the end, but the safety is what cost the game. And I was heart-broken for Dan, because I realized he may never get this close again. San Diego went to Pitt and upset the Steelers to face San Fran in the Super Bowl.

    -- Marino retiring. Nuff said.

    -- Every single draft day that had the names Wannstedt and Spieltman attached.

    -- Last year. It was a different kind of sadness because it was like the Dolphins had ceased to matter in any tangible way. After Ronnie got hurt, there was hardly anyone to root for. The coaches seemed lost. The team fell apart. And this was my beloved team. All the history had faded away to this. This???

    Those are the nominees. The winner is: Dolphins / Chargers '82. I was lost for days after that game. I walked through life like a zombie. My friend across the street was a San Diego fan, which didn't help at all. And there was no consoling the pain and sadness. I was sort of at an awkward teen age where you didn't know what to do with the pain, so you just let it hurt.

    I was much older than you during that game and it was the only game I truley lost it over and cried like a baby. I still get mad when I think about it. Every one here thought I was nuts, but I didn't care then and I don't care now. That one really hurt.

    I walked around the next day like someone had died. Was hoping to wake up the next day and see it was a dream...like it never happened. Maybe was also hoping that they would get a chance to replay the whole game the next day...UGH!

    Yeah that was a kick in the gonads.
    The problem about that situation was the limited media coverage of the WFL.
    You really didn't know how much was B-S and how much was actually true.
